RE: Resurrecting a Duellist 2/40
Sometimes life gets in the way of the hobby. I just bought a new house and have front and back yards to create. Next fall for me too!

FP or LA
Which one is better the OS FP or the OS LA? And why. Planning a budget multi engine. Thanks, Tony

What have I scored?
Hi all, New to boats. Been in RC planes for 40 years. Got this at a garage sale. I will tell you the price I paid at the end of my post. You are going to love it! It's 52" long. Looks like a 26cc engine from my searches. Glass hull. Don't know if it's epoxy or polyester. I have not tested it yet. Hull is in pretty good shape. Wing and supports need attention. Some monkey workmanship here and there, but fixable. Engine has tons of compression, so should run if properly set up. I have researched the U-10 and it does not look like this boat. Anybody have any idea what I might have? The top cover, (canopy, turbine and exhaust cover) is pretty rough, and mighty thin. I would like to get a new one, but I have no idea who made it, or if they are still in business. Here are a few pics. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tony Oh, almost forgot the best part, the garage sale price. $20.00. Asking price was $50.00. I was the only one interested in it. Guess that was my lottery ticket.

Skyrider
Anyone ever build the Skyrider that was in Flying Models magazine years ago? Just received a set of plans I ordered. Designed around the old OS 48 FS. I no longer own any 4 strokes, so it will be 2 stroke power for me. Very, very slick looking bird!!! Seems to be a pretty straight forward design. No surprises that I can see. Any pics? Tony

RE: Looking for new engines
If you want a scale look with a two bladed prop, paint one tip yellow on the front and one tip yellow on the back. If your two stroke engine turns 9000 RPM, it will look like it is turning 4500 RPM. Looks way scale, you get the power you want, your buddies will think it is too cool, and your prop will be balanced. This is not my idea, but I thought it fit the topic here. Tony

RE: .46 engine made in India
Looks real nice. If the tuned exhaust is like Jett or nelson then the price is seems good to me. Also note the eight bolt head. You could say, DUDE check out my eight bolt head!!! I think they are the same outfit making the Evolution radial engines.

If you do sheer webs, they will be about cg and should not have any effect. You are talking grams in weight if you use 1/16" wood.

RE: Engine temps
Well the ST .90 has lots if big fins. It's a ringed engine, so a lean run would not be a good thing. I always run my ST ringed engines plenty rich. I painted a piece of 1/2" aluminum for a test. It was baked in the curing oven at work for one hour at 150 degrees. This is standard bake time for all our SW paint. So, I think I will put the test in the oven, set it at 300 degrees, watch it during the preheat, and if it does not burn, I should be good to go. Until then............... Tony

Engine temps
Can anyone tell me [that truly knows] what the operating temps are of our glow engines? I have a Super Tigre .90 that I want to paint to match the nose on my SU-27 to make it less visible. I want to do a test at the right temp, while my wife is at work, to see if it will bubble. Paint is Sherwin Williams industrial urethane. Thanks, Tony

My .45F has the 4BK carb, my SF .40 has the 4D carb. Both carbs are the same internally. All parts interchange.

Here are some shots of my progress. Fixing small imperfections. Should be shooting primer in a few days. The canard is fixed. Set at '0' with the stab and wing. Power is a Super Tigre S.90K with tuned pipe. Tony
