RE: Warbirds Over Texas 2012 WBOTX
Friday was great, the early rain kept us down for a bit but the afternoon got REAL active with some beautiful birds in the air. Tomorrow should be perfest in all respects (to include brisket for lunch).

RE: What Are you Bringing to Warbirds Over Texas 2012
So many warbirds, so little space in the back of my SUV! Looks like it's LA-7, FW-190, P-47 and the VAL. The SPAD is down for maintenance after last weeks wild maiden.

RE: BH T-28 Assembly
Update: Did get out to the field yesterday guys and I had increased the opening on the bottom of the cowl (not massive, maybe 4" square). Kept her rich and I did notice a much better performance. On a high speed low level pass the engine quit on climb out at about 75'. Speed, altitude and ideas, I had about 1.5 of the 3 and a dead stick on my hands. Got her turned around and on the ground with no issues, this girl will float if you ask her to. Pulled the plug to find I had an idle bar and no idea who made the plug (or how it got in there since I don't use idel bars)? Replaced it with an OS 8 and she has been "spot on" ever since. Oh, the other thing, I'm running a 14x7 Graupner 3 blade on this OS 91FX (for looks) and may try a 14x8 2 blade to see how it changes things. Other than a few minor tweeks she is just pure fun. Unless something happens drastically, I'm not going to baffle the engine. Sure would have been nice if they would have made the two vents on each side of the cowl "functional" and not just cosmetic. I was landing her yesterday with full flaps in a 6 mph crosswind and never really felt the effect of the wind. Rock solid.

RE: BH T-28 Assembly
Folks, Put an OS 91FX with a Pitts in mine and did a maiden last week. Based on what I read here and ground tests I thought heat could be an issue (along with >100 heat in Texas). After about 3-4 minutes the engine was laboring and we brought her in. The flight itself was fine but I have since opened up the area on the bottom of the cowl. I'll take her out today and see how she likes that. Next step will be to baffle the cowl. I've got a TF Sea Fury with a 91 and the the cowl is baffled and to date we've had no issues. Didn't like the yellow ring on the cowl so thats been repainted black. She is a definate looker and everyone at the field gives thumbs up. Just wish I had pulled the trigger on the BH Chipmunk before they ran out of them (the quality to price ratio is amazing).

RE: CMP Katana 140 - anyone flying this?
I've been flying mine for a few weeks now with a Moki 1.80 and have enjoyed it quite a bit. After being pretty much a Warbird guy for the last few years the Katana is a pleasure to fly, no nasty habits.

RE: Nitromodels Tiger Moth Build along?
OK folks I'm on board with this one too. Bought this model in Jan., may not start it until late March, early April. Planning on a Magnum 120 4s for power, should be enough, not expecting 3d. For the price, sure can't go wrong with the quality I've seen so far. The instructions are a bit dicey at best, something akin to "start gluing things together until it looks like a TigerMoth".

CMP Knock-Off Hellcat Question
I bought one of those CMP knock off ARFs on eBay. For what I paid, it's not a bad bird at all. As you might expect, the instructions were at best sketchy and didn't include where the CG was. At first, I thought I'd use the CMP Hellcat's CG since they both have about the same wingspan. However, I believe the CMP version is almost 6" longer. Has anyone flown (successfully) one of these Hellcats and if so where did you find the best CG to be? I've also found several sites on line that will help you calculate the CG of a bird but I've never used these before and I'm trying to reduce the probability of a "Hair raising" maiden flight. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

RE: Super Frontier Senior - 46 from AirBorne Models
Hi, had this bird about 4 years ago with an OS 60FP on it. More than enough power. She is big and forgiving and a great Sunday flier. I actually modifed it to be a tail dragger and it performed well in that configuration. Lost it when a short tree jumped up and mauled it on approach.

RE: Another Hellcat question!
Just received a knockoff eBay Hellcat. $140 delivered. Very, very well packed and seems to be of equal quality to any CMP bird I've received in the past (maybe better).

Dymond Corsair ARF
Just received my Dymond Corsair and what I've seen is very impressive, not to mention the low price. Has anyone owned/flown one of these and if so, what did you like/dislike? What engine used, etc. Looks an awful lot like the Lanier Corsair (only $40 cheaper). Thanks, Bill
