RE: 100MPH HPI RS4 3 EVO+ ????
sorry but the suporting mods you will need is to get a difrent chassis, just like miami said it will never hit 100mph. The only fast 10th driveshaft car I have seen is brents davids ofna
ORIGINAL: rebman Ok, first off... I will not be happy unless I hit 100mph. With that being said, what motor would I need to do this in an rs4 3 evo+ ? What other supporting mods will need to be done to this car aswell? Please post links to stuff if you can!! Thanks in advance!
RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
the expanding foam glue will stop all balooning, but the tire has verry little flex. I would like a belted tire that dosent baloon and would fit a savage 17mm rim

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
Thanks for that info, I thought that the jato tires wouldnt baloon. So you used gorilla duck take on the inside of the tire and it was fine??? here are some pics from the day I ran the DM-1

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
I really regret not been able to post a longer video because that was just the warm up. 2 minutes after that... The car was runing so fast.

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
I will run it in a few weeks because I have to order a diffrent set of tires that have better grip (savage/jato) and, I will have a better longer video for next time.

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
I finaly got to run my twin DM-one, again and uploaded a video on youtube. The memory on my camera was full so its short and I dint get to film any high speed passes. for this time around I filled the tires with polyurethane axpanding glue and balanced them. I dint clock the car but it was going above 70MPH and I could not let it wind out because I would run out of space, so I am going to have to find a longer straight. in the video the tires were cold but after a minute the grip improved but I still need more grip. The torque makes it spin out when it shifts to 2nd, and you realy need to manage the trottle in 1st. here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZuHPUwvNMw

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
Hi everyone I finally got the twin engine DM1 running and it was incredible. the fastest car I have ever had was a HPI super nitro with a big block, but this is was totally different. The most amasing thing is the sound of the twin engines. But I did have some problems with the tires ballooning and coming of the rims. I have posted some pics of the car and some for size comparasion. The beat up truck body is a 1/5th scale FG monster truck. and picks of the DM1 was when it wasn't finished jet. I will have a video up on you tube soon.

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
if your thinking the fg sportline will handle like a small nitro car you will be kind of disappointed. I have 10th, 8th and 5th scale cars, and I can tell you no RW drive 1/5th scale will ever handle like a 1/8th on road. Before I bought the DM1 I was going to by a MCD 4wd 1/5th scale but its just to much money for me as a toy. so insted I got the DM1 and I am glad I did, I love the way it handles the chassis looks like some thing out of a F1 ingenuity team and the car is super fast. If you have read the hole thread I had said I gas also going to make it a twin engine, I have ben working on and of on it for about 10 months and am almost done, I will post some picks of it in the next days.

RE: CRRC PRO GF50i gasoline POWER
I took it out put a lot of blue thread lock and held the hub with a vise grip (with a rag) and the shaft with 2 bolts. I also had to set the timing correctly as mine was about 32-36 and had to set it down to 28.

RE: smoke on 1/4 scale. is it to much weight
thats up to you and how you like your plane to fly, built it without the smoke and then after a few flights install the smoke and see if you think its to heavy.

RE: Engine Balance..Post what you read here & questions
Correct me if am wrong, but cant you balance a 2 cylinder (DA-100) perfecly by balancing the the crankshaft like a wheel and then making shure both pistons, rods, and pins weight the same?

RE: TGY 52
I just saw the pics of the crrc pits muflers and it has a mounting tab on the back. the crrc engine has 2 threads on the back of the crankcase to bolt on the pits to the crankcase it self. So my guess is the the pitts mufler will fit the exhaust por but the tab would not have a place to be bolted down.

RE: Which Of the 2 foamies???
I have had 2 e-flite extra 260's, combined I have over 200 flights on the plane, and I love it I run a thunder power 730 3s packs with a park 300 outruner. If your going to do 3d I would recomend a bit more motor, mine bearly pulls out of a hover. I do plan to buy the funtana in the near future.

RE: Phase 3 EF - 16
ORIGINAL: whissel_blowa The cheaters do create a neg pressure under the wings that pulls the nose down, very strange that moving your CG BACK would do what you describe... It does not get worse from mid throttle upwards, this is why when I first suggested using mixing over on rcgroups the mix was like 6-7% for the first half of the throttle range and 1-2% for the second half. Mine is still set up like this, my COG is 170mm from the trailing edge of the wing and she flies level power on or off. When I covered the cheater holes I removed the mixing, trimmed for level flight WOT, cut the throttle on a fast pass and she continued to glide dead level before losing speed. Same COG. Says to me the cheaters pull her down under power. I use a wemotec exhaust nozzle made from glass, locks onto the back of the fan and dead straight out the back lined up with the imaginary waterline of the model. Here is a fast pass of my current F16, 142mph :) http://media.fpv-rc.com.au/pp-sun-9th-nov-2008/Mark_229kph.mov.flv.php
WOW [X(] Please post your set up :bat, fan, motor, esc, mods Please I would love to build on of this planes just like that on in the video

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
I know what your talking about I did notice the gear wont clear the top plate and I also have the taler post and a hole bunch of of other stuff to work with. as for the 2 speed I am using the losi 19/26 bells. for the 2nd gear spur I am using the factory 44t spur. and for the 1st gear spur I got an ofna 51t nylon spur, but this spur does not mount on the 2speed hub because its made for the single speed center diff. the 51t spur has 4 mounting tabs with holes to screew ir onto a center diff. What I will do is mill the teeth of a 48t nylon spur (that mounts on the 2speed) and then mill the inside of the 51t nylon spur to fit it around the milled 48t spur. the finished product would be a nylon spur gear that fits the factory 2speed and has 51t. Ill post some pics of this soon.

RE: OFFICIAL OFNA DM-1 THREAD
Muddy you changed it to a single speed? I am also in prosses of making my dm-1 a twin I have the engines and all but I still am working out what I will do about the 2 speed. I really dont want to go single speed. so far I have losi 19/26 clutch bells and as far of the spur gears I have to see how I mount a 51t nylon ofna gear on the factory 2speed hub. and use the other 44t factory spur.

Thats just a prop that has a variable pitch from 6in to 10in across the blades. It goes from 6in gradualy to 10in. I have never used one and really dont know any benefit it might give. are you looking fro more thrust or more speed?

RE: DL-50 or GRRC GF50I
if your talking about the crrc gf50i, I bought one for a verry low price and its a good deal for what you pay. I did have to retard the timing for it to run correctly but for $230 shipped it beat any other engine out there. I still havent flown it but I have ran it on my bench and it runs perfect (after I adjusted the timing). I have never had a DL but I got the crrc because for the price it won over the $390 price on the DL.
