RE: Tiger 1 Div. GroBdeutschland Winter 43-44
Craig I'm really really impressed, you've outdone yourself! Thank you so much for your outstanding attention to detail, you did it the way I wanted it to look. Bravo! Can't wait to see it in person, install the electronics and battle those pesky Allies. I hope you'll be able to hand it over when you present it at the club. [:D]

No, they are exactly alike, just arranged differently then what you posted. Like I said get the book, it's got great info on the tiger battalions and even information on the camo used.

RE: Revised Organizational Chart - Pz.Abt. 501
According to "Tigers In Combat I" it was 26 February 1943 when the unit was absorbed into 7th and 8th Kompanies of Pz.Rgt.7. The chart you created is already in "Tigers In Combat I" as of October 1943. Get the book! It has a great deal of information on all the Schwere Panzer-Abteilung battalions.

RE: Need your help, Spektrum Dx6i and Taimya DMD
Ok, all my tanks are set the same, drive on right stick, control turret on left. This is how I set the left stick to fire main gun by throwing the left stick all the way up and machine gun by throwing the left stick down...first make sure that all setting on transmitter are set to default (undo Jeff's settings), then reset DMD and go through setting up the sticks...up/down/left/right. Once that's all done this is how I set mine up, on the transmitter go to your settings screen, then to sub trim, on Thro your going to increase to +55 (roll the roller to the right), once set to +55 with tank on throw the left stick all the way up....it should fire. The machine gun is easy, exit the screen and on the left stick vertical trim set it all the way to the bottom...now when you throw the stick down the machine gun should fire. This is my mickey mouse way but it works. [:D]

RE: Need your help, Spektrum Dx6i and Taimya DMD
ORIGINAL: Alan123 Hello, I use this gear in my tanks and it is ok. One tip that may help. Check to make sure that your servo leads are plugged in the right way around. The black cable should be facing out and the white cable should be facing inboard. I cannot see from the pics if the cables are correct however it is an easy thing to overlook, I have done it many times. The black outside cable is the negative and should go on the terminal marked with a minus (-). It might also be that the KV1 DMDs have the safety setting on them like the Pershing where the motors will not turn until you have pushed the throttle slider all the way back, then pulled the stick all the way back to get it out of electronic neutral gear. Also set you tank up just like Tamiya say to otherwise you will have trouble with firing your MG and Main Gun. Cheers Alan
Alan's right, I completely forgot I had the same issue as you with my Panther. All I did was reverse (turn around the plugs) the leads going into the receiver. It's hard for me to describe, but basically where the plugs go into the receiver just reverse the direction....you can see on one side of the plug metal leads, they are all facing one direction, just turn them around to face the other direction. Hope this helps, it worked for me.

RE: Need your help, Spektrum Dx61 and Taimya DMD
I've found that the Y-cable can be loose even when hooked up to a battery, if you have two batteries then hook up one to the DMD and one to the MFU and try to rebind. Also make sure the batteries are fully charged. When binding and successful you'll get a solid orange light but also you will get the tank starting sound. Just noticed you don't have the bind plug in, that hooks up to the batt. plug on the receiver then with the tank off and transmitter off and the bind plug in the batt. receiver slot turn on tank and on transmitter hold the trainer switch up and turn on transmitter. If the light on the receiver turns solid and you get the tank startup/run sound your good to go and remove the bind plug. Otherwise I don't know what else to tell you.

RE: Need your help, Spektrum Dx61 and Taimya DMD
Once you have the receiver bound then you can setup the receiver so you drive with the right and control turret with the left (All my Tamiya Tanks are set up this way). Ch.1 goes to Ale Ch.2 goes to elev Ch.3 goes to Thro and Ch.4 goes to Rudd on receiver. I also use the AR6200.

RE: Nov DAK Battle 2009
Can't wait to see your progress Doug! I'll be there to with my Early Panther G, I didn't like my original camo so I'm redoing it. If you want to strip acrylic paint to the primer then Super Clean will do it (takes only an hour), it's a cleaner degreaser that didn't hurt the plastic and metal on my Tamiya Panther; comes in a purple container (have to wear rubber gloves though, it's very strong). Here is progress so far on my Panther with zimm (new camera).

Just so your aware caribmar your going to have to modify the mounting points on the lower hull to mount the HL gearboxes, and their just as loud as Impacts (maybe more) [&:]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyhnvwMxTeY

RE: INFO needed on Gear box & reductions
One of my Tamiya Tiger I's has Impact gearboxes in them but I use the Tamiya tracks (not metal), and yes they do slow your tank down (15-17mph scale speed). I do think they're worth it if your going with metal tracks, the only con though is the noise from them (the noise on mine haven't reduced that much yet). Jeff in our club swears by them and he runs Impacts with metal gears in all the tanks he battles with. On the tiger another con is if one of the pins backs out it could strip your gearbox (happened to me), so always check your pins before and after running your tank (just like real tanks). I haven't tried ETO's gear reductions, is that the pinions or the heavy competition gearboxes? Sevo says for the competition gearboxes there is a geardown you buy seperate.....I just wish he'd lower his prices to around $200 for his gearboxes. [;)][:D]

RE: Tamiya M4A3 Sherman conversions
Looks great! You mean to tell me you primed, painted and plan to clear coat and decal it all in one night? I was told to let sit the prime one day, base coat one day, clear coat one day and then decal. By the way, I'm redoing the camo on my Panther, just did the base coat tonight. If you where going to add two more colors on top of the base coat would you dullcote first Ethan? Here is a pic of what I'm going for.

RE: Sherman from Mato or Tamiya??
I'd have to ask you first what do you intent to do with the Sherman? Are you just going to run it around your backyard or do you want to have battles (IR battle systems) with others in a club? If your going to run it around your backyard then get the Mato Sherman, but if your going to have IR battles then I'd recommend a Tamiya Sherman. the reason has already been stated by googlydoogly, "The Tamiya Sherman has a far superior electronics speaker, etc, and the gears are very tough. The Tamiya Sherman has a working HVSS suspension, with metal and plastic parts." Just remember that when all the Mato Sherman upgrades come out you'll probably (my opinion) spend the same amount as a Tamiya Sherman (without radio). And the Tamiya Sherman is tough, just ask edoubleaz here on the forum, he owns like 6 of them and lends them out to newbies at our battles. [:D]

It hasn't been released yet, I'm ordering one to. Mine is going to be with the Asiatam lower hull, 3:1 low profile gearboxes and Tamiya Pz IV electronics with battle system. Welsh Dragon will have it when it's released: http://www.welshdragonmodels.co.uk/ The cost looks like 125 Euro (Approx $185) http://rctankhq.com/panzerforum/index.php?topic=1127.0

Since your getting an Asiatam lower hull you can do a 3000, 3300, 3600, 4600 or even a 5200 NiMH battery.

RE: I made a list...can you check it twice?
Yes I also love the Tamiya Tiger I. I have two of them, and I have a Tamiya Jagdpanther and Panther. The Panther is getting rebuild now (didn't like the camo). DH I am also doing what your doing, ordered a Asiatam PIII lower hull from Rc command, waiting for the Stug III F conversion kit to come out and it's going to have the Tamiya Pz IV electronics and battle system. Haven't decided on the camo I'm going to do on it yet.

RE: Nov DAK Battle 2009
That would be great if you could bring your spare weights Jeff, thanks! Hey Ethan Can I ask a big favor, could you mod my Dx5e for me please? I'll bring it to our Nov battle, I just don't trust myself on the first attempt (also I control the turret on the left side). I was talking to Dave in emails about getting one more tank...was going to be a Tamiya Panzer IV (another medium on the German side) but then I thought I really don't like the German 1930's suspension on the Panzer IV and the thin tracks. So like Ethan (he loves Shermans) I thought I'll go with what I like...another Tiger I (still might change my mind). Right now it's just the planning stage (saving the money), but I'd like it to look exactly like this Tiger I:

RE: Nov DAK Battle 2009
ORIGINAL: Jeff489 We're ready to go.  Tamiya Panther is repaired and all other tanks ready to go.  Weird problem with the Panther was that it kept stripping gears in the elevation unit.  After 3 replacements of the elevation unit, I decided to investigate thoroughly, and found the problem to be too much weight on the front end of the barrel.  You see, this tank has the Impact metal muzzle brake and the Impact metal mantlet.  Both are nice and super detailed, but heavy.  The stock Tamiya kit used plastic pieces for these parts.  Turns out, the upgrade parts made the barrel way too heavy and driving around simply beat the elevation unit to death and stripped the gears.  Thus I have discovered that Tamiya elevation units do not work well with loads.  The elevation unit moves the barrel only, and is not a means for securing it. To repair, I went in and added some sticky lead weights to the back of the recoil unit.  About 4 ounces.  Now that it has been static balanced, it works perfect dnd gives me mucho elevation (as much as the real panther had).  Looking forward to running it in Nov. All other tanks working normally, with no breakdowns.
Jeff I was wondering if you retained the spring that fastens from the roof to the recoil unit/elevation? I haven't burned up my elevation unit yet, but I do have the Impact Mantlet and metal barrel (Tamiya)...so it does have some weight to it. Do you think with your mod now you can shoot tanks from the bottom of SCAT's battlefield to the top now? Thanks, Duane And I'll be there at the next battle!
