RE: Sig 1/4 J3 Kit converted to PA-18 Super Cub (Build)
Thats some pretty wood. Much nicer than the piece of cherry that I have. I had a beautiful piece of carpathian burle I entended to use on a Bushby mustang that I built a few years back but alas it dried out and fell apart. Oh well. I'll probably keep my J-3 simple and stock with the correct instruments

RE: What’s so great about a cub?
Big Dan, I love your pilot figure, however, SNOOPY always flys my planes. Having flown a lot of cub hours (full scale) I think the single best training exersize you can do is the slip, rite & left. It lets you feel the cordination you need to master on the rudder. It also looks really cool (full size or model)

RE: (new pics) first kit a couple of Q's
I 'M USING A SAITO 62 IN MY CLIPWING AND IT JUST BARLY FITS . BUT IT SHOULD BE MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR THIS PUPPY. I MUST SAY TIS IS A VERY STOUT KIT. SHOULD STAND UP TO A LOT OF MY DUMB MISTAKES.

RE: Goldberg J-3 Cub into L-4 Grasshopper
There are many L-4 photos on "j-3 cub.com". I actually helped restore a full size 2 years ago. It did not have the green house but the customer wanted one so we bought a set of original plans and manufactured it exactly as original. It was a lot of labor but worth the effort as it turned out to be a show stopper. the more difficult parts to duplicate (besides th greenhouse) was the rear seat . The GIB (guy in the back) ha s to be able to turn around and face rearward to operate radios etc. It took a lot of research to duplicate this. I'll try to locate my pics and publish them soon. Good luck and happy modeling.

RE: Converting a J3 To a Super Cub
The SUPER CUB Fuse is basically the same width as the J3. However the tail surfaces are much different. The rudder is more rounded and the elevators are balanced. The early versions had no flaps and a smaller engine (contenental 0200). The boot cowl is wider as is the engine cowl (closed) with opening sides. Fuel tank was put in the wing so you could solo from the front seat. You easly disquise a J3 by changing the tail and modifying the cowl. Evan adding flaps would be quite simple. The landing gear could remain unchanged without taking away from the scale appierance .

RE: why a cub?
You could say I,m a cub lover. I've restored many J3's and been envolved with the "LEGEND" factory since we started in '04. I've been out of RC for some time but now I'm building a SIG Kit. It will have a for stroke for power and be finished to look like Joe Debranski's who won Grand champion classic at Oshkosh in "08. I had a hand in that restoration. Nothing says flying like the CUB. Yea, it's yellow and it's boring, but it draws a crowd every where we go.
