RE: Sherman bogies revisited
My thoughts about that too. I have plenty of those plastic springs. [:D]

RE: NEW 1/16 M36 Jackson Turret Kit- NEW UPDATES 11/15/09
Hey Mike. Far be it for me to give a history lesson on what little I do know (and have read) but the M36 Jackson turret when it first came out was minus the muzzle brake. The M36B2 and later with the fume extractors had the full brake, and then with the turned muzzle variant. All WWII material I have on the initial M36 was minus the muzzle brake, but that doesn't mean they were not used there either. [;)] I was just giving some insight as to why this kit didn't have the brake option, but you're are right ... variety is the spice of life. [:D] - Jeff

I sent them out today. Should be enough for 6 cans, but you will have to glue them together. [:D] - Jeff

That looks sweet and authentic as well! If I keep this up, I'll have more so many conversion kits and no tanks to put them on! [:D] - Jeff

RE: NEW 1/16 M36 Jackson Turret Kit- NEW UPDATES 11/15/09
ORIGINAL: sassgrunt I didn't notice that it comes with a protective cap for the muzzle; rather than a muzzle break.
The muzzle brake was used on the M36B2, not the M36 or M36B1. It was used on post WWII models and with the fume extractor on the barrel. - Jeff

RE: HOB-E-LUBE - Premium Ultra-Light Oil Hobby Lubricant Question
ORIGINAL: bobbart What material should I use to cover the gearbox after using the oil? I don’t what the oil to splatter around Thanks, Bobbart
Material? If you do have as you say a Tamiya Pershing kit, the gearboxes already have the black covers. I usually oil EVERYTHING with the covers off (then re-install them) and then run for 10 minutes or so both ways, then position the gearboxes to drain overnight right before installing them. There will not be any "splatter" at all doing this. This isn't a NASA rocket you're building ... so don't be too hard on yourself. Gee, just wait untill you have to start saving room for all the electronics, battery and connectors! You're gonna cr@p! [:D] - Jeff
ORIGINAL: swathdiver
ORIGINAL: Pzjgr Backyard armor is no longer in business...
Darn, I miss all the stories of 9 month delivery times. [:D]
I fail to see the humor in unsuspecting tankers getting taken for a ride. [sm=thumbs_down.gif] Especially hard earned cash.

RE: muzzle brake and mantlet for my Mato Sherman?
You would be better off just getting firenick's turret kit. Tamiya never made the T-23 turret nor did this tank sport a muzzle brake. You'd be hard pressed to get anything but a Mato mantlet to fit. I think a little sanding/grinding and make the lifting lugs on the mantlet a little thicker and angled back and you would be surprised at the results. - Jeff

Nice looking tank, but the assault gunned Stug's did not have the smoke discharger feature. Nice work on the white finish too. [:D]

RE: Sherman at the YHR shops
ORIGINAL: YHR If you go to Micheals you can find these small bobbins and candle caps. They are made out of a soft wood, that drill and shapes easy. I turn them into muzzle brakes. Are they as good as the cast metal ones. Not a chance, but I have a hard time parting with $25.00 for a muzzle brake.
Wow, you'll spend $400 on a diecast Sherman, but not $25 on a muzzle brake? That price is not out of line what so ever. Oh well. To each his own. [:D]

RE: Sherman at the YHR shops

RE: None for the Tamiya Tigers?
Let's see, so far I have bearings in my T34, Pershing and my second Sherman ... the M4A1E8. The Sturmtiger has the aluminum steel rimmed wheels from WECOHE and I just left it with bushings in it. The rest are just a press fit or drop in. As far as I know the Tiger I is the only one that needs to be turned on a lathe for a perfect hole. - Jeff

RE: INFO needed on Gear box & reductions
Oh also, the nice thing about those gear reduction units is that they come with 10, 12, and 14 tooth gears to dial your tank speed in. Plus, they have ball bearings installed in the units.
