RE: Joe Nall Incident
Oh well i sold my trailer this morning to my neighbor who is moving from El Paso TX. to Texarkana TX. over 800 miles... I haven't used it since I bought it new in 2010. PITA to get in and out of my (limited) RV Parking area however I do hear what you are saying. Liability of course on all vehicles, but on a $3000 RC who's street value is probably $1500.00 turn key, Naw. Like one poster pointed out, take two birds that size and jest try to collide them in the air. Depth perception, fast moving directional isues, etc... it's virtually impossible to get two of them lined up together. Accidents i.e. "Crap" happens, if you cannot afford to eat the costs, leave it in the car. If someone intentionaly shoots you down i.e. "ShotGun" or other firearm device, hey go after him and take it out of his azz, or take him to court, depends on what part of Texas your from...

Well if you can't afford the loss, buy flight insurance on it... Loyds of London will insure anything... at a price. If you can't afford the insurance then don't fly. I have a new truck $46,000 it's insured, $25,000 Harley it's insured, $3,000 New Custom Cargo Trailer No Insurance. I can absorb the loss on the trailer but not the first two...

RE: How
I had one of those H9 Ultra Sticks 1.20 size when they first came out, had a honkin' MDS 1.48 on it, I was at about 300 ft. altitude, decided to dive it wide open throttle towards the ground and pull out at the last micro second. Well as it was loosing altitude at quite a rapid rate, I saw both Ailerons depart, followed by the Elevator (Both Halves), and by then it was a little too late to pull up, and the "pull up" command wasn't quite working too well anyway...!!! That thing hit so hard, a fiberglass arrow shaft pushrod went through the receiver, the fraking engine was completely inside the clear plastic 14 Oz. Nitro Fuel Tank (Looked real funny), and all of the wing ribs came through the leading edges of the wing and looked like built in machine guns.... Man it was the absolute best crash I have ever had, Oh it was about a foot below the surface of the field.... absolutely fantastic mushroom shaped cloud of Balsa and Ultracote..!!

"Solar Flares", now I have a new excuse...Thanx...!!!
ORIGINAL: Charlie P.
ORIGINAL: bignasdy Seems theres alot of "lost communication" crashes.
You have to blame something. Can't just say "I screwed up" or "I forgot to check the receiver battery before the flight". And since we can no longer yell "I got hit" we have to accomidate the new technology by fabricating "brown outs" and solar flares or whatever to explain our crashes. If you can walk around that water tower while talking on your 2.4 GHz cell phone without losing signal you can also likely fly around it. I think a lot of folks also load up on metal geared digital servos without regard to what can happen if one binds in flight and sucks your available voltage/wattage below Rx operating limits. That's not a frequency problem. That's an application problem.
RE: AMSOIL SABER 100:1 PRE MIX SYNTHETIC 2-CYCLE OIL AND AMSOIL QUICK SHOT FUEL ADDITIVE
Dude, from a fellow Texan in order to sell me on something, learn how to spell...!!
ORIGINAL: jloftin Why i use AMSOIL products ? I have been flying giant scale r/c planes for about ten years now. The first time i saw giant scale planes was around 2002 i went to a giant scale R/C fly-in in Lebanon TN where i saw many awesome flyers there, Pros then and now !!!!!! most of them were flying Carden planes with DA engines !! WHEN I SAW THEM " I WAS HOOKED " and at the time i didn't know much about any thing that had to do with r/c planes or engines. I did know i wanted to fly them and loved the scale and design of the planes and OOOHHHH YES THAT AMSOIL STICKER ON THE COWL OF JUST ABOUT ALL OF THERE PLANES ??????????? NOW LET FAST FORWARD 2012 NOW I HAVE THE PLANES I DREAMED OF FLYING !!!!!!!!!!!! and i have a lot more knowledge about what to use on my planes to make them the best planes i can fly servos , electronics ,covering, hardware, battery's, plane kits. AND YES ( ENGINES) AND THIS IS WHERE THAT STICKER COMES IN THAT I SAW IN 2002 AMSOIL I have been using AMSOIL OIL PRODUCTS for ten years now on my Giant Scale R/C engines now. the engines are two -cycle electronic ignitions motors that operate in ranges from 1:200 to 6:800 rpm with a flying time of about 12 min i use one pack of the AMSOIL SABER 100:1 premix packet to a gallon of gas this mix will work with 100cc 50cc 30cc motors and i even break in the motors with this same mix adjusting the carburetor after about three or four gallons of gas through the motor. The reason that AMSOIL is so awesome and easy to use in 100cc 50cc 30cc is that it provides optimum protection at 100:1 when the motor manufacturer has specified a 50:1 or 30:1 mix ratio. The reason AMSOIL can do this is ( THE OIL RESIST CONSUMPTION AND EVAPORATION BETTER THAN CONVENTIONAL TWO-CYCLE OILS.THE COMBINATION OF PREMIUM BASE OIL CHEMISTRY AND SUPERIOR ADDITIVE TECHNOLOGY ALLOWS SABER 100:1 TO DELIVER MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE AND PROTECTION IN SMALL ENGINE APPLICATIONS EVEN AT 100:1) Saber pro 100:1 is designed for lean mix ratios ,it contains high temperature detergents for small power equipment, 100cc 50cc 30cc it has excellent lubricity and cleanliness properties to control friction and help prevent wear, plug fouling and ring sticking IN SHORT EASY STARTING NO BURPS SPUTTERS DEAD STICKS SMOOTH RUNNING DURING THROTTLE TRANSITION COOLER RUNNING LESS MAINTENANCE LONGER PERFORMANCE BEFORE ENGINE OVERHAUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS KNOW BETTER PRODUCT ON THE MARKET I CHOOSE AMSOIL AS MY AIRPLANE MOTOR OIL FOR PERFORMANCE . QUALITY AND DEPENDABILITY please ask any questions that you have about AMSOIL i have the wright information that you need for quality performance of you oil product AMSOIL FLYER AND DEALER JAY LOFTIN www.jayloftinyoutube.com amsoilj@hotmail.com
RE: Chosing a New Engine OS, Magnum, Thunder Tiger
Wow, 1.4 oz. made that much difference for you in weight...??? http://www.hobbypeople.net/index.php/catalog/product_compare/index/
ORIGINAL: Ernie Misner At one time I did replace the Mag. 46 with a Mag. 52XLS for a while. Yes, the 52 made some crazy HP but I didn't care for the increase in weight at all in that plane. The ASP line from Hobby King is attractive too and same basic engines as the Magnum's. Andy, if your OS carb is a rear needle version it might just be easier to see how you like the Mag. carb first. The OS 46 carb I used in my Mag. was an older, front needle carb which I like. Don't baby your new 2-stroke when you break it in. Best to put it on the bench and crank it up to full throttle, slightly rich of course, but not blubbering or 4-cycling, just a rich 2-cycling setting. Let it run and then cool down a few times that way and it'll be ready to go. Do you know why not to run it slobbering rich or baby it? Thanks, Ernie Misner

ORIGINAL: tenacious101010 Not a lot of people are aware, but the worlds first airline service was here in Tampa Bay Florida from St Pertersburg to Tampa in 1914. The Florida Aviation Historical Society will be holding a celebration on the 100th anniversary of the first scheduled airline. I am willing to work from here in Tampa to put on an RC event just for commercial airliners. Anyone with a commercial airliner and painted in the airline paint scheme. Anyone interested? Aircraft can be any aircraft from before the early Ford trimotors to DC-3s to modern aircraft. There will be huge events taking place in this area and if there is enough interest, we may find a special location to hold the event here in Tampa or in St Petersburg. Thanks, Denny
Yes, I run Type "F" in all of my larger 2-strokes, they will idle till empty. Also if it is hydro locking your tank may be to high in the fuse, it should be centered about even with the needle valve...it should run flawless when all of the pieces of the puzzle are there...
