RE: can you survive in RC tanking being non-mechanical???
ORIGINAL: wackywheelz Thing is, you have to build a Tamiya (could be considered somewhat "mechanical" a task), chase the upgrade parts etc, then theres the cost (and if you're scared of working on them, plonking $1k on a Tamiya is hardly an easy thing to do)... [8|] Plenty have "break downs" in Tamiyas too, let me tell ya [;)]
Ok..you do have a point..you do have to build them. yes..that is "mechanical"..sometimes "Very" [:)]..but maybe im lucky or something..but I have yet to have a breakdown of any sort with a Tamiya...I do care and maintain them like a nut..but...no problems ever with any I have... [:D] also..think about it...if your REALLY into RC Tanks..Then TREAT yourself to the best kits/tanks we can get(Tamiya)...you deserve it..get one(your "Flagship" ) ...you only live once and cant take it with you....If your REALLY into the hobby then they are worth it ..if you just like playing around sorta..then maybe not..........[:D]

RE: can you survive in RC tanking being non-mechanical???
Stay away from Henlongs,....and...... buy a Tamiya Tank.... IF you dont want to fix anything....I have never had a "Break-Down" with any of my 12 Tamiyas..and Ive been running them for years....all of my HL's had "Something" go on them within 2 months of ownership.......If Oddball would have had a tank made by Tamiya we would have won the war alot sooner...[:D]

RE: KING TIGER DECAL PLACEMENT
ok..Im gonna say "NO" because the photo is overexposed..the mud/clay that is on the tank is a very light shade ..sorta like a light tan color mud found in southern France (I think)..Trees have leaves yet..Way to soon to white wash it even if they were..it would just "Stand OUT!!" crew have no shirts..so must be a warm summer day......its just a overexposed photo with light colored mud/clay caked on ...so it looks like white wash.....just my thoughts[sm=72_72.gif].....also they could be applying camo with a brush...not all camo was sprayed on..some was brushed. if not France...was the King Tiger ever in Italy???

RE: 1/16 RC HalfTrack, how to order?,what does it say?? HELP!!!!
ORIGINAL: BIGMIG There are two things that don't apeal to me,the scale ( why can"t they make them bigger with at least the same quality as a HL tank). And the second is always the "price for what you will be getting".They don't have half the stuff in them that a typical tank has,and yet they want three times or more dollar wise for them.I think HL could do very well with a few models of these if they cared to make the initial investment in molds to produce them. All we can do is wait and see, if we remain long enough in this hobby. BIGMIG [;)][;)][;)]
UMMM..why would you want it "Bigger".......its 1/16 ...same as the HL and Tamiya tanks

RE: to torro KT owners..
one question..and correct me if Im wrong...Why would anybody want to replace the Tamiya "Heavy duty" metal Drive sprockets that comes with all the kits , with those that are "feather lite" zinc/tin type? are they the same type of light metal as the metal drive sprocket upgrade for the HL Panzer III offered by Mato??? I have those ...and if so..they dont even come close to the Tamiyas. The Tamiyas are HEAVY casted and the others are like "metal-plastic lite"....just wondering why they even make them for the Tamiya??? If you were to put them on the Tamiya King Tiger it WILL NOT be an upgrade..thats for sure.

RE: Sherman or Panther
ORIGINAL: lanierrl Bummer!! I tried to order the Panther from HLJ last night and as soon as I placed the order it went from "In Stock" to "Back Ordered." So, I have no idea when I will actually get it. I have seen a lot of websites do that though so I won't get to upset with HLJ.
I have ordered many things from HLJ in the past years, all my Tamiya kits with NEVER a problem...If it was "in stock" when you clicked it to cart...and then went to "BackOrdered" then you most likely got the last one they have on hand...even if it is "Backordered" they will have it in a day or so because they are a couple of blocks down the street from the huge Tamiya Factory/Warehouse complex ...they always get things first from Tamiya too..The EMS shipping is top notch also..it will get to your door in four days...and thats from Japan!!!!
ORIGINAL: YHR Great Job on this tank. The painting is awesome. I am curious what you used for masking. Do you have any photos of it masked up.?
Hi YHR Thank You NO Masking ...was all done free hand...I Tried to follow the diagram pics Tamiya provides as close as i could ..General outline of the shape ,then fill it in...I first sprayed it the dark yellow...then did the dark green ..and then the red -brown (rust) [:D]

RE: Sherman or Panther
The only issue I had with the sprockets was fixed by just lightly filing the inside of the sprocket teeth so they wouldnt "stick" to the track and meshed smoothly...NOW all that has changed..Tamiya has fixed that with new sprockets in all kits so NOTHING to worry about .... all is PERFECT...It was really no big deal anyway ,took all of 5 min to fix .. The Tamiya Panther and JagdPanther are OUTSTANDING kits...GO GET THEM [:D]

RE: Sherman or Panther
ORIGINAL: lanierrl Your photos show a transmitter in the Panther box. Does it come with the kit?
Yes it does come in the #56021 kit,not the U.S. overseas version #56022 kit I order all my kits from www.hlj.com The kits from hlj are the japanese release,as they include a radio, batteries, and charger.it is kit number 56021...the U.S.and over seas release is kit #56022 that does NOT include the radio, batteries,or charger. I find that ordering from hobbylink japan is the best value for a complete full function kit .They are A#1 ....even with the EMS shipping(get to your door in 4 days) cost from Japan...it just about comes out to the same cost as if you were to ..1)buy the kit+pay shipping 2) buy the radio + pay shippping 3)buy batteries and charger if needed + maybe some more shipping. Ive ordered about 6 kits from www.hlj.com over the years and never EVER a problem!!![:D]

RE: Sherman or Panther
I own both/all...and I would say the Panther...because it has more functions than the Sherman..dont get me wrong..I love the sherman...I really wish Tamiya included the recoil on it ...but as for the Panther( im a German armor fan anyway) Its alittle bigger and has a mean look to it...the problems have been resolved and it is a Fine Kit..you can check out my build here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5780423/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm a few post down from the build is the camo finished. also the King Tiger is the biggest Tank and is Just AWESOME!!!! one of the best..and of course there is is the new JagdPanther..AWESOME Also!!!!
