RE: Magnum engines?
In my experience.... I have several Magnum engines, and have bought and sold several others. They are usually just fine, and offer good value. However on two occasions I had engines come out of the box with issues. One would not run properly no matter what I did to it. I sent it back to be repaired and was simply sent a new engine, good service if you ask me. The second engine that had issues came new in box with rough feeling bearings. Also warranty replaced. So for the most part you get a good value, on occasion you get disappointed and have to wait for a warranty service repair or replacement.

Goldberg tiger 2 with that engine swinging a 12x5 is a perfect fit and an absolute blast. Well mine is built as a tail dragging beasty. I am not sure if the stock trike gear would allow the 12x5 ....

RE: cleaned an engine in prestone and it blackened ... what to do ?
You can use a brass tumbler for polishing ammo brass, you have to take everything apart and be sure all the sand is cleaned out of absolutely everything before reassembly. Depending on what polishing sand you choose, you can polish to a mirror shine or rough metal. You can use walnut or pecan shell instead of sand. This will only remove the oxidation but none of the metal itself.

People that politely ask for advice about something they own,or are going to purchase. Then get all pissy when they do not like an honest answer. Then proceed to tell you how wrong they think your information is. If they knew it all already why the hell did they ask ? LOL

RE: Is it my Radio?
Sorry for your lost aircraft, it happens. I would have a hard time using a rx that had been crashed with no certain explanation. If it was a dumb thumb crash then at least you know it was not faulty equipment. I would ask if you range tested the receiver from several different orientations before putting it back in the air ? That is a must with any new or crashed equipment. There are a lot of things that can account for a communication failure. Such as batteries, antenna orientation, satellite receivers or lack of satellites. If an experianced person checked out your setup I would assume it was ok. If those things had been done. I would send that radio and receiver to horizon and let them tell me what the problem is. I know it is a pain to wait for your new equipment but it is really the only sure way to know. It is cheaper and easier then replacing airplanes.

RE: First Gasser ?
My brother owns one with the DLE 20 on it. the biggest plane I own is big stik.60 I am out of room lol. We usually run a 17x6 on it and let me tell you the thing tears up the skies. I have flown it a lot and it is one of my favorites. It reminds me of a bigger tiger. 60 in how it flies, with a bit more snap. I could not imagine a 30cc but yeah it would absolutely be insane.

RE: New pilot, need a suggestion.
The LT is a great plane, and I love kits too. I applaud you on choosing to build one. It is a great way to go. I have built the tiger 2, and an original Sig Kadet. I had to have covering help with the tiger, but understood it well enough for the second. The old Kadet belonged to my father in law, he had started it and never finished. I was given it and finished it out. I am currently building an ultra sport. I have to admit it has been on the table for a couple of years due to my heart attack. I never bought anything for it, engine, electronics, covering, it is a skeleton. I have to finish paying doctor bills before I get to finish it. My original Kadet

RE: New pilot, need a suggestion.
I will +1 the LT-40 it is a great airplane. As for radios, 6 channels has served me well for years. I do not fly helis or warbirds so I never needed more. ALL of the main brands are good. Spektrum,JR,Futaba,Hitec, and Airtronics all of them are really good, so go with what you like. Hit the Hobby shops and hold them in your hands. One will feel good in your hands. I don't know if a lot of people will say it but the tower trainer 40 is actually a really good plane. If your into saving money. Is it as good as the LT ? Probably not, but it really is a good plane. There are a few at my field and they are good flying and take a beating well. Just thinking out loud [:)]

RE: Why did you join the AMA?
I am a member of a chartered club and I like to visit several other clubs that require AMA should I decide to get on the sticks. But most of my flying is done in a usually deserted, very large public lake access area. I flew here for a couple of years before joining a club. It is rare that other people are ever there. That being said when others do show up the planes gather a crowd quickly. I will land and point out some safety issues. If they are remaining in the parking area, which is about 50ft behind where I land, Ill give em a show. If they are not agreeable, I shake hands, visit, talk about planes, and move on. Flying with the public around, even rarely, is enough reason for the insurance provided. So I joined AMA before I joined a club. Just felt safer since on occasion people who think 1+ horsepower engines spinning twin ginsu knives at 13000 rpm, are "just a toy". After all, that is what I thought before I owned them.

RE: Amazing !
Marcio asked a simple and very understandable question, for good reasons. I was glad he asked it, it gave a wonderful chance to express part our culture to someone from another country. As well as my own personal feelings toward the sacrifices made to insure my generation and others are free. I feel so very blessed to be born in the United States. Every time I meet anyone in uniform I shake their hand and tell them thank you for serving our country. That is just how I feel about things. Admins, please lock this thread. I never intended for anything disrespectful to anyone. Thank You

If this is not the place for it, then by all means please locate it properly. I was in Fort Smith Arkansas sitting in a lawn chair at 930 am, it was 60 degrees not a cloud in the sky. It is a small example of the sort of things soldiers and civilians alike had to endure. It is not celebration. It is about educating those my age and younger, but more importantly never forgetting the ultimate sacrifices made for the freedoms I enjoy.

More Legislation
I just received this. http://www.towerhobbies.com/promos/e-mails/rocket_notice_092711.html Urgent Notice - Your Immediate Action Is Needed Send Your E-Mail By October 10 Help preserve your rights regarding hobby materials Dear Tower Hobbies Customer, Many people are concerned with new government regulations that are designed to limit our hobby industry. You've probably heard about the new FAA regulations limiting our use of R/C airplanes and proposed shipping bans for R/C batteries. New regulations are being considered regarding model rocket motors. This may not immediately impact your particular hobby but it's just another step toward regulation of materials used in hobbies and deserves your attention. The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has recently advised that they propose to terminate a special permit under which model rocket motors and igniters have been shipped for the last 33 years. If the permit is terminated model rocket motors and igniters will no longer be able to be shipped as "Flammable Solids" and will instead have to be shipped as "Explosives." In 33 years there have been no incidents involved in the shipping and transporting of model rocket motors and igniters. Hobbyists need your support. Attached is a sample e-mail that we request you send immediately to express your support. We believe that shipping model rocket motors and igniters as "Explosives" would only cause unnecessary concern for hobby shops, educators, youth group leaders and families using model rockets for educational and recreational purposes. If you believe as we do, please send an e-mail to the Department of Transportation no later than October 10, 2011. To assist you, here is a sample e-mail: TO: specialpermits@dot.gov Subject: DOT-SP 7887 Show Cause Response Dear Associate Administrator, The purpose of this e-mail is to request that DOT-SP 7887 be kept in force as written. The Special Permit, previously DOT-E 7887 has been in place since 1978 and is used by many of us who enjoy hobbies including model rockets, motors and igniters. To my knowledge, there has never been an incident involving the shipping and transporting of model rocket motors and igniters. Further I believe that shipping these products as "Explosives" will create unnecessary fear and difficulty for those handling, transporting, receiving, storing, selling and using these products. After 33 years of use, the termination of the Special Permit is unwarranted and possibly damaging to an educational and recreational product that has an excellent record. In closing, I again request the Special Permit be kept in place as written. - Your Name and Address Please take a few minutes to send your e-mail today. Everything listed here would fly the plane nicely if not a bit of overkill on power. Gray Beard has the right of it however.

So what you are really asking is how to silence the wife, not the engine. That Sir is an ancient question asked since the dawn of time. With few finding an answer. Get her a new Ipod,Ipad,Kindle,or Nook, with a lot of her favorite AUDIO books or movies on it. Anything where some nice noise cancelling headphones would be prudent for optimal use.
