RE: Tmaxx Engine Issue
It's running too hot, air leaks, or worn p/s. Check the glow plug to see how it's tuned if you can't get it figured out. Good luck.

RE: OFNA Picco Revo Mount
This thing is a beast. After all this time I got it to run but not for long. After a couple of passes the traxxas clutch keeps crapping out. First clutch blew up along with the CB bearings. I haven't opened it up again but it tries to roll forward while starting so... Any solutions short of buying a hardened CB and 3 piece clutch?

Are you asking what company to buy from or what weight? It depends on what surface you will run it on and how you want the truck to handle..
ORIGINAL: devious1 get a chance to run it again?
I made a longer exhaust pipe hanger and lowered the idle but I didn't heat up the motor when I went out so I couldn't get it started. Going to have to try again in the next few days.
ORIGINAL: richardtf Nice rig man..[:D] i see you have an opti drive, does it work? do you have reverse?
The opti-drive works. I've never had a problem with it so far. The reverse works also and other than a servo, I think it was my fault, I never had any problems with that either. I've never raced yet so reverse is extremely useful. I think I'm going to need a roll cage.

RE: revo 3.3 fluid leak
I don't remember if any grease goes into the ez-start gears, you can check the traxxas support page, but the OWB (one way bearing) inside the ez-start is lubed by the engine fuel. Screws vibrate loose over time. Maybe this is a sign that it would be a good time to clean it off, check screws, etc.

RE: OFNA Picco Revo Mount
Only ran it for 3 minutes but it's easier to start and run than the 2.5R and I can tell it has power. :D Once it got warmed up I had to keep full brakes on because it was trying to drive off. The idle gap looks too large so I'll try decreasing it.

RE: OFNA Picco Revo Mount
ORIGINAL: Mclovin350z Not bad, that carb is really close though, I'd work on a solution for that or else your engine will eat dirt for a living. Maybe a 36 or 34t spur and some spacers under the engine?
Sounds like a good idea but for now it's on there. Just haven't messed around much with the revo in a while so it took a little refresher to get back to wrenching on these things. The mount has a fair amount of adjustment. The engine is in but it looks like the air filter neck won't fit? RE: .15, 2.5, 2.5r, or 3.3?????????????
The 2.5 has touchy needles. I haven't run the pro .15 but I would expect it to be easier to tune. Reliability has to do a lot with tuning on these engines.

RE: OFNA Picco Revo Mount
I hear ya. I managed to do this while going to school with no job. It's been crazy but it gave me time to learn what I'm doing. Your plan with the car is great. I was actually looking at getting a Z once I'm done with school. I would love individual throttle bodies and long tube headers with a tune. My maxima is great for having fun though, maintaining that new of a car is too much for me right now. This way it's a sleeper for the insurance, cops, and everyone else. I was also throwing around the idea of swapping in a VQ35 w/vq30 timing and the supercharger into the max but once I have an actual income I might upgrade to a more serious RWD or AWD platform. Lot's of cars to choose from Z, I6 M3, R32, etc.

RE: OFNA Picco Revo Mount
Thanks, I didn't want to mess anything up. I'll give it a try when I get home from ny weds. BTW from what I've seen the vq30 stock holds up better to boost compared to the vq35de stock. But once you put rods, don't remember if you need more than that, into the vq35de you'll be golden. On these high compression engines tuning is very important so I'm spending about $1g on engine management. One of the closest to standalone's, E-manage ultimate lets you have control over the injectors, ignition timing, 2-step, raised rev. limit, etc. plus it does everything a standard piggyback does such as the apexi afc's, also you can connect a wideband 02 sensor and tune the engine, to prevent disasters a j&s safeguard monitors knock and lowers it on each cyl. individually by itself. Both the e-manage ultimate and j&s cost $550 ($3-400 used) each plus about $80 for a new WB02 sensor. Good thing about these is that you never have to get rid of them so if you move on to other cars you have the equipment already.
ORIGINAL: Mclovin350z Sounds nice! Are you sure about the stock internals holding up to 500 hp? I'm sure you would know better than me, but even at the crank my vq35 would be toast with stock rods and pistons, it has 10.3:1 compression, maybe yours is lower than that. I can safely get about 360-370 at the wheels with an sts rear mount system, if I quit spending on rc stuff.....xd. The funny thing is it would make that much torque too! That's alot of scoot for a 350z, it already runs a 14.1 @ 102.....stock. Oh yeah, the .26 will work fine lol. Don't forget about loosening the cradle pieces and then tightening them to the mount first.
RE: OFNA Picco Revo Mount
I know the new era mount is golden but I'd like to make this work first. I have a 17T CB and 38T spur gear, will I be able to make this combo work with out modifying the mount?
ORIGINAL: Mclovin350z You have to loosen the cradle to keep it from being such a pain to install the mount. Before that you should drill out the big hole (on the mount) for more adjustment.....Or get a new era mount. You want the cradle to be loose so you can sqeeze the three pieces together with the 2 long through bolts. Then tighten the cradle back down to the chassis. Mount your engine and set the gear mesh by loosening the outside through bolt.
BTW I have a vq30 w/ V1 SC [:D]

OFNA Picco Revo Mount
I'm trying to install a JL_R.26 using the ofna picco revo mount and I'm having an issue. I removed my 2.5R and mount but left the "cradle" in the chassis. I put the ofna mount in and knocked it into place using some wood. It was a little tight. The problem that I'm having is that when I try putting the engine into the mount it feels like it's hanging up. I think on the "cradle". I wanted to ask you picco .26 veterans what I'm doing wrong?
