Ok, Can I rotate the turbine? If I could move the plug it wouldn't be in the way.

Ok, Last question. Does the SM F-18 need to have the center former installed? I think it's for holding the fuel tanks. It just touches the back of the saddle tanks.. Don't know what it does structurally.. I totally forgot about it and now the Kero plug is right in the way [:@]

Fuel Priming prob/question.
Im almost finished up here with the Titan install. Unfortunately Ive come across a problem. In order to prime the system, I need to run the pump untill the fuel approaches the engine, I used my last 4mm coupling on my kerostart teflon tube and it looks like it's gonna have to be a no fitting run from the solonoid to the engine festo.. Can I safely prime the system this way, By eyeballing the fuel and stopping before it reaches the engine? I know the manual says to let it run out of the festo nearest the engine, I obviously cant do that since I dont have one. I also dont have access to the engine festo itself. Any ideas? Pete

Lipo..
I received my Titan install kit today.. It included a 2500 Mah Lipo for the ECU/Kerostart. As much as Lipo technology scares me Im going to give it a try. My NICAD setup is just too much work and requires over 2 ft of battery lead [:o] How does one condition a Lipo? Does it need a slow charge for the first time? Can anyone tell me what type of connector the charge lead has on it? I would just like some general info about a Lipo battery if you don't mind. I know this could be in the battery forum but I trust you guys the most [;)] Thanks! Pete

Im new to turbines. I had trouble getting my falcon to light off now and then. All my starting troubles dissapeared when I discovered this technique, Just wait about 3 second after the starter disengages then introduce the gas. It works EVERY time for me..

Actually I have found a Build thread on pretty much all the boomerangs so far.. Also, being into jets for such a short amount of time, I wouldn't want to mislead anyone with my inexperience. RE: Boomerang Sprint Build Thread!
Thanks Pete! Actually it's not necessarily the length Im concerned about, My 75" F-16 fits in my car. Its the distance between the two booms. It doesn't seem like you can do anything about that. Are they roughly the same spread as the elen? Can you d your little trick (as depicted) on the Elan as well?? [sm=idea.gif] Pete
ORIGINAL: ddennison HI Pete, I recognize that field from my days in Providence. At that time I don't remember the runway being very smooth but that was 1996-2001.... Have you ever looked at flying at the sod farm with the South County RC guys? Lots of room on the grass donw there and only a 15 minute longer drive I fly mostly scale now but flew my Kingcat off grass for 5 years. Could still be a little tight but could work a Kingcat in there. Used KC might be more economical and the landing gear can take the grass, especially with the trailing link. Good luck, Dave
Hi Dave, The south county guys apparently are anti-turbine [8|] I know one gentleman flying at the sod farm but Im looking to fly a jet at my local field, With my friends. Ive been reading about the sprint all morning and It will work, I just need to know if it will fit in my car [:)] Pete

RE: Help me find a jet for this field
I did some looking around and I think Ill go with the boomerang.....but how many are there? I found the Baby boomer, Nano, sprint, elan and XL. Something I totally messed up in my first post (sorry). I would like this jet to be able to fit in my car so 75" is about the max. I really like the sprint in the scale colors. The nano is a bit small, The elan and XL too big. I haven't been able to find the baby boomer info yet. Lets say I go with the sprint. Does anyone know the spread between the outer sides of the two booms? Where is the best place to buy this airframe (hate asking that question [:@])? Thanks, Pete

RE: Help me find a jet for this field
Thanks so much guys for the responses! Honestly, I wouldn't feel comfortable flying a Euro from my strip. Im sure it can be done as you say but it would not be enjoyable at all for me.. The boomer is a consideration. I should have mentioned that if the jet is not scale (which looks to be the case thus far))I would like to keep the airframe somewhat on the cheap side.. Thanks again guys, I appreciate it! Pete

Help me find a jet for this field
Based on this Google maps satellite image (I apologize for the quality) What type of jet would be appropriate for this field? I would prefer as large an airframe as possible or as you seem reasonable. Something in the 70'-80" long range. I would MUCH prefer something scale but the thought of being able to fly a turbine every weekend has opened the door for a sport jet. Slow stable flight quality is more important than speed for this field and the gear must be able to take a beating. Our longest runway is 280 ft (in red). Realistically, after touchdown a 200-230 ft rollout is available. There is a treeline (in blue) roughly 300-350 ft which must be dealt with for the approach, The treeline is approximately 40-60 ft high. Not a problem with props but I have often wondered how a jet would handle this. I don't think the TO (in green) would be a problem.. If you guys could recommend both a scale and sport jet you feel is appropriate I would appreciate it. Thanks! Pete
