RE: Dual Batteries
Dave, Just be sure to charge them separately. Check Red Scholefield's website for info about this. I use dual batteries on my Staggering and when cha4rging just do them one at a time. http://www.hangtimes.com/redsbatteryclinic.html

RE: trailing edge of aileron repair need help
Take a piece of 1/4" balsa and cut out the aileron and fit the stick, sand & cover. Or maybe you could use some filler and sand & cover. I agree wit pimmnz; just seal it, cover, and go fly. The only way I know to keep it pristine is to hang it in the living room (that'll get HER blood boiling, but that's why we married 'em)

If it's an early model G-shark, raise the ailerons for your first flight to avoid tip stalling. If I remember correctly, later model fixed that problem, but the early ones were tip stalling motha's.

RE: 4 stroke pressure tap, To use or not to use
Charley, No haven't been over to Joe Pool Lake yet. Recently moved down here from places where is snow’s and just joined the Dallas RC club. And yeah, I've been around the sun a few times. Been doing models since the 50’s I had problems with an OS 40SF years back. After listening to a multitude of suggestions one of the guys told me to try his new bottle of fuel. Next flight the engine ran perfectly. Tried my fuel again and had problems. Of course the my fuel looked dirty by then. Must have had 10 flights out of that bottle and dumped the used fuel back into the bottle after all those flights. New fuel cures most ills. So now I dump my used fuel into a spare tank and use it up on the 1st flight. That way I'm not introducing and increasing the crap in the "good fuel bottle. Up til then I usually didn't have much left over fuel. Flew the tanks out and deadsticked in (good training if it ever happened unexpectedly) Haven't had a problem since I started doing it thata way. BTW dcii, didn't mean to hyjack your thread so I'll shut up now.

RE: 4 stroke pressure tap, To use or not to use
ORIGINAL: landeck If w8ye and earlwb say you can reuse the fuel left in the tank at the end of the day, then you can be sure that is true[;)]. I also have been doing that for many years without any problems what so ever. Bruce
That's only true if you use the down doaded fuel on your 1st flight of the next time out. Do not dump the used fuel back into yor fuel bottle!!!!!!!!! I had personal experience that doing it your way is wrong. The used fuel builds up hydrocarbons and oils over the time the bottle is used and by the last 1/4 of the bottle, the fuel is lousy and gives you engine problems. That's a true experience, learned back in 92. Just because you do something wrong doesn't make it right. Been doing model airplanes for over 60 years-you want to argue?

RE: 4 stroke pressure tap, To use or not to use
I've done it both ways. Doesn't seem to matter much, which ever you choose. I download my last fuel tank load into a separate bottle and use it on the first flight of the day next time out. I ended up with bad fuel after dumping the used fuel back into my fuel bottle. so I stopped doing that. I am assuming you're not thinking about hooking up the vent line to the crankcase vent. That's not a good thing.

RE: From the 60's - What was your 1st plane ?
sorry to take so long to answer. The servos had a hinge point offset from the rotary output of the servo. That way the first part of the servo rotation didn't give much movement to the control, yet if you held the Tx switch long enough you'd get full throw. It reduced the amount of control movement while "beeping" the switch. That make any sense?????????????

RE: AMA sanctioned club looks to punish members
It seems to me that both joebahl & Astrohog are correct. As Joe stated, this issue wouldn’t have started had Dragger paid his due on time & Astro is correct about the BOD & club officers not operating by correct and legal parliamentary procedures. Not sure about the legality of this whole thing since it’s a non government club, yet operating on government property. I’d like to see that answered in court. . I think the issue now is to watch and see whether there is any reconciliation this January and what happens then…… It’ll be interesting, at least. By the way astro, your post to Dennis is way out of line. Are you trying to be an ugly American? Or just a redneck. Canadians are our northern brothers. I served in both countries just so you can spout off and they can offer their opinions. Don't want to start a fight with either you or joe. Like I said, the interesting thing will be to see what happens next.

I have mixed the throttles to the rudder and turn the mixon/off with the landing switch. (JR 783 & 8103). I just use it on the ground for taxi. Don't want that feature in the air since I use the rudder during flight. Have had guys scratch theirs heads trying to figure out whats goin' on while taxiing. You could easily do the same thing for water taxi.

RE: AMA sanctioned club looks to punish members
I spent the day reading all the postings Here's what I understand: Taildragger is at fault for not paying his dues on time. TlDgr has made himself into a PITA with the officers AND the membership ands is now crossways with the club and has been removed. TlDgr is now grasping at any straw to make problems for the leadership and is trying to make a ruckus about everything. The club President is at fault for abusing its members by coercion and name calling. The officers aren't following Roberts Rules of Order and it sounds like they haven't ever read them. The change in the by-laws on the penalty dues issue wasn’t by vote. A discussion and agreement isn’t a vote. More problems have been created by not following RoO in all clubs I’ve been a member. Follow them or stand by for lots of trouble. Questions: Does the club have a statement (in the constitution or by-laws) that the meetings will be conducted under RoO? Is there a Sgt at Arms? (As I interpret the rules, he is the one who can remove disorderly members, not the club president). If any of the members are fearful of the officers, why not have an attorney present with them at the next meeting. What action can a club member take if the meetings are as described? Can there be a lawsuit? Who ends up paying? I know that each state is different, but in the last state in which I lived, club officers can be held accountable and sued. They are responsible for the clubs operation and legality. Threatening members who disagree with the club president should be documented and reported to the city. (And an attorney should be present at the meetings) Conclusions: The club is run poorly and all of the BoD should be voted out and new by-laws written. It doesn’t matter how nice of a guy they are or that they’re trying. The club is a mess and should be reorganized. Remember, the statement?, “It only takes a few good men to do nothing…" or something like that. Why so many BoD members? I would think the elected officers, past president, and 3 or 4 members at large would be enough. The best for all concerned is for Taildragger to walk away from this mess, join another club, clean up his act by paying on time, and keep his mouth shut. If the club is so badly mismanaged, it will diminish in size and probably die a slow painful death. Taildragger should lay low for a year if he wants to try reinstatement. Two years would be better to allow for the club to either heal or get worse. If Taildragger finds that his next club is so poorly run, he should become active in it’s operation by running for office rather than sitting back and bitchin. Again, keep your mouth shut and do something constructive. Nuff said?

RE: Looking to increase club meeting participation
1st off, most club members don't want to sit in a business meeting voting on what brand of grass seed the club will use or other mundane stuff. I remember sitting in a meeting listening to what soda we were gonna sell at the club contest. I thought I had died and gone to hell. Most business stuff bores the average member. That said, How close is the membership? Do you do things together? Coffee? Lunch? Lots of newbie’s? They will need help with building tips and trimming. Any prizes? Like a gallon of fuel drawing for all present? Will the club be able to afford that cost? What about the gas fliers or the electric guys....... what do you have to attract them? Maybe a monthly raffle? One club I was privileged to be in, had a breakfast (and their own clubhouse) before the Saturday meeting. $6 and you had eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy, hash browns, orange juice, milk coffee and sautéed onions & green peppers, the works. It was great. Almost ready to move back just for the breakfasts. About 1/3 to 1/2 of the membership showed up. What about building programs or holding the meeting at a different member's workshop. Watch that one though. It quickly degraded from snacks into a full course meal type deal. Anything "how to" ought to garner some interest if the membership has new people. Some of the answers you seek depend on the age of the club & membership. One club, back in the day, had 2 meeting per month. One was a business meeting , the other a building meeting. but at that time we were all new to the R/C game. It degraded into 2 business meetings many years later and wasn't well attended. You might try polling the membership asking what they want at the meetings. Realize that not all members are that into flying. Some have familys and scoccer or T-ball events they have to hit........ or car races or (ugh) golf. 80%/20% rule is alive and well, unfortunately. The dancing girls sounds nice but don’t know if my heart could stand it. But if any gals are in the club, what about some chip n dale dancers for them? Or any young flat belly’d club members willing to give their all for the club?

RE: AMA sanctioned club looks to punish members
Seems like this has gone on way too long. Taildraggers choices: 1. Continue to fly st the site by paying the city fees and continue to be a thorn in everyones side. 2. Eat a load of humble pie and try to make ammends with the club officers and the membership 3. Go to court at whatever the cost 4. Call my cousin Vito. He's driven around in a Towncar by these huge guys, (his friends maybe?) but is supposed to be a carpenter. 5 Start his own club with any & all malcontents 6. Join another club somewhere far far away from this mess. 7. Leave the hobby altogether 8. Continue being a pain in the ass and keep the war going, which makes no sense unless you're a really unhappy person. But what good will it do? Did I miss anything? Seems like I didn't see the words "fun" and "Enjoyment" and why we play with toy airplanes in this diatribe. At this point who is right and who is wrong no longer means anything. The battle lines have been drawn and no prisonors policy hads done it's damage. Maybe #7 is the answer.

RE: Nitro vs. Electric
dbarnes6, Oboy an electeric vs nitro fight! (It's like Chevy vs Ford) The best advice I can give you is to get involved with your local AMA club. here's the link http://myweb.cableone.net/twist/index.htm I've had both. Both have plus's & minus's. Talk to some of the electric fliers in the club but realize both nitro & electirc fliers will have an agenda and will try to convice you their's is the best & only way to go. You can end up spending lots of $, so talk to people first and start small. You don't have to have the latest wizz-bang charger and most espensive batteries. nor the biggest & badest glo starter. I like what 378 told you. "What ever puts a smile on your face." I've been in this hobby since 1958 and that's still great advice. Stay with it long enough and you'll probably end up with both modes of power.

RE: Ed Moorman's theory
Ed, Why is it that no one mentions critical single engine airspeed? I've made a takeoff, single engine, on my Twinstar and made single engine go arounds with my Dual ace, but had plenty of airspeed during both problems. If you get slow enough I don't care how much power or thrust you've got a twin will want to roll over and kill itself. Critical single airspeed is important and yet not many in RC understand that concept. Your comments??
