ybe cause you the first off and they had to make molds etc for the turning and you won the booby prize and got to pay for the initial cost ))

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
Ok I got some finished the past few days with the tail feathers still have little more work to do it is a slow process so please bear with me I hope to start building in a couple weeks so will be pushing it. However I had to take a small break to make some adjustments for a proJect for Holoman AFB doing exact 1/4 scale Predator and Reapers for them and I have to redraw the Cameras with more detail so they can be 3D printed

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
Ok guys I should have more to show this afternoon. the wing layout had almost 100K worth of lines and overlapping lines I am still cleaning up but sb finished and placing parts today. thats one of the things I hate when getting stuff from autocad users is there are so many layers etc you need to spend days even weeks cleaning them up before they are useful for solidworks ))

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
its on slow mo for a couple days while I retrace some stuff so I can use it in solidworks. just the center section of the wing alone has 20 thousand lines cause of the way it was drawn so my prog keeps freezing up when I try to move into position

well I have some tracing of outlines to do to get ready for frtaming so it will be a day or two. on side note I have a complete set of hellcat factory drawings coming so that would be another cool project too bad only crappy paint schemes for them unless I go british even then not many

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
I dunno I will post later what he has written down for the motors and stuff but he just did a look at the diameter of the rotors for scale and found helis with abt the same and said ok they 9 lbs this is 2 so 18-20 lbs lol so I dont trust it plus I want some wiggle room for detailing etc. I figure if can lift 35 lb plane and this comes in at 20 ish lbs then we good. also will be possibly doing a vacccuum formed fuse shell or a glass one to cut down on weight but would like to try and get an all built up one flying too

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
I just looked and right now the fuse comes out at 4.2 lbs and that is all out of lite ply. The cardboard I was put onto is not the same as what you normally find it is a strong liteweight corrugated. I worry abt moisture with it more than anything being in high humidity here but am told just spray it with a clear coat or something will give it a barrier.

yea but I gave him the drawings from the hurricane manual to make scale ones plus he doesnt make for 3rd scale he was going to use my info for scale gear but i kept getting got 1 or 2 more peices to go etc and finally after 2 yrs i gave up I was going to do the plane for Brian O Meara he had a relative flying hurris but without the gear it didnt happen

RE: Vailly Aviation Hawker Hurricane Build Thread
looking great. I did a 1/3 scale enlarged from his plans. have the book hurricane II manual which is amazing book. tyhe only problem is I havent found anyone making scale gear for this plane. the hurricane manual shows the gear setup and I will try to cad up a set in solidworks sometime and do another 3rd scale. the hard part is the gear needs to torque them into rotating 15 dsegrees to fit in the wing properly will be following thread

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
Any of you helichopter guys got any ideas on electric motor setup for this turning 3 blade heli props abt 40 " on diamter the setup listed looks like prob 20 lbs is max weight but it there better options out there to lift heavier. I would like to try and get a lift for a 35 lb plane just to be sure and have extra lift. Also to save weight what do you guys think abt using some cardboard formers in the fuse and wings where they are just used for shape?

ok spent half the night and this morning trying to figure out his drawings for the wing and I think I can get started finally. I will have to redo the plans when finished so errors are fixed and so they are legible to the average modeller

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
lol thanks but it is also the biggest headache for me trying to figure out these plans plus all the fixing up have to do to them mainly in the ceiling and floor stuff none of the notches and tabs are lining up. of course that happens when plans drawn in 2d and now with 3D Cad so easy to use i get spoiled forgetting how much modding i used to have to do to my plans back in the day

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
Well I am getting closer to finished with the fuse. there are a lot of little errors in the parts and I am fixing them as I go so things are going slower than expected. I hope to be finished with fuse the next 2 days and onto the wing and tail and hopefully in the next couple weeks I can send off for the kit. however until I get it all fixed it would be a waste to get a kit now as a lot of notches etc dont line up properly.

RE: 1-6th Scale V-22 Osprey Prototype Build
Well I got the nose set together I see a few tweaks need to make. its taking longer than i wished because the files were drawn in autocad so each part has a million nodes to them and if they were sent to the laser as is it would take a week to cut just the formers so I am redoing them in solidworks as I go. 7 down 20 to go
