RE: Maisto Rock Crawler
^^^^ Where were you before I ordered everything. LOL jk I found out the hard way about the ESC's. I have to order the car ESC's tonight and a servo. Oh well, gotta pay to play. this is by far the cheapest thing i've ever worked on! lol Beats buying Guns, gun accessories or 4-wheeler parts. Which by the way i'll be sticking to. I would really love to get into RC crawling, but don't have the patience for it. Parts are to small and I'm pretty good at tearing things up. I'm like a bull in a china shop. LOL

RE: Maisto Rock Crawler
1) when you get into the electronics of the crawler, you'll see that everything is on a circuit board, so just adding speed controllers and motors won't work. you'll be limited by the factory board. it will not be digitally proportional controlled. The range also will now be increased. 2) The ESC's are already bigger than what the motors will need, but I guess you could get away with the bigger ESC and just that one ESC instead of one for each motor. 3) No, because the signal coming from the factory circuit board is an all or nothing signal, telling the motor to turn on or off. you'll need a new Rx, which in turn requires a new Tx. 4) Like said above, the circuit board is the limiting factor in being able to control the speed. So basically, i've taken everything out of the truck and started from scratch. Makes it much simpler. Hopefully that answers some of your questions. If i'm wrong, hopefully someone will chime in. I'm here to learn as much as the next guy is.

RE: Maisto Rock Crawler
Not a problem guys. Keep in mind, this is the first rc anything i've ever owned, so I have very little knowledge on the subject. From what little i've learned so far i'm pretty sure all this will work. motors: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4195 speed controllers: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6457 Tx and Rx: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10608 UBEC: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6233 edit: as for the steering, I'm using the same speed controller as above, but a smaller motor. I'm trying to build all this without having to completely hack the thing apart. The stuff should be here today, then i'll get some install pics up.

Just got done painting it. Flat black with some yellow. I have new motors, Tx, Rx, speed controllers and a Turnigy nano-tech 2650mah 3S 25~50C Lipo coming and should be here tomorrow.

Help me spend my $$$$$$$
In this thread I posted a list of things I "think" will work for what i'm trying to do with my new Maisto Rock Crawler. If you guys could please let me know is something wil not work or will work I would greatly appreciate it. If there is something better out there or something that will work better just let me know. Thank you so much for any help you can give me. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10276464/tm.htm

RE: New and ready to modify!
That's what i'm thinking, i just don't know what will all work together. the list of stuff i have above for example, will all that work together or will something start smoking and catch fire as soon as i hook it up? lol That's my real problem, I just don't know what motor will work with what Rx or ESC and so forth.

RE: New and ready to modify!
From what i'm thinking, and correct me if i'm wrong, but can't I basically replace everything with hobby grade parts and have a good set-up? meaning taking out the circuit board, motors, steering motor, batteries and modifing the chasis to accept all new hobby grade parts. Im very good with wiring electronics and can run a dremel tool like nobody's business. lol

RE: New and ready to modify!
No, it's a trigger and wheel, I just thought since i was changing it I might as well get a controller I liked to use. Is there a reason I cannot use it? Like I said, I have no idea what works with what. I've taken the thing apart and the steering is run by a "standard motor FP130-CN/14135/DV, SMAD 020513 ROHS and the front motor is a PF-130SV, 16140-38CB Rear motor is the same as the front.

New and ready to modify!
Hey everyone. The guys are in a competition at work, "who can have the best crawler from walmart"! LOL So, I just picked up a Maisto Rock Crawler. I have a budget of $200.00. What can i do to improve the range first of all, battery life, speed and torque? I hate loosing and 6 of us are compeeting. Surely for $200.00 I can improve this thing a lot! Help me spend my money. This is the first RC toy i've ever owned, so I have no idea where to start.
