RE: us41 in byron p51
OK,I gotcha on that. I'd put my money in electronic ignition then. The 24V starters and batteries are heavy and besides the fuels cost savings the other big benifit IMHO of gas over glow is flip and fly with no support equipment to lug around. With no choke use syringe or bulb and squirt gas in carb, flip and fly with EI.

RE: Importing and exporting RC gas engines products
[quote]ORIGINAL: BadAzzMaxx A couple years back when the China made engine were having a big problem with needle bearings failing I had asked one manufacture why they did not just use good bearing like IKO from Germany. I was told that they could not use products to manufacture there engines that were not made in China. I think I found out yesterday that that is not completely true. Shipped some gas engine parts to China yesterday and was told by a DHL agent that if the products I was shipping to China was not made in China the receiver had to pay a 200% import tax on the products. So now we know why they do not use products in there engines not made in China. What a great trade agreement our leader have made with our import and export regulations. ???? Now we know why we have such a high unemployment rate in the US and so many manufactures are taking there manufacturing plants out of the US. RE: Pulse 125 - first flights
Reversing gear only works on 60 size pulse. On the 125xt lots guys shim back of gear, either 1/16 or 1/8 inch and solved prob for most part. I'd use plastic or lite ply plate not very wide but full lenght of gear mount.Paint if you want to. Until very used to taildraggers and this plane in particular: LANDING: roll out to stop, put ele on high rates, taxi in slowly TAKE OFF: low rate, full up...second tail starts to lift let up on ele about 1/2,if you let up 100% nose over. timing timing timing= practice practice practice Google for thread here on this plane lot of reading BUT tons of good info

RE: wiring help please!!
Go to Maxxproducts.com and look for MPI arming switch. You can leave batts plugged in all day till you get to flight line, just plug in arming plug, plane ready to fly. I use it as safety feature on all my planes. I'm never standing in front of an armed plane or spinning prop. On large planes, if you choose to use a rx battery, hook it to regular switch and charge plug just like glow or gas. Get ready to fly, turn on switch and servos work, check surface movements, plug in arming switch and ESC,motor arms. I use regular size wire up to 8S, I use their larger size wire one for 10 and 12S. $10 and $12 each.

My 10S set ups are 5000 Mah and I set timer on my DX8 for 10 minutes. Still battery left,I can do 12 minutes of strong flying but 10 minute flights work fine for my attention span and plantar fascitis in one foot. What size wet fuel motor was used on the pattern plane you have?

RE: Newbie to Electric Conversions - TACON 160 Monster Motor question
I'm running Tacon 160 on 10S with APCe 20x8 on 30cc Yak. Tons of power. Runnng another one on GP P6e Hawk on 10S with 18x12. If your plane is 11lbs. with battery, the 18x10 or 12 should work good. You might get away with 17x12 but Ihaven't used that small a prop. At 11 lbs. target weight,I'd say ideally the Tacon or Eflight 110 on 8S with 18x10 would save a lot of weight, have plenty of power for pattern and longerflight times.

RE: Lipo and ESC for Tacon Motor
Sorry, haven't run 3 blade on any of my electrics. I'm sure a 17x10 3 blade would be fine on 8S if thats large enough for your project. This motor does not perform well on 6S,I don't care what charts say. Even if you just want scale aerobatics( large loops, enough vertical for stall turns, etc) use 8S.

RE: Eflite 110 info
This ESC lists Battery:6S in specs given. It's not usable for 8S which 8 or 9S is what the Power110 is rated for. I have several of these motors and 8S, 17x10 or 12 or even better 18x10 or 12 is ideal power from it. Get ESC rated for 10-12S. I have not seen a 110 provide decent power on 6S.

I have 5345 but have not used it yet. Rumor on the forums is it's weak link is not having the very large rear bearing other brands in this size have. Axi now has the 5345 in a HD version. I'd go for the rear mount to strengthen and stiffen rear of motor if it was me.

Have 3 of these motors on 3 different style airplanes. They love 8S with 18x10 or 18x12 APCe or Xoar electric. Get Exceed,Tunigy or any esc made by HobbyWing,100ampHV(most heli shops have the true HobbyWing esc's). Bullet proof set up.
