RE: Ryobi 16
Some of the reviews are not really what you would call steller on this saw. I have a Dremel and don't like it much at all. As far as the sander goes, my wife bought me a Delta 12" disc sander a few years ago for Christmas and it is GREAT. I had a Dremel disc/belt sander before that and while it worked ok, i found i did not use the belt much at all.

Tim, I have a Himax HC3516-1350 which is basically the same as the Axi you are looking at. It is new in the package for $60.00 + actual shipping.

RE: GP Extra 300S 60 Build
Hmmm, that is interesting. I was using Behr latex and it looked terrible with Lusterkote on top of it. It gave it a crazed/cracked appearance. So, have you put Lusterkote over Rustoleum before and it worked out ok?

RE: GP Extra 300S 60 Build
Just let the blue overlap the yellow. It really won't hurt any thing as long as it is sealed well. Have you confirmed that the clear Lusterkote is compatible with Rustoleum? It may very be, i am not sure but if you haven't tried it before, you might want to do a test piece first. I sprayed clear Lusterkote over latex, that did not work out well at all. If it works well over Rustoleum that would be good to know.

Hey fella's, i am shopping around for a canopy for my 600E (still in kit form but not for much longer). I see canopies listed for 600 electrics and 600 nitro versions. Does any one know what the difference is in the canopy?

RE: Carl Goldberg extra 300 engine
This could sort of lead to a which is better Chevy or Ford. IMHO the 6635's are great servos but for the Extra and planes to come i would suggest you consider the 5485's, they are a great new standard digital, 72 ouces of torque and considerably less money. For whatever it may be worth, i have some in my new CG Extra.

RE: EPOXY, A STICKY QUESTION
I have nevered worried too much with the strength of the epoxy be it 5 minute or 30 minute. For me, the 30 minute (which usually takes about 2 hours to cure) gives me more time to get what ever it is i am gluing in the correct position. I only use 5 minute for smaller parts. Doing it this way is a lot easier on my nerves too. [:)]

Those are great servos. You can use a standard servo for throttle, i like the HS-425BB.

RE: GP ultimate Bi-plane, finally finished.
Another thing you can do is to layer thin fiberglass cloth inside the cowl and wheel pants, that adds a lot of strength and durability to otherwise thin vacuum formed plastic.

RE: Carl Goldberg extra 300 engine
I agree with the other fellows, a gasser for this plane is too much, too heavy, the structure is not designed to carry that type of engine. I am starting to cover my second CG Extra. The first one flew for 10 years and now my son has it. It started out with an O.S. 1.20 4 stroke and was later fitted with a Saito 1.50. Both provided plenty of power. While constructing #2 i couldn't decide which engine to power it with either. So in the mean time while i was pondering that, i simply taped the firewall in place (as shown in the picture) so i could keep on building, perhaps you could do the same until you decide what is best for you. This one will have an O.S. 1.08 2 stroke.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300
Fella's, i am finishing up the frame up work on my second CG Extra. The first one did not have the protective film on the canopy. Has any one tried using the protective film as a paint mask? I am thinking of trimming the film off of the canopy frame, paint it and then remove the rest of the film. I have never tried any thing like that before and wondered if any of you have.

RE: Future of the Scalemasters?
I tend to agree with Jeff in the fact it is about the money. Most people just simply cannot travel like years past, myself i am unemployed, there is no way i can make the long distance trips any more. Not that i don't enjoy getting out and driving, that is not the issue. I too have done the long drives out west, Dallas, Kansas City, etc. But sure couldn't do it today. The largest attendance for Scale Masters has always in been in the Midwest. That is not to say it should not be on the East or West coast. I think going to different sites gives more of an opportunity for others to compete that otherwise could not or would not make the trip. As far as the numbers being down at Top Gun, yes, i agree the economy has an effect on it but IMHO there are others factors that have brought the numbers down. I too have competed at TG, but not likely will i make that trip again either and for more reasons than money. That is another discussion altogether.

Up to 6S lipos, so it depends on what you are going to use in your 600 for batteries. That is a very nice but expensive charger.

I use 3S lipo's in my JR 8103 and 9303. When i charge them, i just don't let them peak, shut off the charger at approx. 11.5v. Never had a problem and only charge a few times per season.

RE: My Trex 600 E will only fly for 30 secs.
I have seen that on one other occasion. The battery (just one in this case) seemed to charge fine, hold voltage but just did not have enough to maintain flight for any period of time. It was a 3S in the 2000mah range. It has been some time ago so the details are a bit vague. Not being an electronics expert by any means, I still don't know why it didn't work, it just didn't. A good battery in the same heli and it flew fine.
