RE: Nose Weight location
Too many guys, sometimes put too much emphasis on matching exactly on the factory specs. That C/G is just a recomendation, a starting point. the only REAL way to tell.....is get is close, AND FLY IT!!! The airplane will tell you what it needs..by the way it flys!! Keep it simple............ Good luck, Rookie

Dial in some EXPO......negative EXPO if you use any Futaba system........ that should slow down the over control issue with the ailerons![:D]

RE: Check your control surfaces people!
Dude....I have to ask..........what does that mean "your hand accidently hit the switch, reversing the aileron servo's"???? I have been flying RC for 40 years, and in all that time, I have NEVER had ANY servo on ANY switch, that would reverse it in flight!! Now maybe you plugged the aileron servo's in, in the wrong spot on the receiver, I've done that........BUT A SWITCH

RE: MOTOR MOUNT REPAIR
i don't think Gorilla is the problem...........the plastic motor mount does NOT have enough material to grab.......so the screws keep coming out!!

Replace the plastic firewall with a piece of plywood.........you can then use servo screws to mount the motor, and it will stay in place, until you dork it!!![:D][:D][:D]

RE: HOW-To..3D maneuvers
ORIGINAL: mach2 hey guys, i know this is an old thread, but i had a question about flying 3D and most other threads are about planes and set up. Anyway, I am a new sport flyer and i dont know if i will ever get to the point of trying 3D. However, I do play a lot on the simulator. I can hover the Yak 3D with gyro on Realflight. I can hover it really well and do torque rolls n such. The Yak 3D without the gyro is obviously much harder to hover.  Do most 3D guys just use aft CG to be able to fly these types of maneuvers, or is a gyro something at is commonly used? And where can I read about a gyro to see how they work and how they are mounted in a plane? Just curious. Thanks, Jeremy
3D Guys DO NOT use a Gyro, and rarely is AFT C/G used. 3D is all about power, and power management.........Rudder and elevator control, and of course the proper airframe!! The only "tricky setups", if you can call it that, is application of "Expo" setting in your radio setup. Keep trying, and turn off those setting that make it easy....gyro and aft C/G, and fly it like you stole it!![>:]

RE: Wing Tube Straighten
I agree with Ken............replace it!! I own that same bird, and I know how fragile the wing placement is. Very little support, and only a couple line up pins and small tube to keep that wing on the fuse. REPLACE THE BENT TUBE!!![:D]
Mike; I can't answer that question, because I don't care where the needles sit! I only care about how that engine sounds, and how it reacts to my changes! Each engine is different.....each engine reacts differently to different fuels, altitudes where you fly, grade of castor in your fuel...dozens of different factors........therefor the needles cannot be exactly the same on each engine, and I think it's silly to keep a record of it, or to even worry about it!! Just set it, and go fly!!![:D]

RE: 25FX tuning problem?
I have guys at our field that are exactly like you......I spend 10 minutes setting their motors for them, correcting all kinds of problems, like too lean, too rich, or won't run a full tank. The next week, there they are, messing with the same engine that won't run. I ask them what they've done since I set it up for them? The answers always vary, but are usually the same..." Well the book says 1 1/2 turns out, and you set it at 2 turns out"...or..." I thought that maybe I should change the oil content, because..blah...blah....blah....... They can't resist tinkering with stuff........once it works, leave it alone!! In other words...if YOU make a correction, fix 1 thing to see if it solves the problem...and start with the simple stuff first, SETTINGS!!! Leave your tank where it belongs, don't go adding oil to your fuel.....it changes everything!!! Like we used to say in the Navy..........Turns the sweat pumps off, and Don't sweat the small stuff!![:D]

RE: 25FX need help
Mike; I tried to find the other post, but you didn't post a link.....so here's my quick $.02..... Based on the settings you declared, you are running that engine WAAAAAY too lean!! Start with the low end needle, turn it all the way in, and then back it out to 1 1/2. Do the same with the high end. Make your high end needle adjustments first...don't worry about how many turns the needles are sitting at, or whether you have had to turn it that far or not. What size prop are you trying run? Do you know what to listen for when you try to tune the low end?? If running at idle, and you slam the stick to full...you should get INSTANT response from the engine. If it quits running.....the low end is too lean, turn the needle OUT. If it bogs down, with a slow response to high RPM....the low end is too rich, turn the needle IN. It's really quite simple......[:D]
