RE: Temp gun
I ran without a temp gun for years....tuning can be done with sound,,performance and smoke trail with no issues......If you're really worried about it take a small medication dropper and fill it with water when the engine is up to temps drop a drop of water on the top of the cooling head and count how long it takes to sizzle away...3-4 seconds is about right....if it sizzles away faster its to lean.

RE: Tmaxx shift point?
have you tried tightening the slipper?....go all the way tight then back off 1/4 turn or so...also try leaning the top end just a bit....Whats the temps ? If the shift point hasn't been messed with before it still should be at factory settings which is exactly where you want it for bashing.....For racing it is track specific.

RE: looking for input from picco .26 owners!!
ORIGINAL: Iflyglow I ran a Picco .26 ''Outlaw'' Big Block for several years, and it was a killer powerplant.[;)]
totally differant engine.... I have run the max for close to 10 gallons of fuel in a Tmaxx......Took an entire gallon before it was really broken in....carb leaked from new, OFNA mount lasted about 6 gallons before the mounting holes stripped. Other than that it is a great engine and still fires up and runs well.

RE: 5309 vs 5308?
ORIGINAL: mxdubbs I got mine to about 60mph,IDK how accurate it was.we tested it on the old free way,no one really drives on it we seen maybe 10 cars max. Mine is the 5309,I think its a lot better than the 5308,I have a friend with the 5308 and his is about the same wait and besides it not being water proof it bottoms out and gets high centered a lot more. Oh ya Glad to see some body looking for nitro,I love mine...
probably not near 60mph at all.......stock it will do about 45mph depending on the tune and terrain.......

RE: Rear Mount Exhaust...
ORIGINAL: cmerritt well there aren't any good rear mount exhaust pipes. TSAIS is the best from what i've seen and it still has it's problems. Mostly tune-related and not being able to hold or find a good tune. I would stick with a side pipe. Are you running the stock chassis? Some side pipes can fit through the hole in the stock chassis in front of the exhaust so that the exhaust goes under the truck.
they don't put the hole in the chassis anymore...I believe that was up until the 2nd generation 2.5....my 3.3's don't have one no matter what you do your gonna get exhaust goo somewhere.....I just got used to cleaning it up....those deflectors work to a certain extent if you point it straight down at the ground but you still end up with it on the side of the truck or the rear right wheel....

RE: Aluminum vs RPM Witch 1 is better ???
ORIGINAL: piddlefoot Yea titanium arms and stuff, check em out, there truely the best, beat plastic and alluminium.... <a href=''http://www.beatyourtruck.com/prodreview-FLEXTEKRCarms.html''>http://www.beatyourtruck.com/prodreview-FLEXTEKRCarms.html
those arms aren't even being made anymore dude....may be able to find some on flea bay but try getting replacements if you do snap one.... Alloy skids, braces, bulkheads, steer servo guard, bumpers(not the mounts..just the bumpers),reciever box, diff cases, diff cups...the rest is plastic......I love RPM arms and the skid protectors and I plan on getting the shock towers.....I have yet to break any of their stuff. Although brands like Integy and RD logics are not cheap to buy they are very cheaply made with all efforts being put to how the product looks instead of how it functions.....

RE: Spur gear metal or plastic?
I run a steel spur and hardened clutchbell...all plastic tranny....plastic front and rear driveshafts to the wheels with no issues.....the spurgear is not designed to fail...the slipper clutch is designed to take any of the shocks and slip when the drivetrain is overloaded. Correct mesh is key to not destroying spurgears....if your spur melts you have another issue that caused it....no way around that. I have run both plastic and steel and my steel spur has about 10 gallons of fuel on it and its almost worn out....so whether its any better than plastic is still a mystery at least you have some opinions now.

RE: cant get tmaxx to start
awww gotcha.....try pulling the fuel line off of the pipe and blowing into it to prime the carb as well.....sometimes the carbs have a hrd time pulling fuel until they actually start combustion then the exhaust pressure waves take care of it.

RE: Exhaust gasket ???'s
usually means its really rich if you are getting fuel out the exhaust.....is it actual raw fuel coming out or just an oily residue....at any rate you'll want to fix it. #2 you can check to make sure the head is actually on tight.....these head gaskets usually don't fail its usually the head is damaged and doesn't seal properly or its just loose. This will cause a lean condition... # 3 you can find some silicone tubing usually at the hardware store or auto parts store that is the right diameter for alot less cash...this hobby is expensive enough LOL[:D]

RE: cant get tmaxx to start
what are you using to start it? the Ez start? check to see that the blue wire is actually making the glow plug glow....if using a hand held ignitor check the batts....are you actually getting fuel at the glow plug?....is this a new truck? if so try heating the head up with a hair dryer and loosen the glow plug just a bit as soon as it fires tighten it back up...hope that helps

RE: T-Maxx RTR 2.5 Radio Problems and other ?'s
buy a new steer servo and allocate the old steer servo to throttle duties.....Ie Hitec 645mg steer servo is such an improvememt over stock. Well if you do the actual FOC to the tranny you do free up some power and top end....that much I know...its all in your preferrance on that one... Tires are track and condition specific but for your purpose which sounds like mostly bashing with a track day thrown in once in a while... a good tire is HPI Dirt Dawg or hawg not sure which one they come in a MAXX size tire with some RPM revolver rims for a little style and you can't go wrong.

RE: Tmaxx help please.
unhook your throttle linkage from the carb and make sure the carb is fully closed at neutral on the transmitter and the actual carb.

RE: Spektrum radio owners, chime in!
it tells you in the manual......if the reciever looses the signal from the transmitter it automaticly returns the throttle servo to neutral....same thing if the battery voltage drops off.
