RE: Two Twins Flying
Ed, Thanks for posting the pics. I remember you from that float-fly. I still fly the Sr. Falcon Twin once a year at our float-fly. Still flies great. Jerry

Richard, The cut out for the lights is located 13" to 14" inboard of the tip rib and is 9/16" deep. Hope this helps and good luck with the build. Jerry

RE: Top-Flite T-34
Richard, If you mean the templates for the indentions on the stabs and control surfaces I used a combination of three views and pictures of a full scale to get them close enough since I'm not going to compete with my plane. The lights were from a three view and were cut into the leading edge. I heat formed clear butyrate sheet for the lenses over a hardwood form. My plane is covered with .56 oz. glass cloth and finishing resin (epoxy) and then primed with epoxy primer and covered with real aluminum. The control surfaces and stabs are painted with silver base coat/ clear coat automotive urethane paint. I'm hopeing to finally test fly my plane in the next few weeks. It's funny you should mention Julie Clark. We are having an airshow and fireworks July 3rd and she is supposed to be here in Tullahoma. Jerry

RE: Top-Flite T-34
cactus45, 1. I glassed mine first and then routed them. I sealed the indentions with finishing epoxy. 2. I don't use monokote, but I don.t think yuo would ever get it to stick to the bottom of the indentions. 3. I did use the same servo for steering and yes they do go slack when the gear retracts. Jerry

RE: Contemplating a Twin Sr Falcon
Harvey, The only other picture in my computer is this one landing with floats. I used the same amount of down thrust in the engines that is shown on the plans. I placed the firewalls at half the distance between the single engine firewall and the CG figuring two weigh twice as much as one so half the distance. I have my CG at about 35% of the chord to make it more manueverable. It flies great. I have flown it on a single engine with the wheels on several times including single engine take-offs. Jerry

RE: Contemplating a Twin Sr Falcon
Go for it!! I scratch built my Sr. Falcon Twin from original plans. I added 12" to the wingspan and built the wing in three sections with the nacelles on the center section. It flies great with two O.S. 40FP's. I also built floats for it. There is a picture in my gallery. Jerry

Roland, We do have about 500 feet of grass. I probably will land on the grass. I'm just not sure it will get off in 300 feet even on pavement. Maybe it will after I get used to it. Jerry

Somewhere back in this thread are pictures of a Giant Aeromaster ARC that I built last year. It lasted about 2 1/2 minutes on the first flight. Well I couldn't give up so here is my new Giant Aeromaster ARC. Waiting on a new radio to fly it. Jerry

I'll be there Saturday. I got my Islander down and cleaned it up from hanging 1 1/2 years. Ran the G-23's today and hope to put some flights on it this weekend. Got to limber up the old fingers and get used to it again. Will try to put the wheels on the Sr. Falcon Twin and bring it too.

Eagle, What does your T-34 weigh? If I ever get my new radio, I'm hoping to fly mine this year. I'm worried about how it's going to fly at 19 1/2 lbs. I'm going to find a larger runway than at our club field for sure. We only have 300 feet of asphalt. Jerry

I sure wish I knew how you guys keep your planes so light. I've got a TF T-34 resdy to fly that weighs 19 1/2 lbs. It's glassed and covered with aluminum like Flite-Metal but not. The controls and tail surfaces are painted. Mine took 24 ozs. to balance with an ASP .91 in the nose. Jerry

RE: Top-Flite T-34
I got a new receiver and put the radio in my Giant Aeromaster. On the first flight it went straight in and totaled itself. It was like the radio went completely dead. That sort of took the wind out of my sails early this year so I haven't done much modeling. I'm saving up to buy a new Futaba 12FGA on 2,4Ghtz. The T-34 will fly eventually. Jerry

Thanks Tom, I sure hope spring gets here soon. I found out today that my receiver is okay. I found a couple things on my bipe loose and tightened them and the glitching went away. Guess I'll have to find what's causing the glitches on the T-34 when I get the new receiver in it. Jerry

I finished my Giant Aeromaster ARC. It's covered with SIG Koverall and nitrate dope and painted with Rustoleum. Ready to fly without fuel it weighs 18 lbs. 5 oz. Power is a BCMA 40. Now the weather just needs to warm up again. Jerry

RE: Top-Flite T-34
Thanks Tom. I think my problem is something wrong with the receiver. I took it out of the T-34 and put it in the Giant Aeromaster. I ran the engine for the first time today and at idle it was glitching too. I'm ordering a new 8 channel receiver to see if that takes care of the problem. I'm also considering a new DX-7 radio. RE: Top-Flite T-34
R C, The T-34 is finished. When I started running the engine to check everything out, the radio was glitching badly. I haven't tried yet to figure out what is the cause. I'll probably have it ready to fly when spring comes. I'm putting together a Giant Aeromaster ARC right now. It's painted white and ready to start masking for the red and black trim. I'll post something on this thread when I finally get the T-34 flying. Jerry
