RE: YELLOW AT-6 TEXAN BUILD THREAD
Hi there RCPilt78 and others, well I'm still going on my AT6 scratch build from Brian Taylor plans and I hope attached some progress pics for you all. Next step is complete the nonclamatuer, do some dirtying up and wear marks then clear coat. I have also made up my own water slide decals for the nonclam which has come out great, will post some more pics later. Cheersw for now and keep the great building and the thread going, you have all been a great help. RCPilot78 how's the P-38 going? Would love to see some pics of it, just hope you still have room in your workshop.

Hi Clscale, Yep I think it's a great build, although at times can certainly give you something to think about especiall if you add split flaps and retracts. As per previous I will have another go at loading some pics for you..........here goes...........

RE: YELLOW AT-6 TEXAN BUILD THREAD
Hi there RCPilot78, yep still going with my project, have now finished all the panel lines and rivets. Got to spray silver on the wings as well but seems too bright to me even though I added black to it. Will more than likely have to give it a light rub down with say 1200 wet/dry paper, I don't really mind though as I want to add the nonomclature using water slide decal sheet and add weathering etc. So either way I am bound to have to give it a light saturn clear coat to finish up. I also got my painting masks today which I am very pleased with. I will try to load some pics for you but have been having great problems with them loading, so please excuse me in advance if they don't load......here goes

As a step forward please see pic attached of my panel lines and rivets. I have now also painted the wings silver, however looks too bright and will need to be rubbed down with wet/dry paper then after the nomenclature is added together with the weathering effects - matt clear coated. You guys all seem very quiet, would love to hear from you and see some of your projects.

These are some of the very early stages of the build and since then the external lights have been redone with a scale look and have litho plate surrounds with the wing tip lights reduced in size and again with litho covers. Will take some current pics on the weekend to provide an update.

RE: Brian Taylor 68
Hi Gents, just found your thread and hope you don't mind me coming in. I have also built the BT AT-6 and are now up to the painting stage and is fully undercoated.. I suppose you could say I have gone over board with my build as I have included fully detailed sliding cockpits including rudder bar in front, all clocks & dials throttle quad' etc etc, together with detailed split flaps, full lighting as well as instrument panel lights, retracts (Robart) and doors, scale exhaust by a flexible pipe and powered by an ASP 91. Oh sorry plus panel lines and rivets..God only knows how many rivets are on the thing. If anyone is interested I have a lot of build photos. I have uploaded only one (I hope) but would be happy to email anyone interested or try to post more here.

RE: YELLOW AT-6 TEXAN BUILD THREAD
RCPILOT and JeffH, Firstly thank you for your encouragement RC, I have spent a lot of time on the gear doors already, as previously mentioned I have them closing flush but one opens out further than the other. I can certainly see how you spent 2 weeks mucking around with them Jeff. I hope you guys don't mind me hooking into your thread even though I am not building a Yellow AT-6. At the end of the day we are all building the same type of aircraft by differnt means. Besides I have enjoyed your thread and would like to see it continue and not go cold. Regards to all and thank you all for your assistance. Keep On Building.

Continuing, got hold of some very bright Red and Green Led's 3/16 diameter and have now inserted them in as replacement nav lights also used litho plate shaped to make a tear drop covers, seems to have worked well. Cheers to all for now

RE: YELLOW AT-6 TEXAN BUILD THREAD
Gidday RCPilot78 , still going with my scratch build, this site has gone very quite. Like getting ideas and sometimes alternate methods of doing things from you guys. Thanks to the Robart site I made a copy set of strut collars which work well. Had a lot of trouble getting the doors to fit properly, as in to close up flush. Finally got it right but one door opens slightly further than the other, More adjustment, what a pain in the ar@*#. Took all the wing lights out and made loitho plate surrounds and closed up the landing lights in accord with scale dimensions. Enjoying it and still going.

RE: YELLOW AT-6 TEXAN BUILD THREAD
Your certainly have been a big help, 90 flights is good going and looks very clean in the air. Even though mine is only 1/7 I have tried to build in as much in my cockpits as well and all that have seen it so far have been pretty amazed at the detail, as a novelty I put a map on the shelf on the right hand side shelf and also has a fire extinquisher down on the lower right side. Have enjoyed the build when I get time but still have a long way to go. By the way is 77 painted using zink chromate and clear coated. I visted the L.A then drove to San Franciso, flew to Vegas then drove back to L.A. in October last year, about 2 1/2 weeks and hope to go back again when we can afford it, had a great time. Especialy since our $ is fairly high. Regards Dennis

RE: YELLOW AT-6 TEXAN BUILD THREAD
Hi there RCPILOT78, Hope you guys don't mind me sticking my nose in, but I am scratch building an AT-6 from Brian Taylor plans 1/7 scale. (which I have had for about 15 years or more) I have been working on it now since Oct 2010 and have basically finished all the airframe. Though I now have to revisit the retact as I have changed them over to Robarts. Details of mine are, span 68 1/2 inch, all lights, has scratch built (as per RCPILOT78) full detailed cockpits with sliding canopy in the front, split flaps, dummy radial and powered by an ASP91 4 stroke inverted with a the exhaust exiting the scale position using a flexible exhaust pipe. Only wish I had built a 1/5 or even a 1/6 scale as mine is a little small at times and have to be very careful to keep the scale sizing correct. Next step will be to do the panel lines and rivetts on the fuz. To RCPILOT78 and Roger (Sorry to hear what happened to yours mate) and all the thread members thank you for your unkown assistance and inspiration. RCPILOT78 your scale detail is nothing short of supurb and it was lovely to see you took old 77 home to her original base. Love your work.

RE: AT-6 harvard kits
Sorry just to add been working on mine since November 2010 and still going although the airframe is built I am now taking the time and completing all the scale details which will include panel lines and rivetts, but have to be very careful as its not a huge model and everything needs to be quite small due to the scale size of 1/7.

RE: AT-6 harvard kits
Hey Guys, Hope you don't mind my sticking my nose in, but I am currently scratch building an AT-6 from the Brian Taylor plans you mention. Span 69inch, Robart retracts, all lights, full cockpit detail with sliding front canopy, split flaps, the power plant is an ASP91 4stroke inverted with exhaust exiting the scale position via a flxible exhaust pipe. Dummy radial. If I can be of assistance to anyone just let me know. Regards to all.

Really pleased you got it all sorted out, Chris. Had to laugh when the smoke came on and son ran like hell, what a rippa. Must say it looks very effective and should look spectacular in the air. Please post some more pics or the finished model , we're all interested to see her complete. How long now before you anticipate the test flight? Kindest Regards....DC.

Hi CRJDriver, I agree with Pete reset everything as per the manual and retry, although I expect you will have the same result. With what you are describing without actually being there and hearing the motor choke out, it sounds to me like the ingition is retarded and may need a slight advancing. Can this be safely adjusted with the engine running? If so you it should respond immediately. Otherwise close it down, advance it only a fraction and restart until it picks up and runs properly. See how you go a that......Good Luck.
