RE: Area 51 engines
OK Here is a update, Was told this morning that parts were shipped to me and should have them on Monday, Keven, If so your engine should ship out on Tuesday. Mike Stellern Your engine has been here for a couple weeks, Was needing ignitions, I just went ahead and bought some ignitions from another dealer and should arrive to me tomorrow, If so yours will ship out on Saturday. I have a couple people waiting on muffler, I ordered some from the manufacture of the muffler and got notice today that they would be shipped tomorrow and should have the on Monday or Tuesday. On another note, I will be deactivating my account here, Not for the issues that have come up on this post but just tired of being told by one moderator to do things one way and then being told by another to do it another way, just to confusing to me. I have got my Email back up and working, so that will be the best way to contact me. Thanks Milton tthomp1334@yahoo.com Thanks

Kevin (JC Engines) This really gets me to ask customers to let you know what they need to fix there engine and you will send it to them. If you would send me the parts I would fix them. I have been waiting for six weeks for rear cases that you have said you would ship to me every time we talked and now you post what you do and make me look like the bad guy here. Bob And Bill thanks for your support but KevenLS has all the right in the world to be upset, I have been telling him for weeks I was going to ship him his engine back thinking everyday I was going to receive the parts to do it with. But to no avail I still have not received them. I don't know what was posted in the post that was deleted so I can not comment on them. KevenLS I have two planes here with a 51 on them, I will pull them off tomorrow and get the parts for your engine and get it out to you by Wednesday along with the 102, Was just waiting on shipping the 102 so I could do it at the same time. Will post more about this later but first have to cool down myself. Thanks Milton
ORIGINAL: Tankd Does anyone have a stock muffler for the Area51 that they can part with? Seems mine developed a crack around the stack and decided to take flight and depart on its own. Why question them, They have been doing ignitions for longer than we have been using gas engines for model planes, It works set at 28 deg. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8868990/tm.htm Milton

RE: Finding TDC and Timing Ignition Vedio
ORIGINAL: Albatross Milton For those like me that never have used the "piston stop". Could you show us a detail of this device? I guess is a homemade device, is that right? A sort of spark plug with an electrode removed? Thanks
Yes I use a CM6 plug with a 1/4-20 bolt throught it for 10 mm plugs and a adapter from CM6 to standard plug for standard plug threads, any thing wil work, Just get a bolt that fits the plug threads and put a nut on it and lock the nut in place with some thin CA. Some people use a wood dowel glued into a spark plug after the electrodes have been removed and drill a hole in the cenetr of the dowel so not to have any compression while rotating the crank Milton

Finding top dead center and timing engines Video
Posted this in another thread here in the engine conversions but have had a few emails saying I should start a new thread so more people would see it. Just a small video showing how I find top dead center and time engines for 28 deg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SydZVV5bCQM The top dead center methord will work with most engines but not all igntions are made to be sat at 28 deg before top dead center such as DA, 3W ZDZ and a few others, They are made to be set form 3-5 mm before top dead center. RE: Finding TDC and Timing Ignition Vedio
Sorry about the hesitation, I corrected it and reloaded the video and got the file size down from 118 MB to about 30 MB so it will be easier to download. If you booked marked the old link in the first post I am going to delete that one from youtube, So book mark the new link in the first post for future reference. Milton

Finding TDC and Timing Ignition Vedio
Here is a short vedio of how I find Top Dead Center and time a ignition at 28deg I was a little stupid at one point and plugged the battery up wrong http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SydZVV5bCQM&feature=channel_page Please take note The way the video show for finding top dead center will work on most engines but the timing could be different for different ignitions. The 28 deg timing methord will not work for DA, 3W, ZDZ and some of the others that the timing is set for around 3-5 mm before top dead center. Milton

I have been converting and selling gas engines for close to eight years and the method I posted is about as accurate as you can get, If dead center of the lose play with the piston on top of compression stroke is not top dead center then what is it. Milton Words removed by moderator

RE: Turnigy 52cc and HP50cc engines
A 50cc is to heavy for a 25%, A lot of people do it but it still gives a high wing load. but here again not all 25% weigh the same, Give it a shot and see how it does. Milton

RE: Turnigy 52cc and HP50cc engines
A Quadra 35 will be plenty of power for the plane but when you come down on the throttle the plane is going to drop like a rock with the high wing load you will have with the weight of the engine, Probably will have to add a lot of tail weight also. Milton

RE: NEW SYSSA 30CC GASSER MADE IN THE USA
Ralph Cunningham looked a the engine at Joe Nall and said it looked very nice, From what he said they are machined in the US and assembled also, But I am sure the will have some foreign parts in it, But the machening and quality control will be in the US and that is a big plus. I think he said they were not going to be on there site untill all testing was complete. Milton

RE: xyz cdi
I let the compression of the engine find top dead center for me, Turn the piston all the way to the top, Install the wheel and rotate back and forth real lightly, you will see that most engine have about 10-12 deg of lose play, Center of that lose play is top dead center. Milton

RE: Area 51 engines
Good question, As of right now I have not been authorize by Kevin (owner of JC engines China) to do any repair work on engines not sold by me in the US. I do all warranty work on the engines I sell right now at no cost to the manufacture, They furnish the parts and I do the work, This is the deal we made that was to last for a short period of time until we both got a hold on the market with the engines. So as of right now it might be to good to be true. I don't think I could come out ahead repairing engines I did not sell, But at the same token I don't think I could leave somebody hanging dry. Could get a little sticky The manufacture is JC engines and we gave it the name Area 51. About 2 ½ years ago my Grandson made a post about a top secret engine coming while we were testing them and that is where the name Area 51 came from. Milton

RE: Area 51 engines
Jeff The Ultimate looks great, That is about the only Bi Plane that I really like and is a great aerobatic plane. The needle setting on the carbs are set by me when I test run them and is just set to make sure the engine runs good, Do not be afraid to lean it out, The only thing that will happen if you lean the low end to much is the engine will die when you throttle up, If it does them rich in it up untill you got good transition and you will also see the engine smooth out a lot better and have hardly no viberation. Bo Your engine is on it's way to you. The new 26 has grown to a 28CC and is still the same size as the first 26cc side inducted, Hope to have my proto type in a few day's to really dog out and see how it does. Good things come to those who are patient.[:D] Thanks Milton
