RE: WACO YMF
ORIGINAL: Dash7ATP What is going on with the forum opening up.  If I click on the email link to this page or post, it stalls and won't open.  I can go to a saved link to page one, and it opens right up. Then I can go to the drop down menu to get to this page OK.  It's a little more time consuming, but I can get here. This has been going on now for about a week or so.  Great looking WACO, Tmac! I can not open a web browser from an email, but I can go through the long way by bring up the RCU from a new web browser and go the long way to get to the forum.... Well now I guess I have no excuses any more, I need to get off my duff and finish my 1/6 scale YMF so I can get started on my 1/5 Scale Waco. I received my package today from Fibertech with my cowling and wheel pant. Their is no need to split these wheel pants in half to shave the excess out of the middle that was all taken care of for me. COOL DEAL!!!! Here's just a few pics to show ya I'm not pollin yer chain.

Dallas, Since your madain voyage have you had any chances to get her underway again. I know that in one of your post you was trying to reconfigure your propulsion how did that all turn out. I can say one thing for sure you are making it hard to make a build to match what you have done. Job well done!!

Been a very long time since my last post, at least I keep up on reading the posting. Master Chief (Bill) you need to take better care of thee ole' ticker need you to stay around. Since us ole Navy guys are short on demand. To get back to the topic are we having fun yet? At least every chance I get to fire up my 1/5scale HPI Baja 5B, and burn up the trinches. As far as the 1/6scale Waco I haven't been able to get it finished yet, but hopefully I can get back to it and finish it. I bought one of those little Waco's from Hobby Lobby for an electric it isn't to bad for a foam modeled plane. Later for now

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
Dallas, Your tug is really looking good, the battery looks like it could get lost inside the hull. Have you gotten your final weight set yet for your draft of the boat to get it down to the proper water line. The guy with the 51" tug and if I remember right he said his weighed in at 80 pounds, I was just curious to see how much yours weighs in at for proper drafting. I am still trying to work out all the bugs on my bandsaw I bought, it doesn't have pitch rollers for guides on the blade all they are is pins you have to adjust to keep the blade from walking around, it at least has little rollers in the back of the blade when you are pusking the wood through, but in time I'll get all the bugs worked out and get busy on my tug. It might turn out to be a winter project, to much work to do around the house to get any time to play with the hobby, bad enough I haven't had the time to take any planes out to fly yet. Oh well! Good luck on the madian voyage.

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
The idea of the catwalk is a different look, but it all most turns it into a San Pedro tug. The only difference between the Angels Gate and the San Pedro tug the Pilot house is set back on top of the supersttructure to enable the catwalk to wrap around the front of the pilot house, and the Stack is a little different in shape as well. Harbor Models has the pictures of the San Pedro tug.

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
Dallas, keep up the pace of work your doing on your tug, you'll be doing a christening for your tug very soon. Very nice work so far very impressed. By the looks of things I have a serious amount of attention to deatail to up hold on mine. Thanks for the info about the Bandsaw I found the one from Harbor Freight, but I was able to do my homework and found a Skil Bandsaw through Lowes for about $20.00 cheaper than Harbor Freight plus free shipping. So hopefully after Tuesday I should be able to get my tug started, and I'll be able to post pics. Later

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
Dallas, I was checking out the work you have done so far and I'd have to admit I am very impressed! She is turning into a nice looking tug. I have one question for yea, your band saw where did you get it I have bee looking for one for some time now with no luck, I found one once, but the smallest blade it could use was 1/2" wide teeth and all, not a very good blade to use for cutting Birch ply with a lot of radius to cut, I like my scroll saw, but it only has a radius diameter of 18" not to good for some of the cutting I'll be needing to do here soon. It would make it hard to cut the Keel out for the tug. Now if I could get my hands on a band saw that could use narrow blade width now that would be the ticket to getting the work done. Keep up the good work, and keep the pics coming. Oh before I forget I meant to ask you what thickness of wood are you using for the Keel, on the plans I have if I use the thickness of wood that the plans were blown up to my keel would be 3/8" thick. Thanks

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
Dallas, As far I know and from what I have been told the Kort nozzle inhanses the effectiveness in the forward direction at making a more positive water column producing a more positive thrust. I meant to ask you about your Darby what are you running for propulsion a 6 or 12 volt motors. I have one of the Dumas American Beauty River boat, and it is set up with Dual prop with kort nozzle, and the surprizing thing is the rudder set up total of six rudders some serious steerage control, but some serious pushing power for a six volt propulsion sysytem. I just wish I had some bardges to set it up with to make it more realistic. Later

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
Dallas, On your Darby do you have it setup as an open wheel or closed wheel? So far I don't have my Darby built because I can't make up my mind as to which direction I want to go. To the best of my knowledge the actual tug is a closed wheel with dual rudder setup just like the one on Harbor Models website. If that is how the real Darby is setup then that is how I would really like to set mine up. On the plans for my 51" Angel Gate tug I measured it and it appears that the biggest prop I can fit on it is a 3.5" prop. So now I have to check out Harbor Models and see if they have a 3.5 x 5 bladed prop. Later

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
Well I Finally broke down, and made my first intitial wood order. Now hopefully I calculated right and orderd the right amount for my ribs and keel along with the lower and mid deck, I'll be in business I beleive that I have enough 1/8 x 1/2 Balsa strips to plank the hull, but shoot it will be a while before I'll be ready for that. I'll just have to post pics as they come available to share. I just hope mine turns out as well as yours is so far. I am starting out with a 51" tug for now, but I do plan on building a 37" later on just just wanted a tug the same length as my Darby first so I can have tug pulling contest to see which on is the bad A$$ tug on the pond. LOL Later for now!

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
Nice work so far, I bet that lazer cut kit from Martin Rousseau makes life a whole lot nicer. I have been in contact with him, and when I get a chance to make the order I am going to have a lazer cut kit done for a 51" tug. I really like his idea for the joints making look like puzzle pieces. So keep up the good work and pics as progress proceeds. I see your like me had to have a Mister Darby, but mine ain't finished yet.
ORIGINAL: RICKSTUBBZ Bill, All right, you woke some of us up with that…Shut it down [>:] ? Heck NO[sm=punching.gif]! I am still waiting on the chance to buy that T-shirt[:D]. I too, check in on this thread everyday. I have not been able to post here much because the stuff I have been working on only resembles a WACO in the since that they fly. Eventually I will start working on a WACO and you will be wondering how to shut me up[;)]. How’s the new shop coming by the way?
Here!! Here!! I whole heartly agree with Rick without the thread some of that really haven't built a plane of this magnitude would be lost without the tutelage and expertise of such a fine airplane [:D][:D], I haven't been working on the plane much at all took a big stall and I haven't been able to pick it back up the airplane out grew my work space available to set it up and do the incidence correctly, unable to manuever around it. I know I have only been with the tread since December 2008, but then I have to agree with Rick again since the notification of wanting to make another TEE SHIRT order I have been patiently awating for the day the order getting made, and officially becoming a member of the Waco Brotherhood the tee shirt would be like an official seal of membership of a club just like the little stickers AMA gives you everytime you renew your licence. Now off the subject matter the last 5 month have been pure torture, but I do think I have it beat now the desire has long past, but it has been now over "5 MONTHS WITHOUT A CIGARETTE"!!!!!! the only bad thing is there a still a lot of time where it feels like Bubba and Bertha are still sitting on me chest, but hopefully in time that will all pass. Bill is the matter of the tee shirts still alive or has it died due to the lack if interest? I still find it hard to believe that the other members of the Waco Brotherhood can't stand up or ROGER up on the part of helping make this a positive action, and get the order made. Hey at least now that I don't smoke I don't need the front pocket of the tee shirt to carry cigarettes around any more.[:D][:D] DON"T KILL THE THREAD!!!! please later all HOOOOLY smokes!!!! I just got a look at the roster 147 members WOW!! I guess we need to spark the interest about the TEE SHIRTS for the newest members maybe we can get an order made, it is really easy to do just send Bill (stickbuilder) an email for the size and the amount of shirts you want, and hopefully without to much pain we all can have a nice tee shirt to wear when we go out to fly our planes!![:D]

RE: 85 ft Harbor Tug/Angels Gate
I feel very relieved to see the tread is still some what alive, I started the tread to find the plans for the tug, and I would have never beleived that it would have gotten some much interest and inputs towards the tug. I personally haven't been able to start a project of my own yet, but I am still in the workings of it getting started soon!! I still have my Mister Darby to get finished who would have ever figured that the tug would involve so much money!, but once I get it finished I still have a Dumas kits American Beauty river tug to build and the angel gate tug to build, but hopefully in time I'll be able to post pic's of my own on the thread. later Happy building or for some Happy boating.

RE: Prather Spitfire II Hydro instruction manual
Thanks for the reply! I have a posty on the Intelwaters website and I have gotten a reply from it and also so some interesting news about Prather boats that Al Prather sold the rights to hyperformanceproducts.com so now they are building most of all the Prather line of boats. The only thing that I see different is that they mold the boats in a white primer base, which might make the surfacing a little easier.

Prather Spitfire II Hydro instruction manual
[:o]Hello All,[:o] Well my concern is I just bought a new in box Spitfire II off of EBAY, but when I got it the only thing missing out of the whole box was the building instructions. I am putting this out to see if there is anybody out there that might have the instrution book so I can get this boat put together. I would be willing to pay for the copy fees and postage and handling or if somebody has the means of scanning and can email the instructions it would be highly appreciated.
