Mike the plans are re drawn as they are not around any more. They (Action lazer works) obtained a set and did the work from them and they supplied the plans because of the problems getting a set. They have been great to deal with. Yours _Paul T

RE: 58 Inch F8E Crusader buildig Log
Michaelj2k,optech Thanks for your imput If you click on the link below you will see the information I started with on that thread I found the information required to be able to get Eddie at Lazer Works to do what is required to produce the short Kit. There was a mix up with the first order and I ended up with a low winged Crusader that some one way back had designed. So I emailed Eddie who bent over backwards to draw up this kit.I hope that other will be inspired to maybe also build this aircraft. The original article was in FM 6/70 . I did fall in love with a model I saw back in the 60s that a club member made as a control line model (stunt) Now having said all that I think in the morning I will take some photos of the Short Kit and then start the gluing .I will need to go to the LHS 60 K/M away to get some spars and other wood in the very near future as this will slow the progress. I'm yet to look at whats in stock but I know that I'm low on some of the square stock. All for now photos in the evening Aust Time Yours Paul T still excited on this build. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1558437/anchors_1560327/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#1560327

58 Inch F8E Crusader buildig Log
My Lazer cut kit arrived today,The plans of the Flying Models publication have been re drawn by Laser works and cut as a short Kit. Hobbies/Lazer Works actionhobbieswftx@yahoo.com Now I hope to build over the next few Months and keep good report on the progress with lots of photos. I live in Australia and fly with a very small club just North on Melbourne I have a big intrest in twins and Jets driven with up front prop motors and this model has some of the best lines that I'v seen. It's taken me around 8 months to finaly get some one to cut the required kit. The workmanship on the cut looks to be very professional with excellent wood. I will clear some space and make a start on the aircraft on Saturday if all goes to plan.

RE: A6 Texan as a twin
I'm broke at the moment and that has slowed the progress, A6Texan. Not that there twins but I had a Great planes Tomcat arrive this week and I ordered a Crusader prop jet Laser kit from the states, well I payed for and its on its way as we speak. I do love Forward driven prop Jets, there are 7 in the shed in various stages of build. As for the A66 Texan (do you like that) Fuel tank on one needs to be installed, Cowl is on but needs one hole for the needle valve extension, Battery holder for one Throttle linkage ,one switch and glow plug extension Now that is not a long list. The major stopper is that the bloke that does the paper work in our club is of to the USA next week The 25 of August so it will be on hold till then. It will pass OK as he has seen the build ,every step of the way but it stll needs to be legal. Now there is no need to be Anxious and thanks for your support as when you do somthing that is different that looks like scale and is not you can get some different types of comments in this hobby.[&o] Yours Paul T

RE: A6 Texan as a twin
John the section you need to read is 5.1.1 of the link below. but in short if you model has a weight of over 7KG (around 15 LBS) you need to have the model inspected by an approved inspector(most clubs have one or more) The checks are to make sure everything is in order, Servos are the correct size for the loads(well they record the type and model servo.I think if you had say hite 50 on the alerons of a model this size it would fail (and it should) I have used Hitec 645 MG eveywhere on my project with 422 on the throttles. I know they will check all the control surfaces and the ticket is only good for 2 years when you need to have it inspected again. Also needs inspection if there is a rebuild. http://www.maaa.asn.au/maaa/mop/procedures/MOP015%20-%20%20Heavy%20Model%20Aircraft%20Inspection%20and%20Oper.pdf I think I have this all right Yours Paul T

RE: Looking for my 1st build.
Well bill I bet you never thought that some one in Australia would pop in to help. I looked up the details of the club that are near you..... Huntington County Modelers Bill Lowen havefun@huntington-county-modelers.com Ray Dosh huntingtoncm@mac.com Huntington IN 46750 As you can see there are some names that you can email and get your self out to there flying field, then all the advice you get will make sence. If you find them not to your liking then there are more near by. Think this is the best move as you are so far away with what you need to do. All the people that respond to your thread will not want you to slip through the cracks. Its a great Hobby made up of many faboulous people 99.9% want to help. You will need to meet people with the same intrest, and it a great way to spend some sundays. Lets know how you go and if they are a great bunch of bloks. (they will be) yours Paul T

Progres At this point ,I have completed the 3 inch wing joiner and it has made her rock solid. The joins are very positive with no movement. I've made patterns for the tail .I will continue in the morning and will take some photos to help explain the steps that I'm taking to join the tail plains. This particular ARF looked great as a single ,I may take it to the club and stand back and take note of all the smart comments this week end. Yours Paul t

I have the Hitec gear and I have flown at heights of above 1000 meter that is quiet a range check and as I'm in Australia I think we run lower transmitter power to the states. May be some one can give us the distance the JR gear will go My 2 cents worth Yours Paul T

Well thanks for your imput, there is no touching anywhere on mine. I am installing them on a A6 Texan Seagull (twin) and as you can see in the photo I do have 4 retracts so the aircrafts can be still flown as singles.Youi get these ideas as you get older. I intend to take off with 2 wheels and for safety reasons land on 4 if things look bad and who's looking. the major hold up now is one of the inner wheeis. I will be talking with the LHS Tuesday. FallDownGoBoom (Just love that call sign) I am sure that the transmitter was set up correctly as I'm yet to do the transmitter to air craft programing I used one of the set ups for the same retract set that was alreadt in the transmitter . I did only connect one side at a time one was perfect the new one had the run stop run stop all the way till the wheel was lifted and is not activating the overload. It also did it in both directions. I will feel terable when I ring this one through on tuesday.Yours Paul T

Elec retracts
Well the heading fails to list this item but I thik its a good place to pop in a problem to see if I can get some help. E flite retracts. I have a set in my latest project and thing are a little different. The first problem was that the shaft came off the motor on the second run. This was replaced with in 3 days great service here in Australia. Now the second one stops and starts right from go. I'm yet to contact the LHS and there closed Mondays. My question is how good are these things and has ther been many problems in the past The unit is a 60 120 90 deg unit. Yours Paul T

RE: A6 Texan as a twin
To day I worked on the wing spacer and its ready to be covered, that will happen in the morning if all goes to plan. I have also decided to put two wires through the metal dowls holes to hold the three wing sections togher. I'm sure that I can get small nuts to bolt it all in place. The outer wings will be connectede the same as the original single engine model. With all bolted togher I will be able to build the wrap around tail plain. Realy the amount of work required to make it a twin is quite small.

RE: A6 Texan as a twin
Well the progress that I've made is small but a fair bit has been achieved. I now have both sets of elec Eflite retracts fitted with 4 (two sets)of Robart wheels. This is one part of the project that is great two wheels for take off and if things are'nt too good on landing I can have 4 (what a system) I keep finding transfers that need to be put in place, you know the dam small ones . If any body wants the heads up on the fitting of the retracts I put a small piece of ply under the pads so very little was removed from the attachment rib. No point of a photo till I finish the joiner with the ribs. I will have a crack at that Tuesday Yours Paul T

Hi lifer & A6TEXAN thanks for looking in on this project,I'm about to fit the exhaust to the second airframe as its at the post office. I will get all the prices and work out the total cost of the project so far,I'm pleased to say that we are close to the end of that side of the project. I think I only need to find some bolts. List of jobs 1. Build the wing spacer 2 Build the tail joiner. Fit out one fuel tank and install 3. Finish the removal of Air retract system from one airframe 4. Exhaust on one airframe. 5.Throttle set ups 6 . Battery box and reciever. 7. Cowl fitting one airframe 8 Second wing spar 9 Test fly. O yes the wing span will be in the reagion of 2.7 meters

RE: A6 Texan as a twin
Thanks for the comment irocbsa. I intend on finishing this project but it may not be tested flown till November.I'm yet to fly the last twin project. This is a little more expencive that most Twins EG there are 6 servos on the tail. Well today I did the interiors and went to town to pick up the 2 sets of retracts. Thats the budget blown for this week and next. Now in the morning I will need to put it all togher to get the shape of the tail so I will then take a new Photo and I will put the wings togher so you can see what it will look like when finished. That dam French Tour, I'l get more work out of my shed when its over.

RE: A6 Texan as a twin
The progress on the project. I have ordered two sets of 90 120 90 deg eflite retracts (one set for each airframe) The thinking at this point is that if I want to keep each aircraft flying by its self this will be the way to go.with elect retracts it will be so simple to isolate the two inner wheels. I'm yet to remove the Robart system fitted to the flying side of the project. All servos are fitted and connected to rudders elevators etc, I have used Hitec 645MG on evevything except the throttle where Hitec 422HB are in place. I have cut the new ribs for the centre wing spacer, there is no point of a photo till this part of the build is completed as then it will be clearer for all to see how I intend to join this twin. I will also add a second alunimium tube for strength through the wing(more on this later). In all ,all is going very smoothly with the French Tour the major distraction and the cool evenings in the shed. All for now yours Paul T PS engine fitting in the morning (Its great to have one to copy)
