RE: Transporting in a pickup
Funny RD, I do just about the same thing. Upside down table - the fuel box against the tailgate pretty much wedges it in fore to aft, I have a piece of plywood with a 2x4 that sits between it and the wheelwell that locates it side to side.

RE: Transporting in a pickup
Have a tonneau on my F350 crew cab (short bed) - worked fine for electrics and the first wave of fuel planes. 36% Katana fits diagonally across the bed, almost a foot taller than the cover. Should have bought a shell :(

RE: AMR High Wing Stick 30
Anthony, did the plans allow for optional 4 servo wing (quad flaps)? I have an electric Mini UltraStick set up this way and it's a blast. I was looking at the 50cc AMR Stik, but this size looks like "plenty big" (and already have a 50cc plane that needs to be flown more) :)

They should have not only refunded anyone's money thast paid to see Starship Troopers, but should have bought a round to get the horrible taste out of their mouths. The other quote came from Harry Callahan (Dirty Harry) in Sudden Impact. And he was right - no one over the age of 10 should be putting ketchup on a hot dog. If you ask for that in Chicago (or New York) - thay'll ask you what part of Santa Monica you're from :)

RE: Post your favorite quotes
eddieC - Correct! The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.
ORIGINAL: Harley Condra
ORIGINAL: basimpsn Was this guy flying a F22 ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IqWal_EmBg
Kalitta 66? If it was Kalitta Air, he was flying a 747 freighter. See www.kalittaair.com for a list of their aircraft. Ypsilant Michigan, the destination of the hypoxic pilot is home base for Kalitta Air. Kalitta Air is owned 100% by Conrad (Connie) Kalitta, ex NHRA Top Fuel owner/driver. He used to be called ''The Bounty Hunter''. He drove the first fuel car to top 200 MPH in an NHRA event. He lost his son Scott in a Top Fuel crash in 1998.
Yep, old (non -400) 747's. Have one on the south ramp currently (charter air side of LAX). They transport lots of horses - typically through the AOA gate next to my office. Fun to watch unless the wind is from the East :)

RE: do all warbirds need extra nose weight
Two of mine (26cc 1/7 scale P-47 and YS120 1/8 scale F6F) required none. My 60 sized P-51B (YS110) required tail weight :) All of the others took weight in the nose, with the Dr.1 being the worst offender (generally most planes that were radials in real life seem to be problem children as far as CG)

My wife got me the GP combat corsair, I gave her a small list of planes I wanted and she picked from there. Now I really wanted the Toledo speasial from hanger 9, but didnt get it but I am very happy with her choice and cant wait to get started on it. What did you guys get?
I have that same plane Scott, electrified. One of my more consistant fliers. Only RC related items were a pair of DVD's, "Lift Ticket" and "Lift Ticket to Norway"

RE: Using a sock on monokote iron
ORIGINAL: rgburrill I use a Top flite sock but use the Monokote iron very little.  I usually use a heat gun and a real iron (NOT STEAM).  The real iron heats a much large section and does a fantastic job of shrinking the Monokote.  I use the small iron only for small areas like fairings. Just don't let your wife catch you - you don't want her to know you can actually use an iron.
I was waiting for someone to point that out. I only cover in the basement when my wife's out of town, and make sure to put the monokote iron in the BACK of the toolbox when done. She'd be sure to point out that "an iron is an iron"......

RE: need help on instructing a new pilot
Is he using a transmitter neck strap? Not everyone likes them (I happen to) - but I know I had similar problems teaching one of my nephews to fly on my 1/4 scale Super Cub. He was "holding" the transmitter by the sticks at times when he'd get nervous.

RE: Please, please...somebody tell me they've made a goof like this!!
Don't look at this as having two right wings. Look at this as already completing the right wing for the spare plane you need to buy :) Even more embarrassing - build two sheeted foam core wings for a slope glider. Stick the elevon servo in the bottom of the left wing (correct) and the TOP of the right wing......
