RE: Painting with auto paint questions
So have i and what i said was not for your benefit as you know what you are doing. It was meant to guide people who almost never spray anything and as you know prep skills vary a lot.

Hi ortho hope you hav'nt damaged anything. The 125 like all others should be around two turns out on the main needle after you peak it properly and then the low speed to suit re transition and to a certain extent the idle as well.

Hello kwik, that was my question when i started the thread,an attempt to garner concesus on ignition and carby problems too. There is a major divergence in opinion from people on this very subject. It's not a lot of fun for the money you pay and the airframe you risk. Thanks to pete bergstrom for coming on board, better late than never and good info.My point is that that is not enough..

That looks like it would be fun to fly, sound included. It's good fun when you have to compensate for the prop torque.Post a vid if you can:)

That's interesting and the cap looks to be about 72?" wingspan, the standard 180 would rip it's nuts off.

Hey earl that looks interesting and do you fly it??? i'm over bent eights and horsepower tricky things to do with that, does the engine sound different and how does it throttle up?would like to hear it if you post a vid somewhere for us.

Thats a good point you make. Some people are saying they have a fixed if you like ignition system compared to variable and this is where it gets confusing...plus the early carbs and it makes you feel like gittin thge old mans brass hammer out to try and sort the problem out with you compadres:)..FOR A MAJOR ENGINE MANUFACTURER it can be nothing less than a major head fu#% for consumers who liked

RE: Saito FG57 Fourstroke
Hi thanks no i don't think i can.I once posted a birthday nude shot of the handbrake lying on an airbed in the swimming pool at the tender age of 58,she looked alright to me and since then i have difficulty posting photos. The fg57 has a three wire setup and all wires have plugs.I have a dual core red and black wire for the battery and two red, black and white wires for the tacho and pickup sensor mounted mounted to the engine. The engine manual says this is fine,i'm worried that it is not earthed properly, hope you can help answer this question for me and others mate:)

Thanks for the good wishes mate, from all i've read so far i'll need it.Hope your fg36 goes well,as a side note i get 8500 with a 18x6 out of the glo version no worries.Wow dunno about a ys engine but the little 30 saito does more for a big airframe than i expected. What prop will you be running on the 115 in the stinson? yes will be going east next year to watch you hackers having a go:):):)

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Do you think they should run a bigger prop when well tuned? my 115 easily pulls a 15x8 in a midget mustang given it's a slippery aeroplane. They arn't torquers with that prop but the engine sounds good as it slows down at full throttle after a steep climb and i think the head temps climb rapidly when you do that.

RE: Saito FG57 Fourstroke
Mr g thank you for that.i've got a bad case of first gas engine fourstroke start syndrome.I run plenty of saito glow fourstrokes and have settled into them comfortably. With your valve adjustment the current thinking for glow saitos and the one piece head and barrel has the barrel expanding with heat far faster than the valve gear,so you can set tight clearances like .002 and have them grow as the engine gets hotter. That's on methonol which is a cool fuel and lots more of it goes thru the glow engine compared to a gas sipping fg57 and i'm told they run a lot hotter.Would this have exacerbated your rocker to valve clearance issue,i'm surprised at what you say happened, cheers peter
