RE: Building a Skeeter, 12 - 14 oz balsa profile, need set up advise
I don't spend a lot of time here, so sorry I have not seen this post until now. I'm the designer of the Skeeter, and most of those are my pics, that OK. Usa as many as you want. The was designed around the Himax 2015-4100 in a 6.6:1 gearbox. I fly mine with that and a GWS 4 channel RX and 4 Pico servos and a TP 1320 prolite pack for outdoors. Indoors we are using a 900mah pack. The plane is very good with an AXI 2208-34. If I were to start from scratch, I'd do the AXI, 900mah packs and 4 GWS pico servos. keep it around 10-11oz. I stopped selling laser cut kits due to time. It's hard to do that out of the garage. The plans are still on the internet for free for a stick-built version, and your can get laser cut kits or ARF versions from billyhellrc.com. Keep building and posting! Q
ORIGINAL: prophanger1 Google mojo arf price. Never heard of bed rock TN? I plan on getting one, maybe they did use to much heat? It was awful to get that stuff off. If he said the covering was good, I'd say it was good. No reason to go all they way to get a USA made arf, and mess it up by using bad covering. I'll PM you my address, as long as you don't come over with your mojo on. [:D]
I tried Googling that and got no price?!?!? Still wondering how you found that price out. Q

RE: ACCELL PITTS
I'm flying mine on a Himax 2015-4100 in a 6:1 gearbox with a 1600mah pack. I've seen them fly on everything from 850mah to 2000mah packs. It has enough wing that it can handle the extra weight of the 2000mah packs. Some other possibilities are : axi 2808-24 hacker A30-28s hacker A30-16M (will need 2000mah packs) hacker A20-22L for smaller packs. Light weight setup. Q

RE: Katana V2 70 - 2 Piece Wing
I'm still around here, too, just not as much. As for my relationship with Accel, I'm just a designer and they bought some of my designs...nothing more. OK, for my take on the Kat 70, V1 and making it stronger. 1: if you have a truck or SUV and can handle the wingspan, epoxy the wing on and make is a single pice plane. A lot of guys have done this. Is it needed? Not really, but it does add strength. 2: get some CF tape and some 1/8th thick hardwood or ply. Strip the covering off the bottom of the fuse and sandwich the tape between the fuse bottom and the new wood strip. Wick in thin CA. Do this from the tail to the wing cutout. If you glued in the wing, then do it to the nose. If you can't get CF tape, then the extra hardwood alone is going to add a bunch of strength. Now, all this being said, I still have my Kat 70, which was prototype #1 of version 1. I was lucky enough to get to test one of the original 2 prototypes. I've dorked it a few times and it is holding up. Q

I will agree with AFSalmon on this, though. You can't go wrong with Tetherite gear. I like to run Tetherite on everything. Q

Well, he's not getting any of the planes. Already said no. As for the rest of you, it's kinda like a family with the trusted testers. No one really gets in until one drops out. Now, TailTwister is getting up in age, and sometimes crosses streets in bad places and can't hear real well, if you know what I mean [>:] [:D]

RE: Accel Kat 40 - Beware!!
Well, now I am at a loss. While originally, maybe you should have been given a 100% refund, since you say you only cut into the servo cutouts, but that part is over. I will still try to get you that refund. You have a concern about quality of build. Fine, we all do, so I offered to send you another Kat 70 for free for you to dissect and post pictures here on RCU. You refused. I offered to let you have some prototypes and early runs of new planes ( free of charge ) that Accel is comming out with that I designed for your feedback, because if you are this upset, I want to know what is wrong. You refused this, too. At this point, if all you want to do is call Accel bad names, by all means, have fun. I was hoping to understand what you think is bad and what you think is good. Maybe others out in the R/C world have the same points of view about construction, and Accel designers would have learned about that. I can tell you, that the planes are not built with hot glue, though [8|]

RE: Accel Kat 40 - Beware!!
Next time send me a PM or email and I'll make sure you get treated better. Alex and I have been working on the proper way to handle issues when they come up. We will tear into a kit and ship out a wing if that is what you need. I don't know your story 100%, so I can not comment on why Alex said only $50. I personnally have seen to it that individual wings were sent out that were smashed due to UPS, and a replacement fuse was sent out for the Pitts because the guy didn't think it was good enough. Between the original Katana 40 "P" and the current Katana 40 "GS", nearly 1,000 planes have been built with nearly 800 of those sold. I'm sorry you're so upset mstcitabria. Q

Exactly guys. I designed the Pitts. It is NOT a precision 3D machine. It is a tumbler. The Kat 40 is more of a precision machine. Depends on what you like.

RE: Kat 40 Dude!!
Nice pics guys. Only flying pics I have of me are these low res captures from my video camera. I've got an SK 50 from Kangke on mine. I really like the extra punch it gives, but my MECOA 46 did well before the bearings went out. My OS 46FX did very well on it too. Here is a short video clip. You'll have to fix the URL. Copy and past it to your browser and take out the spaces.

RE: Enjoying my OMP arf Katana
The instruction isn't clear on how to align the wing fillet. I basically put it in line with the stab. I hope that's correct. Also, I hope the fillet will serve to increase the fuselage's lateral rigidity. My last 2 profiles (Goldberg Extreme 330 & 540) both broke at the fuselage just aft of the TE.
It should be in-line with the stab. If you measure up from the bottom of the fuse to the bottom of the trailing edge of the wing and get that measurement, hold the fairing and measure up that same distance and mark the fuse at the trailing edge of the fairing. This will make them perfectly flat and in-line with the airfoil and stab. You don't want them pointing up or down, or they will act like flaps or ailerons and mess up the trim of the plane.

I'm running mine with a MECOA 46 spinning an APC 11.5x4 prop. Plenty of power. A .50 would be sweet, spinning a 12x4, but the 46 is plenty of power to 3D.
OK, this is my first profile. My issue is that I getting foaming of the fuel in the tank at full throttle. Is this normal on a profile? The tank is zip tied with foam padding to the side of the fuselage. I'm running a Saito .72. Should I run a longer coiled fuel line from the exhaust to the tank vent. Los
Yes, that can happen. How much foam rubber did you put between the tank anf the fuse? I use about 1-1 1/2 inches. Don't pull the tank in tight or you defeat the foam. Just pull the tank tight enough to keep it set in place.

Here's a pic I took of the assembly from when I wrote the new manual (Not the one in the verion you have). I cut a slit just aft the spar and slid in the wire, then secured the wire with clear (packing) tape. If you don't want that much wire showing, then cut the hole before the spar, then throught he shear web and feed it in.
With the lighter batteries and the lighter Razor, it would probably fly on the Razor if you can come in at 22~23 oz. But even a 3S2P Etec pack is only gonna be good for about 18A, that's probably what the Razor will draw.
Translation: Quit being a tight A$$ and buy the Lehner. In the long run you will be happier, and save money because you will sell the Razor and get the Lehner eventually, anyway because you won't be happy with the Razor. RE: Electric Tacos
I'm starting to put together my shopping list for this winter project. I decided I need to have an E-Taco Looks like I need to buy the following: Lehner 1020/15 Phoenix 35 Cobri aluminum gearbox 12 tooth SS pinion, 70 tooth spur Tanic pack: [link=http://www.tanicpacks.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26_25&products_id=98]http://www.tanicpacks.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26_25&products_id=98[/link] In an attempt to save a bit of money, would I be able to use these: Motor: Razor 2500 LiPo packs: I already have 4 3cell Etec 1200mah packs. Can I just use 2 of them and make a 3S2P pack? I figure the AUW would be around 160 grams. The Tanic pack is 176 grams. If the LiPos would work, I could probably swing the Lehner motor.
