RE: Hyde Mounts
I used the sullivan for years with a 2 stroke 1.20 and never had a problem. It will need a nose ring because it moves quite a bit. Tim

RE: what is the best/diffrent ways to secure the batteries for the engine??
I wonder if the experts told people the best way to store their batteries was to throw them off the cliff. How many packs would you find in the bottom of the ravine? Tim

RE: Scoop! Hangar 9 Phoenix 7...ARF!!!
When I first got into pattern Harry Roe was one of the elders on the circuit. I used to enjoy seeing Harry at contests and even bought a couple of brushfire kits from him. Those were the good old days. Tim

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*
I haven't weighed it since I took off the wheel pants and switched to carbon gear, but it should be under 11 lbs now. I haven't bought the carbon wing tube but it flies good at that weight with a bully 1.2 with a bolly tuned pipe. Tim

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*
I think with the carbon replacement parts you should be pretty close. Watch what else you add and I think you could get a good weight out of it. I got 3 more flights on mine last night and it does fly good, just a little heavy. I think it would be fine for everything up to advanced and with a little less weight masters should be good. Tim

RE: Funny Crash Story: Depth percetion almost got my Little Extra..
At least you were able to get it out of the tree. One guy in our club has had most of his plane a lot higher in a tree for a few months now. Funny how you know you are on this side of the tree, then all of a sudden find out you weren't. Tim

No it should still be called the 110. Now you could just say you needed a little more under the hood, so you stuffed a 115 in it. Tim More power never hurts

RE: Venus II Review
I agree for beginners it can't be beat. I'm talking about something designed specifically for pattern with airfoiled tail surfaces and stretched out. I still have a focus 2 that is a great flying plane. It's more money than the venus but I believe it flies quite a bit better for the locked in feeling they are talking about. I was just commenting on their mention of it not feeling locked in. Sorry I'll go back in my hole. Tim

RE: Venus II Review
The Venus II isn't a full fledged pattern plane. It's a sport plane that looks somewhat like a pattern plane. Being less expensive and flying pretty good it serves it's purpose. Get a 1.20 sized pattern plane and I bet you would feel a difference then. Tim

RE: One wing or two
I think you would get some interest, especially at a price like that if it flew well. There really aren't any local contests that weigh planes, mainly the nats. Since QQ won the worlds with his biplane it seems more and more are popping up. The cheapest I know of was the Element Bipe which I think was around $800.00. I wouldn't mind seeing what you came up with. Tim

RE: Pattern setup tips?
I run mine at around 100%. Do that with about 25-35% expo, and you should get a good feel. Then a lot of it is personal likes. Some like more expo, some less. Tim

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*
Well I got 3 more flights on the Aquila today. It flew well, but couldn't tell too much had a 12-15mph crosswind and it was a little tough. Isn't overpowered but has enough to get through most manuevers. I will get my focus II back out and see which I like better. Even with the heavy engine mine doesn't seem nose heavy. We'll try it some more and see what happens. Tim

RE: SL1A
I know it would be competitive at least through advanced and could probably do a decent job at Masters. It was a good flying plane back in the day. Pretty high speed by today's standards. The only place I think it would lack would be in the rolling manuevers, like the rolling loop. It would also take some good throttle control to keep it in the box. Just my thoughts, Tim

RE: Wild Hare Baby Edge 540
It would take more than a forward cg to do that. Especially at take off, as long as you didn't have a loss of power it should be ok. There had to be something else to just nose in like that. Tim

RE: A Super tiger 2300 Engine on a 60 size sport=Bad Idea
That's really not that crazy of a combo. The Astro Hog is pretty big for a 60 sized plane. You might have had a surface that just had too much play or a little too much gap and reached the right speed. Glad you got it back. Tim

RE: I absolutely hate crashing!!! There, I said it!
Sorry for the losses, I hate when it's something that is my fault when it crashes. When it's something else you can't really feel too bad. All planes are built with a crash date it just depends when that day comes. Tim

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*
Over the weekend I swapped out the aluminum gear for a set of carbon gear I had from a crashed Showtime 90. I cut them in half and had to cut them down just a little to get them to fit. I don't have a scale at home but I will check and I will bet that at least gets me down to a legal weight. I still have some other things to do but I will see how it flies and make any changes. Tim

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*
I know with the wing tube and gear I would be well under legal weight. That's why I'll change one thing at a time and see how it flies. It seemed to fly good initially. so I only think it will get better the lighter I get it. Tim

RE: *Aquila by Northeast Aerodynamics*
Well operation slim down the brick has begun. Taking off the wheel pants and cutting off the engine mount bolts has removed over 2 oz. Next is checking into lighter gear. I find it hard to pay $400 for the plane and then see that another for another $100, you can save all this weight. Tim
