RE: ARF's are Kits?
Kits are a pile of wood that looks way too big with a roll of inked paper. When I was a kid if you didn't build it, you couldn't have one, still my prefered way to obtain one by the way. R.C.

RE: Comet Piper Cherokee 235, 31
I wanted to send my Dad a Kit for Fathers day and a 30" Piper Cherokee was his choice. The Comet was the only one in his choice of wingspan. I bought two Comet Cherokees, one incomplete kit from the *Bay and the second from a antique shop in Washington State. I made one good complete kit..., the Monday after Fathers day. The kit remnants I still have are the vaccum formed plastic and plans

RE: Hoarding !!
Hi, My name is Robert and my wife believes I am a horder too. That Hording program on T.V. sure doesn't help my case with my wife, but I know you guy's understand. I have 10 ARFS, 64 KITS and 220 PLANS. This is not hording, I am collecting for the future, 10 years from now there won't be any kits left, unless you wan't to spend big bucks! When the kids figure out building is highly under rated they may not be able to get a reasonable priced kit, scratch building will have to be their norm. R.C.

I have used Eddie Taylor at Action Hobbies/Lazer Works [link]http://actionhobbieswftx@yahoo.com[/link] too, I highly recommend him. Excellent work, outstanding packaging, great customer service, a good communicator and he shipped fast too! I may sound bias, but he treated me so good that he deserves the praise. R.C.

RE: Your First 1/2A Experience?
It was 1965, I bought a Cox PT19 with the money I earned mowing yards, working on crop and dairy farms, I was in the 6th grade. Surprisingly enough the Cox PT19 was heavy and slow enough that I lost many fuel soaked rubber bands but broke very few parts, wing overs were the extent of my flying skills with that PT19. Once I started building with balsa my skills improved and I moved on to ukie combat, the Combat Kittens, I loved that double kit. I was interduced to free flight when I was in high school (1968-1972) by Kelly Thomas (who flew in the LA area in the early 60's I believe in the free flight glory days) he had many model airplane magazines that he and his buddies were captured in thru photo's and print. I built and still have many 1/2A ukies today that I built when the kids (all grown up now) were small. I have collected (kept/horded) every 1/8th, 1/4 and 1/2A engine since I got hooked on that wonderful castor oil scent back then. I sure wish Kelly was alive today so that I could properly show my appreciation to him for his guidance and encouragement. What a trip down memory lane this topic has brought up. Thanks guy's R.C.

RE: 20 years in storage - Flyable or not?
I just cut up (last two nights) a gas powered Nosen 1/4 scale Citabra because I built it over 20 years ago and I am worried about the condition of the CA joints and the wood. I will make copies of the machined pieces and build another, I don't think it is worth the gamble, 20 + years old, + 15 pounds + 40 MPH= more risk than I will take. Robert
