RE: New Tanker
VFX is a good source for the bearings. the manuel will tell you how many you need. i don,t know off hand sine i dont have a Tamy tiger but i feel they are absolutely a must have. the idler upgrades also aswell as the elevation arm. I also always use the Blue gear upgrade in the traverse and elevation gear boxes. best way to upgrade them.

RE: Tamiya sherman DMD w/ MF-03 trouble shooting
With the Pershing MF U you must first slide the left trim down to the lowest point, give it throttle then return it to center. Now you should be able to drive it. It is like putting it into drive in the gear box. The KV1 is the same way.

RE: Clark electronics TK20
Looks and sounds really good, non model specific aside. The the turret traverse is entirely to fast for a WWII tank though. May be accurate for a modern tank but a Tiger I did not turn that fast, nor did the Panther. The price is really the hook. If this thing does all it is supposed to do who cares what model the sound is supposed to be for. It's far and above the quality of a stock HL.

RE: Tank Newbie
I think the Heng long would be a better choice for a first tank. yes they can have issues but they are easily solved and can be greatly upgraded. Even to almost Tamiya quality if you want to go that far. i know I have more than once. The Vs tanks are great but the scale leaves much to be desired.

RE: Buying a Tamiya tank
Congradulations on your new Tiger I and welcome to the forum/club. I'm sure this won't be your last rc tank Tamiya or otherwise. Some manufacturers have models that Tamiya does not make so be sure to look into Hooben and Heng Long too.

RE: ISU-152 found in Ukraine, running
Thats awesome. Amazing that it could actually drive as well as run. Plus it still has enough grunt to climb onto the tank transporter. Amazing.

RE: Trying some new gearboxes
I think this is the way to go in the future. I wonder if you can fit 540 motors on them. Then you would really have some stump pulling boxes. Great set up for a large heavy tank or modern armor.

I love the factory theme Charlie. I was thinking along the same lines. now i can go ahead and build something to go along with it. I was thinking of a blast furnace building. Since I worked at a pipe foundry when i was younger i know all to well what they look like. LOL.

RE: Hobby engine M1A1 Abrams
I never put them on mine but I am also only running plastic tracks. I no longer see the advantage of metal tracks except on very light tanks.

That was per gear box. I did pay just 60.00 dollars for a set of tracks though.

RE: Hobby engine M1A1 Abrams
That is perfectly understandable. The last time I bought them from Karen they where only 60.00bucks apiece. Tamiya prices have all gone up since then, and so has all the other manufacturers.

They Do have a fourth set of gears in the chain. That does not necessarily mean that they are 4:1's though.

RE: Hobby engine M1A1 Abrams
Phil has about the best conversion going. He uses my road wheel spacers on the older style wheels then upgrades the gear boxes and tracks. bThrough in an nice little ElMod and your good to go. You can do the mechanics and go with YHR's DBCRC3 alsowith Benedinni. Very nice set up also.
