RE: STOLEN 1/4 scale DRAGSTER
I normally wouldn't post in a thread like this, but I kinda felt the need. I feel for you on the loss of such a truly beautiful piece of equipment. I sincerely hope she is returned to you unmolested. The real reason I am posting is because of the manner in which it was taken and things that could/should be done in the future to help prevent or even lessen the chance of recurrence. Firstly, they were armed, a gun and a Pitbull (although not much of a weapon, its more of an intimidation thing). Secondly, there were three of them. Thirdly, you were there with a child. The reason I point these things is because they have some bearing on how/why it happened. I will summarize the best I can. The fact the 3 armed guys, with a pitbull, robbed a lone man at gunpoint in front of his child definitely leads me to believe they were probably very nervous about the whole deal (ie. inexperienced) They picked their chance when your child was their because parenting instincts would immediately place the childs well being far above the car. Thus you would be less likely to resist. Couple that with there being 3 of them and a dog. Its was almost a no win for you, and I am sorry you and your child had to endure that kind of situation. Now how can one prevent this kind of thing? Nobody totally can. All you can do is lessen the odds that it will. Sure some of these may seem a bit obvious, or "barbaric". Never run alone, especially with just your child. A lone man is easy prey for 3 armed guys. Arm yourself, and make it obvious you are and know how to use it. This is by far the best option IMO. Sure, some would say I am a gun toting redneck from KY, and I would agree! But the key principle behind being openly armed is to not look like bait, but instead look like a shark. If those guys who were obviously unsure of themselves when you were unarmed knew a weapon was on your side. I honestly doubt they would have attempted risking their lives for it. This is a cold callous world we live in, and its getting worse by the day. Please do whatever you can to defend yourself and your property. Also, this post was not to degrade, demoralize or poke fun of anyone put in this kind of situation. It bluntly, sucks. I hate it for him to lose this obviously cherished piece. All I am trying to offer is some of my own insight into how and why. Obviously these are my opinions and can be taken with a grain of sand.......

RE: What's your Largescale choice - Gas or Electric?
Those amazing speeds, take how long to get there? Personally I don't have my own personal 1/4 mile drag strip or an old airport runway, so its kind of pointless. Any car can get up to an "amazing" speed given the proper length of straight and gearing. My point is this, geared for the same top speed, the brushless cars (unless SEVERELY underpowered) would win hands down. For me, brushless is king.

RE: HPI 4WD Baja 5SC. SAY WHAT?
ORIGINAL: Foxy I'll take a guess and say this... http://www.castlecreations.com/products/mamba_xl.html With this... http://www.castlecreations.com/products/2028_motor.html That motor can take 10S, so I wonder if there'll be a version of the ESC that can take 10s made just for HPI. They've shown their willingness to allow for craziness in the Savage Flux HP, 6s capable, it's a madman out of the box. Sure would make this car expensive tho. reckon on $800 of the price being for the electrics. Should go like stink though, even on 8s. :)
That is what I initially thought it had in it as well Foxy, but after seeing the video I think its something else entirely. It was too slow IMO to be running the 2028/XL8s configuration. It may be just a mamba monster on 6s with a super low KV motor.

RE: What's your Largescale choice - Gas or Electric?
I chose electric, obviously. Ive had gassers, everyone who knows me knows my deal. :D Basically when I get off work at 7am I can go run in my yard and not bother my neighbors. Sure the runtimes are shorter, but not that short. With $110 worth of Zippy lipos I can get 25mins+ of runtime. If I want to run longer I can just change out the batteries and go again. My entire brushless setup for the XBe, including 3 pairs of batteries, a charger to charge 4 of them at the same time, ESC and motor were all less than $500 combined. Its hard to beat the power, controllability and just ease of use of electric. It fits my needs perfectly, I have plenty of runtime whenever I want (even at 3am!), CRAZY power and the ease of use.

RE: HPI 4WD Baja 5SC. SAY WHAT?
I will just say these few things. I think Losi has done a very good job in the design of the 5ive, it does look very nice indeed! Im wary of the HPI because it will probably just be an extended Savage or something similar. As far as Gas vs Brushless....most of you know where I stand. Brushless power is undeniable.

RE: Is a redcat xt as good and durable as an hpi baja 5b
ORIGINAL: bbuzzard
ORIGINAL: Sherv I dont understand you redcat fanboys. You honestly think what Sheo said is marketing? He is right... Generally the more you pay in this hobby the better the quality. You honestly cant deny that the redcat is a low end 1/5th scale. It can't even be paired in the same group as MCD, FG, HARM, Lauterbach, Hurrax, Kamitiro, Contrast, and so on. It is in the Smartech, Nutech, Rovan, KM, FS, ShengQi, SY, and CEN group and in that group its definitely one of the better options. However after thinking about it I would go with the Baja if I were you simply because of the parts available, customization options, and Deal of the Day at Daves.
Man, shut up and race me...<img src=''http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/wink_smile.gif'' alt='''' />
Hey Bbuzz, he won't and you know it. He will sit behind the computer and talk trash all day and never back it up. @Sherv As far as you buying a Zynit, I will believe that when I see it. All I see from you its lots of talk with absolutely ZERO actions to back your mouth up. Its simple, put up or SHUT UP. I will gladly make the 10hr drive to Virginia to put that Shervtech , FG MT, MCD, Zynit , nitro or whatever else you plan on buying between now and then in its place. That is if Buzz doesn't handle you first.

RE: Is a redcat xt as good and durable as an hpi baja 5b
ORIGINAL: Sherv Well with a 4wd vehicle you have 3 points of failures on the drive train like front/center/rear diffs but with the rwd you just have a rear diff. All I know is that the Baja is a bitch to work on when something breaks... While a 4wd model may have more parts to deal with it is generally a much more open/friendlier layout compared to the Baja.
I never thought id say this man, but I agree with you. LOL :D

RE: Looking at buying a Rampage XT or XB...
ORIGINAL: Sherv Well Djbuzzard, Noyb, and I are in the VA area. Between us 3 we own every single brand like nutech, fg, mcd, hurrax, harm, elcon, and so on. You can take a look at the models up close if you wanna meetup and bash sometime. Personally I would stay away from redcat and if durability is what you want for under 900 new then look at nutech but if you have more money then go buy an MCD V4 model. They are sick. Noyb has a V4 MCD Race Runner that runs real nice.
How'd that Nutech vs Redcat race go? :D

RE: King Motor T1000 Baja Truck
Its all good Losiracer, this is the KM thread. This is the correct place for that type of question. You are not at fault here, the other guy is. I have had several clones, and several HPIs so I can speak from experience. If I was (which im not) to buy the Baja platform again id buy the KM over any of the others, HPI included.

RE: King Motor T1000 Baja Truck
ORIGINAL: MadManAndrew
ORIGINAL: bbuzzard I was brand buyer back in the day but I got a little more savvy, thanks to some good intel...
Yeah, and manufacturers use to make everything in the US too, but then they got a little more savvy. Patriotism is what kept our country on the top for so long, amd getting savvy is what brought us down.
............Get off your high horse. I highly doubt Bbuzzard or anyone for that matter buying a KM has done that. Corporate and Political greed is what brought this country to its knees. HPI has the Baja made in China/Taiwana, all he is doing is keeping the extra $3-400 instead of giving it to HPI.

RE: Redcat Releases X Series Short Course Truck Today!!
ORIGINAL: Sherv I might get one since the only other competitor in the 1/5th SC class (4wd) is the FS/Cen Model which costs an unreasonable 900 dollars. I was planning on a new project soon but this would end up far cheaper :P Looks like its going to be the top dog/best value in its class.
