2012 Peach Pattern Classic - Who's going?
Looking forward to seeing everyone @ Mac Hodges this year. How about you? I heard the boxes and flight stations have been moved a little to the west due Mac installing a pond of water a little to the east. Steve

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro
Hezik, Thanks for your advice. I'm a newbie on pattern aircraft without wing adjusters. After reading your post, I started thinking about my set up, went out and purchased a digital incidence meter from our LHS to reset stab incidence to zero with aircraft leveled with wings at zero. I noted the settings were all screwed up. Left wing was 0.0 and right wing was +0.2. After confirming right wing not twisted and double checking the numbers, decided to modify the right wing pin holes to achieve 0.0. With aircraft level and both wings at 0.0, checked stabs and discovered left stab was +0.4 and right stab +0.3! Re-adjusted both stabs to 0.0. Can't (easily) remove extra down and right thrust settings because they were set when motor plate was glued inside the airframe. With wings and stabs now at 0.0 and radio trim settings nuetral, it's back to the field for more flight testing. Steve

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro
Does someone know if all of the Wind S Pro ARFs are manufactured at the same place? Do all the fuselages, regardless of the color scheme, come from the same mold? Fortunately, the stab adjuster pin in my red & white scheme airframe did not require this modification. FYI: Although it has not been officially weighed, I believe it's close to 10 1/2 lbs. My stabs were adjusted to +0.25 with wing @ +0.5. Motor installed with additional 3.0 degrees right and down thrust. CG originally set @ 197 mm. Moving battery pack forward and aft while trimming for straight and level flight. Logged 15 flights to date, most of which took place in windy conditions. Programmed 2.0 degrees down elevator @ idle for straight vertical down line. Slight pitch to canopy during full power vertical upline. Mixed +3.0 degrees up elevator and +2.0 degrees right aileron, slaved to left rudder for left rudder knife edge. Right rudder knife edge requires no mix. Fury SA 60-67 motor; Dualsky 90A ESC; APC 21 X 13W prop; 2 ea TP 5,000 mah 25C in series; Pull/Pull rudder; This is my first experience with an electric 2M pattern aircraft. Prior to the Wind S Pro, it's been 2 YS 140L Hydeouts. Steve

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro
Okay, I've read through this thread 3 times and think I'm ready to stop vacillating and commence with assembling mine. Decided to go with the pull pull rudder system since Sebart went to all the trouble hiding the aileron and elevator servos. Planning on alot of measuring before cutting any exit holes/slots in the fuselage. Two questions come to mind: 1. Does the rudder have a hard point for installing the horns? 2. How has the kit supplied tail wheel assembly been holding up.....any issues? Steve

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A
It's normal for the rudder pull-pull threads to stretch, especially if they are too tight when first assembled. Remember, during operation with the recommended servo bellcrank (arm), the pulling line gets tighter while the other line relaxes. For future reference, depending upon the materials used to manufacture the lines, the lines should be installed with a little slack at first, then adjusted again as needed while maintaining a little slack, then continue to monitor the lines until they stop stretching. RE: YS 1.40FZ 5 nipple plumbing?
Tim, Your 5 nipple 140 FZ might be a 140 L (Limited). My 140 L's have 6 nipples: 2 up front, 2 on the left side (with short tubing line connecting these two) and 2 in the back. Also, YS didn't mark their FZ's with an L. The only way to tell you have an L is by the 2 nipples on the back of the crankcase. The nipple closest to the engine crankcase centerline is for the pressure line back to the tank. Steve

RE: Kids - 5 year old how to get him started
A 5 year old! When my youngest was 5, it was airplane airplane airplane all the time. When I took him to the flying field, it was "when are we going home daddy", all the time. You've done your job by introducing the hobby to your son. Now it's up to him. The last thing you want to do is force it upon him. Either it takes or it doesn't. These days, with so much visually stimulating electronic gaming, etc., it's no wonder the kids can't wait to go home. Just my $.02

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A
Everette, The airplane is small and light and it was kind of breezy during the first dozen flights, so I couldn't get a good read on any possible "pitch to belly" coupling issues. If there are any, they are minor. The aircraft is rock solid with the control surface throws recommended in the manual but I need to first establish a set up I'm comfortable with, then I'll pay more attention to programming for knife-edge flight before I attempt knife-edge loops. Like I said, I'm having too much fun just flying it. Steve

Amazing performance. No trim required to fly straight during first flight. Do need to program for knife-edge flight but having too much fun with it right now. Steve Homenda

RE: DIAMOND DUST RC LIVES!!!!!
Ryan, Never experienced an in-flight structural failure related breakup, just a mid-air which really doesn't count. You need to pay special attention to your two elevon servos and the elevons. They do all the work, especially during those high G pull outs. Make sure the elevons, their related control horns and hardware and control rods to the servo arms are tight so there is no chance for flutter at higher speeds. Also, be sure to occasionally inspect all the covering seams for loose edges, dings, holes, etc., and regularly inspect the bottom for damage that can occur during landings. Steve
