RE: Aeroworks 300LP - CG question
ORIGINAL: stepsez It has the stock Alum gear ,I thought something was goofy but I didnt want to take any chances........Thanks - Ill check out the file..
I built one up for a friend of mine and we went off the cg in the manual and it was neutral for the most part, maybe a little aft. I flew it three times and it flew great. I didn't think it was squirrely. Landings were a breeze and three pointer's. Look at the other threads and the pictures. It's actually a very easy plane to setup and you don't need all the fancy electronics either. Cory

RE: Just Wondering? New DLE-55 In the new 50cc Edge???
The DLE55 should be a great motor in the Edge. From I have seen, the 55 has seems to have more power than the DL50. I have a DL50 and it runs great. I just completed a Extra 300 LP for a friend with a DLE55 and it started on the 4 flip, amazing! My DL50 did not. Can't wait to see some pictures. Cory

The LP belongs to buddy of mine and he hasn't had time to come out and put it in the air some more. From what I did with it, it did KE nice, slight pull to the gear which can be mixed if desired. Not sure about Torque rolls. Sorry I cannot give anymore detail. It might be a few more weeks before he brings it back out to fly. Cory

RE: Aeroworks Extra 300LP build
Did the Maiden flight lastnight on the 8th. All went great. The DL55 started with no problems. Roll out was great and she lifted up really nice. I did 2 clicks of down and one right. Cg felt good and inverted only required a bit of up from the stick. My buddie and I may move battery pack off the rudder servo tray and mount it up on the ignition pack to move a little weight forward and see what it does. We only got two flights on her. It was pretty windy at the field so we waited a while on the second flight for the wind to calm down to see how she really felt. The LP seems to track very well and has a fast roll rate on high rates. I used 60% expo and brought that up to 70%. I didn't try too much with as it's a new motor and I need to get used to it and so does my buddie. It's his first gas plane and he has alot to learn. Landings were great and had no problems. She seattled in on all three with a tad of power. He wants to try Imac so this will be a great plane try it with. A couple pics from the field. Cory

RE: Aeroworks Extra 300LP build
I had a chance to put one of these together for a good friend of mine. I had some spare time told my buddy I put it together for him and being a quick build it takes no time. The 300LP in this scheme is just beautiful! I almost don't want to give it back to my buddy. We are doing the maiden tomorrow at out local field. I will post more about the way it flies once we complete the maiden. The cg came out perfect. I put it on my cg stand and it is a tad to the tail which will be perfect for me and my buddy. The batteries can be moved if needed with no problem as we already had that planned if needed. Here's some spec's and pictures of the finished plane. RE: Introducing the new 100cc Edge 540!
Hey everyone. Thought I would jump in here and share my experiance with the new 100cc Edge 540. I made it out on friday to do some flying with Rocco from Aeroworks and a good friend of ours, Randy. Rocco brought out the prototype of the 100cc Edge. I just love this plane! I am really serious about getting one of these. The Orange scheme is just beautiful and shows very well in the air. Watching Rocco fly it was just awesome! I was really excited when he asked if I wanted to take the sticks. [:D] I didn't try anything crazy or that, just some basic flight and some KE passes which were great. The plane flies very nice! Rocco did some amazing harriers with the Edge and I didn't see any wing rock. I was really amazed when he did an awesome harrier landing with and it and landed so gentle. Those of you who are in line to get one will be very pleased. Check out the photos. Rocco is doing the flying. The one picture is the 100 Edge, my 75cc Extra 260 and Randys 100cc Extra 300. Cory

RE: New 60-90 Extra 260
ORIGINAL: victorzamora If I were you, I'd go with Hyperion DS20-FMD's. They're cheaper, and I think they run better. They have about the same spec's really...they're just smoother (and $5 cheaper). Also, if you want to go a little more expensive....Hyperion DS-20x SMD's are the way to go. .11s and 130oz-in of torque AND they're coreless! Absolutely awesome. allerc.com carries them. It's what I'm running on ailerons and rudder. I've got HS-225MG's on each elevator half.
I'll check those out. I kinda wondered about those servos awhile back. Did you cut the joiner for the elevator half's? I may have to do that also. Cory
ORIGINAL: paul5992 I'm about done. It weighs 29.5 pounds on a digital bathroom scale. I can't believe it. 3 ounce carbon spinner. A123s 2300's. 2000mah nimh on ignition. One tail mount rudder servo. Batteries way up in front of the gas tank. The gas tank is a Fiji water bottle. I built everything as lite as I could and its still 29.5 pounds. I hope it flies well at that weight. With out my receiver or receiver batts it weighs 28.5 pounds what the heck?
You'll be just fine. I flew my buddies RCREBEL, and his flew very lite. His weighed almost 31 pounds. He's running smoke and remeber, once you add all the fluid it adds a more weight and the 300 handles it very nice. Cory
ORIGINAL: trpastor Hey Cory - did you do a dual elevator servo? Or do you have one 225mg on the whole elevator? Mark - is the 80 oz torque for the elevator and rudder mainly, or are you suggesting this on the ailerons as well, or do you think the 225mg s would be enough for those as is suggested on the forum here? They are 66oz/in @6v Thanks Tim
I'm using a single HS965mg on the elevator, HS225mgs on the rudder and ailerons. The 225mgs are running at 6volts and I don't see any problems. The HS965 is .10 transit at 6volt, so it's quick. Cory Here's the 225 in the wings. I used some plywood and made some filler pieces.

Guys! The Maiden was a success and was beautiful. I was even granted to take the sticks. Awesome Plane! A big thumbs up to Aeroworks! Two 12 minutes flights were performed and were awesome. The plane doesn't need much roll out and it's off the ground. It clicked along really nice at half power and landings were great. Turned on the smoke and gave the crowd a show. Hey Everyone. RCREBEL wanted me to post some pictures for him. I helped him fire up the plane lastnight and turn on the smoke. Everything went great. The weather turned crappy on us over the weekend so there was no maiden. He's shooting for tonight at the field for the maiden. Weather is gonna be nice today here in Colorado. [:D] I will report back to let everyone know how it went. Here's some pic's. Notice the autographs in the fuse by the rudder. He wanted everyone who helped get her done sign his plane. Aeroworks, Rocco and Mark Jason Noll, yes Jason, he was with Rocco and Mark and worked on rcrebels plane, setup the tail section. My self and a good friend of mine Eric who painted and detailed his prop. Pretty cool. It was a blast to have Rocco, Mark, Jason all there and share stories and have a good time and work on the plane. Cory
