Been watching this thread, love the planes. It seems the nose is a bit long for Decathlon, is it and if so has anyone tried to shorten the nose? Thanks.

Hey team, Father has a Senior Telemaster ARF, seems to me the two wing joining spars for the wing halves are a little loose for fit, is this normal? We will be using rubber bands and the struts. Thanks, Mike

RE: Radian pro
ORIGINAL: BarracudaHockey On that radio I believe you have only throttle channel fail safe. You have two choices, NOR and F/S NOR holds the servo at the last position (or throttle channel output in this case) and F/S sets it to a pre-determined position. Set it to F/S and pull the throttle to idle (motor off) and press and hold the wheel till it beeps to set the position. (I'm going off memory here)
Andy, That did the trick, Failsafe was 'set' to on. Thanks for the idea. Glider flies well, looking forward to enjoying the summer with it. Mike

RE: Radian pro
ORIGINAL: BarracudaHockey Well you didn't say what radio you installed other than it was Futaba. I know for example if this was a Spektrum you would simply bind it at low throttle but if I remember correctly, the spektrum recievers won't put any signal on the throttle channel until they have a good RF link and remove it completely if it looses RF link.
Well now that was what I was thinking on the RF link portion. The receiver is not getting a signal since the transmitter is turned off, it is A Futaba T7C 2.4, as shown by the red light in the receiver. There is a couple second delay, maybe three seconds from when the transmitter is turned off to when the motor starts and runs at reduced power. We'll try it this afternoon and report back. Thanks.

RE: Radian pro
ORIGINAL: BarracudaHockey Is the fail safe on your radio set properly? Though you really should be in the habit of transmitter on first and off last.
Andy, Thanks I'll check the failsafe, had not thought of that. Agreed on Transmitter... first on/off last, as we were trying to set the controls my Father (85) and I had some miscommunication and turned the transmitter off, that's how we found this issue. Went through the directions a couple times and cannot see it addressed. Thanks again for the idea. Mike L57532

RE: Radian pro
Need some help and understanding please... Trying to set up Radian Pro with Futaba radio. When we go to low throttle the motor stops, if we shut the transmitter off the motor starts again at very low RPM. Is this normal, seems dangerous?! Admittedly do not understand the ESC very much, have not had this issue with (basic) Radian... flying that glider for two years. Thanks, Mike

RE: Goldberg Senoir Falcon
My Father (84 years old) is just finishing the Early Models Senior Falcon. He had recently built the Falcon 56 III, and said the Early Models Falcon went together much better. In fact he thought the Early Models SR Falcon went together better than the original. I have a set of Senior Falcon Plans somewhere, but not sure they are the original, I think they are from the newer version that came out later. Great Planes sells these plans. Are you looking for the orginal plans from the 1960s?

RE: Corsair Control Horn Question
Mark; What was the weight of your Corsair? Did you have flaps and retracts? Thanks, Mike
ORIGINAL: frenchie79 I built the 60 size Corsair a year ago and felt the same, but as MnnFlyer said, imbed the ply, harden the holes and use Sullivan Steel control horns (they have 4 screw holes per horn) they will not pull out on this size plane-not enough servo torque or stress to pull 4 screws. You will be fine. I have a YS110s in mine and really put it through the speed runs and HIGH G turns-I feel totally safe with the setup. Larger gas models????????? may not use this method. RE: Falcon 56 MkII Build
Gord; Good luck with your Falcon, my 84 year old Father built a Falcon III, to transition from glider flying to power flight again after 40 years. What a great flying airplane, he did really well with it. Unfortunately it met its' demise in a mid-air, only two planes in the sky at that! So, he is building a Senior Falcon now! Enjoy, keep us posted.
ORIGINAL: tryingagain After a strange year and the poor Falcon sitting on the bench waiting for me to put in the the last two hours of build time she needed. She is done (except for some trim). The engine is run in and she is finally ready for her maiden flight. I hope to have it flying this weekend. I will post pics and possibly video if we get any. Cheers Gord
Tom: When you mean "builds heavy", what are you meaning. Is that with retracts, flaps, and paint. Or just the basic model itself? Thanks.

I also carved out the wing tips from balsa blocks (and hollowed out) instead of using the plastic tips provided with the kit.

RE: GP RV-4: Decision, Decisions..........
Thank-you, standard servos. The "go slo" is a microprocessor that is connected between the receiver and servos that reduces the speed in which the servos operate. This way I do not get a jerky motion when servos immediate go full travel when the flaps are raised and lowered; this gives a more realistic flight parameter.

I used Lusterkote over coverite for my GP Cub. Worked well, I laid down a very fine mist of a first coat followed by two light coats and then a heavier coat. Everyone thinks it came out really well. I used Frog tape and a PPG auto body paint tape.

Propeller storage and carrier?
Propeller storage and carrier, has anyone devised a good method to carry and store a variety of prop sizes when going to the field. On any given flying day I might have props that range from 16”, 12”, 11”, and down to combat props which I think are 7 or 8 inches. Really trying to stop from changing them in and out of the flight box, and have them protected so they don’t get damaged nor damage something while traveling. Thanks.

RE: GP RV-4 - How did you mount your receiver and battery?
Devil…yep 1/5th scale pilot, mine is a Great Planes Pilot with a spacer added to get correct height. Good looking plane, she’ll fly great! I mentioned before I changed the tail wheel to look a bit more scale, would be an easy mod for you even at this point if you would like to. Used a Sig scale tail wheel, works great in the grass or pavement; get lots of comments on the tail wheel from RV-“X” owners. Navy… real good looking plane too, love the RV series very colorful.
