RE: RC Surfer
It's Awsume to see inovation and dreams come to this sport but the bottom line is in the water, waves and time (like a couple years) that will prevail on your theory, not to discorage, but been there done that!( 10 + years and counting) It will be interesting to be at the Bro Down this week end. I'm so looking foreward to it! Looks like conditions maybe perfect!!! Later Dudes! BB

RE: RC Surfer
Surfing in offshore winds could be hazardist to the little dudes health, you'll have to be very confident it won't die in the line up or OUTSIDE! In my case, I got tangled up with a surfer and it rendered my little guy helpless, water was real cold, had my street clothes on, no board with me, lucky a surfer figuard it out after seeing me waving my arms, screaming and motioning my hand

RE: RC Surfer
The original Surfer dude had a very stiff deck, all others need to stiffen the deck by grafite rod, tape (lamenate type) or cloth. The doll needs the "O" ring system to keep brakage to a minimum. When the doll gets hit by a wave sideways, it's enough force to lift the deckrail and let water in, to check this simply hold the front of the board and push the doll over and watch

most of the rc surfer thing has been just that! Its only poeple that have totaly modified (take... Lisa I would of sold you for $350.00. Personally the only stock RC Surfer I would buy is the Kyosho Surfer Dude or Tubey ( whitch is made in Australia) for my money, yes they are still out.... I will continue my research. One question please? If someone offers me a Kyosho Lisa or Surfer NIB, how

RE: RC Surfer
That last reply was in referance to the difference between surfers. As far as loosing radio contact, in most cases as you gstart getting out of range the control becomes hesident on/off tendencys. If you're on the throttle and you go past the Tx range, its going to run untill it's out of battery unless it gets some radio interferance whitch may stop it from disapearing. Later BB

RE: RC Surfer
of rc surfing you go home and plug in the charger and you'll have fresh batterys every time with max range on the Tx. As for glueing the surfer to the board is a NO NO!!! It has to move other wise THE FORCE or water on the surfer will lift the deck and allow water to gush in and or break the surfer... years rc surfing experience, its the only way to go and in bigger surf this will take it's toll

RE: RC Surfer
View Revision (1) Well here's exactly my point of thinking outside the box, but you'll have to go a little farther. My boards (Dude and Lisa) run BONE DRY! At one point I had 10 battery packs and would run back to back batterys in the water 3+ hours No water so no spunge, sham wow, no tampon is needed. As far as my Kyosho Dude for sale I was selling it for $750.00 but due to the economy I'd sell it for $500.00 + shipping Later BB

would be keeping it real to start, ( as sujested above) RC surfing contests, Clubs, sanctions, business, after market business (RC Surfer, Rc Surfing, Bad Billys, Surf RC, Surfcurls, etc.) and Sport RC Surfing... Kyosho FAILED and it has those things. Now as and RC enthusiast and surfer, I can see the $1000... is the cos failure of RC surfing is not justified. It just simple failed do to the lack of intrest

RE: RC Surfer
IF YOU MAKE IT BULLET PROOF AND SELL IT FOR $350 RETAIL IT MIGHT GO. I disagree with john, there was a fare amount of profit in the RC Surfer and Lisa the fact is the product leaked and failed after the first run, thats NO FUN!!! so it got a bad start and a bad rep.!!! RE: RC Surfer
I really don't want to just spend $30 or $40 on another original Kyosho one as the same thing will probably happen. It snapped off at the stem that goes through into the board because it's plastic.  What rudder are you using RC Surfer. I know you've put the hours of research in so you'd have likely had similar issues with your brushless setups. Any help would be great

RE: RC Surfer
Yow Dude, I understand your bummed right now, but there's HOPE for you yet. I think you need to decide to do a make over and spend the money it will take to get you to the point of running battery after battery without breaking or replacing little stuff like seals and O-rings every 40 to 50 runs +. So hag in there, at least you have an oridginal Dude that can take it! So read all you can there's no secrete and save you're money You'll need both. Later Dude BB

TJ Yow man sounds right, Read up on charging, dead cells means over charge or charging to soon (battery is sill warm) after a run, and wuz-up with water in the board! A little water = NO run! BAD for everythig, everybody thats still runnimg, still is and has, run bone dry. [:)][:D] Yowza Check out my rudder kit and here's a pick of my rudder hatch after 75+ runs just a couple small drops, See if you can fid them! Later Dudes! [8D]

MOOK I'm a Hobbest and it's more time into it than money. But now I have a board that has very little maintanace and runs back to back batterys without breaking down. Surfcurls That is a 540 motor in the picture and they are hand made along with the Fiberglass handlay up black rudder and cooling fins. I have motor mounts for "Dude"and Lisa boards. RE: RC Surfer
I would like to point out that through the years brushed or brushless 40amp ESC will work if you supply it with ample cooling, so thats where the seperate cooling systems came to be, one for ESC and one for the motor. Now that was with 7.2 voltage but the ESC would still fail after 40 to 50 runs. With 11.1v you are using a little less amp draw so it might work, we'll see. Bottom line is using 60 anps+ the heat problems went away and the higher the amp rating (on the ESC) the motor and ESC ran cooler and gained run time. Later Dudes Couple pic's
