RE: Zippy's lipo's
I own some Zippy-H and a couple of the Rhino packs from our friends at HC. All different sizes, running them in my Heli's and in my cars. I am pretty hard on batteries and have never had any problems with any of my cheap packs.

RE: Belt-CP a toy?
Oh I would not go quite that far. Quite a few of the guys I know and fly with own at least one E-Sky heli. That a TRex flies rings around a Belt-CP goes without saying. Still, I would rather learn something new on the Belt, than crash my considerably more expensive to repair TRex.

RE: T-Rex 450SA arf starting out questions
My 450SA is still going strong after almost 50 hours of flying. In that time I have upgraded the Tail rotor blades for carbon items, the Vertical Stabilizer (broke both showing of). I have replaced the main gear for a V2 set, and I have fitted 325mm Carbon blades. That is it apart from the regular maintenance type of stuff. The point it, replace parts as you break them. And since you are replacing in any case, you might as well fit the best possible parts. It makes upgrading a lot cheaper.

RE: Trex SE GF or Trex SA
I would say that even the SA is going to be way more heli than you can possibly imagine right now! Start off with the SA and upgrade to better parts as you abilities improve. $80 does not sound like much right now, but is does add up to two battery packs and a pretty decent charger! That would be a LOT more useful to you right now than a Metal Head!

I would say Heli Hobby. But that is only because of my personal preference. http://www.helihobby.com/html/trex_helicopter.html For $549 you can get a Trex450S, with a 2,4Ghz radio. Including a 2200ma battery And a charger. Brilliant value for money!!!

RE: Whats the difference?
For the Lama V4 or for any of the Esky Coaxials I would agree with 46U. The 4in1 is a real pain to convert to a aftermarket radio. If you are looking at something like the HBKII or the Belt CP, then like the guys said you would do well to look at something like the Spektrum, JR or Futaba Spread Spektrum radios. The programmable nature of the TX really does make a huge amount of difference. You can dial in some exponential to help you calm down the heli, or you could play with the pitch/hover trim to increase headspeed for a more stable hover. Just two quick examples of what a good radio will allow you to do.

RE: Is this really $399 heli?
If this is your first Heli then I would seriously recommend a coaxial before you even try a CP. The Coaxials are a lot more stable and even auto correct to an extent when you leave the controls alone. In fact, a well setup coaxial will hover hands off for a good few seconds. This will leave you free to learn the basics of the controls. Roll, pitch and yaw and what happens with the Heli facing in different directions. Because they run two motors the Coaxials also have more power in the hover than any FP Heli I have ever tried to fly. Flying Heli's is a great hobby, and not nearly as hard as some people will try to tell you. They key is to take it slow. Small incremental steps. It might cost you a little more to begin with, but the skills you learn early on will greatly reduce your repair bills later in your flying career.

I agree with Koolaidman, There are a bunch of guys who are shooting down a Heli that NOBODY has even seen? My personal opinion is that you are criticizing prematurely. At least wait until you see one before forming an opinion. In the end it really is very simple. If you do not like the new King3 or the BeltV2 or they're prices.... then just don't buy one!!

RE: What size heli??
$705 for a TRex with 2,4Ghz Futaba, Gyro, Hitech servos RTF. Plus [link=http://www.helihobby.com/html/trex_helicopter.html]THESE GUYS[/link] will build and setup the Heli for you. Click on the link and dg down the page a bit and you will find the "Striker Combo Pack Trex 450S with DX7 TX". This seems like brilliant value. RTF with a DX7 AND a GY401/S9650 digital tail setup. The TRex 450S kit goes for about $180 if you shop around some, the SE for around$400-$450. Again, the SE is a lot more Heli and there is a very good chance that you will spend more money later on to get an SE. But for now, the S will get you a very good Heli for a very good price. Add the DX7, a brilliant Gyro and $779 does not look like a lot of money at all!!

RE: What size heli??
I would second the TRex450. The V2 is much more heli, so as a second option if price is such an issue perhaps consider the 450S? The money you save there could be put towards a better radio system? The DX6i has that single thumb wheel, the DX7 has proper buttons for programing. I could not be more happy than I am with my TRex/DX7 combo.

All I can think of is to ask why you would want to hobble a great Heli with such a horrible radio system? You are really going to struggle to tame the T-Rex sufficiently seeing as you will not be able to adjust Expo at all.

RE: Later guys
ORIGINAL: brac1960 No offence to Nutt, every one is entitled to his or her opinion, but I did see him say on one of his videos, not to buy a Dx6i radio because the programing rollers were F****ng junk!! I really don't think thats fair to Spektrum who may be a sponsor or at least paying for there ads on this forum. With out those sponsors this forum would not be as fantastic as it is. I would hope he talked to Spektrum about the problem before posting such a video, if so, and they did nothing about it, then that would perhaps be justified. I can honestly say that if I ever have a problem with my Dx6i, and it was honestly a defect in the product, I would contact spectrum first, and if they refused to help, I would be very upset and would likely do the same thing, but I don't think I would expect to get away with a statement like that on this or any forum, with out some kind of recourse. I'm sure that Spektrum would be all over RC universe about that, if they knew????
Could be. But when I was shopping for my radio I had to decide between the DX7 and the DX6i. I ended going with the DX7 based mostly on Nuttz experiences with his DX6i. My friend, to save money bought the DX6i. Took him 3 months to be able to get rid of it and buy a DX7. That makes me for one, grateful for Nutts opinion.

Not at all. Your stander reciever will be fine. You might just have to move the reciever and ESC around a bit to get the best possible separation between the two.
ORIGINAL: streetracer745 i think tamiya needs to start making some CF parts for their cars. like the durga and DI. i would much ratehr buy a tamiya part than a 3 racing or yeahracing towers and stuff. as long as it gives out a good price and durability. so i ordered my 5700MM system and some super rs4 road tires for my DI. stiffening the suspension and im going to road race it! I really like the sound of the DF03MS. Everything except the Center One Way. I prefer the extra stability of the brakes upfront. Guys, you really do not need a fancy diff for the DF03. Just make sure that you run your rear diff nice and tight. I run MM on 3S LiPo and no problems what so ever. I tighten my rear diff until when I turn one back wheel the other wheel turns in the same direction. Not in the opposite direction. There is still enough slip so that you can hold one wheel while the other turns.

Yes, the Sidewinder will "Drop Into" the DI. Just make sure that you run the smallest pinion and Largest spur that comes with the kit. Take care not to do any landings under power until you have the slipper fitted. Other than that you are good to go.

Try the grease before you retire the DF02. I just completely fill the diff with Tamiya diff grease and wipe off the excess when I have finished screwing the diff back together. Oh, clean out any old grease first!

Thats the one yes. It replaces the Paper Drag Disks with a whole bunch of Durlin bushes and adds a bearing between the Spur and the Slipper Shaft. I have not had any problems with the diffs in mine. Just do a regular check to make sure that the diff is tight enough. Especially on the rear. I get all my parts through www.rcmart.com. They have about the largest selection. There is also RCChamp in Japan and Jasons store on Ebay. Between them you will find anything you could possibly need.
