RE: *GP Giant Aeromaster $100.00 Off*
Okay so here it goes. Sodbuster1 The slave clevis' are all on the last holes and have always been that way but that would have been a good reason if they hadn't been. Rocky1405 If it were the radio then the lower Ailerons would have differential and they are spot on. do335a As per your pic, I looked at it and thought you must have got it. But when I measured the top hole on both contorl horns are 2 5/8" from the center of the Aileron Gaps. It has to be something simple I keep missing. I used digital calipers to measure so I know the measurments are correct. I think I'll have a friend come over and look at it maybe a new pair of eyes will see what I am missing. I have time to figure this out because we just got a fresh 13" of snow today. I hate to fly it like this because of the extra drag that will be caused. Thanks for everyones input. I must have a bunch of you scratching your heads like I am.

RE: *GP Giant Aeromaster $100.00 Off*
ORIGINAL: do335a Fortunately, I have the PDF version of both manuals - the kit version and the ARF version. The treatment is slightly different so let's concentrate on the ARF version and your video. The control hookup for the lower ailerons, or all ailerons, using either 2 or 4 servos as required, is detailed on pages 11-13. See especially step 5 on page 12, which shows a diagram of the correct installation of the control horns connected to the servos, along side a diagram of the incorrect installation. This is essential. Otherwise, you will get differential movement. Pages 24-25 cover the installation of the connecting rod between the upper and lower ailerons and show the installation of the control horns. They must be at the same location relative to the trailing edges of the ailerons. If they are not, you will get differential movement. It's hard for me to see from your video. However, it appears that the holes in the control horns for the slave rods between your upper an lower ailerons do not line up with the trailing edges of the ailerons. One looks to be at about the trailing edge and the other looks to be considerably forward of it. When I called up your video, I saw that it also showed a link to a short vidoe my GA with the wing walker and the smoke system on. I can assure you, those ailerons have been checked for movement and all four are identical to the suggested specs in the manual on page 26, without any differential. You must have an alignment problem somewhere in your aileron drive system. Thinking about it a bit more, I could be looking at this entirely wrong. Do you mena that both ailerons have an identical differential movement between up and down? Or is it that the differential is between two ailerons on one side of the plane? That is, does the differential exist between the two left ailerons, for example, so that one moves a given distance going up while the other moves a different distance in the same direction? Or is it that they both move up, say 1/2 inch on one side but only 1/4" down on that side? If it is the latter, simply adjust your servo end point positions. If it is the former, which is what I thought you were talking about, then it is a geometry issue as we've been discussing.
do335a thanks for the info. I know the pics weren't the greatest and depending on where I shoot them from they may look off. I know this system works because it worked for you and Azzir325, as well as a friend who I have been on the phone with who just finished a GP Skybolt and the slave Ails worked for him. Here is how my plane is set-up. Both right and left side do the same thing. It is definately a differential problem because both upper Ails move 1/2 more down then up. The bottom Ails move 1 in up and 1 in down on the left and rignt side on High rates.(yeah I know they say 3/4) -Step 5 on page 12 is done correctly on the plane. The holes for the control horn are on the hinge line but I do have HD servo horns on(dubro) the servos and I am in the LAST(outer most) hole . But this should not be a problem because the lower Ails do not have differentail. -Both upper and lower control horns are facing backwards and the bases are on the edge of the TE. For the left and right side. Both clevis pins are 1 in from the surface of the Ail. both upper and lower. For kicks and giggles, at this point, I unscrewed the upper horn and clamped it back on about 1/8 in back from the TE. I got MORE down throw. It made it worse. I know it's something I must be missing. Glad it's snowing and I have time to get this right.

RE: *GP Giant Aeromaster $100.00 Off*
ORIGINAL: do335a Azzir325 is absolutely correct on this. Also, the instruction book is well done on connecting the ailerons. So the first step to correct he problem is to find out what is not set up right. Then you can fix it. If all the horns are in the proper locations, the ailerons must move equal amounts as they are the same size. If they do not, something is mounted in the wrong place which is giving you the differential movement. It can be done, You've just got to determine the problem first. Then you can fix it quite easily. Hit and miss tweaking and relocating things before you determine the problem will drive you nuts, waste a lot of time and most likely not solve the issue, unelss it happens just by pure chance.
Not in the ARF version I downloaded from GP website. There is very little mentioned about it.

I didn't read this whole thread but I tried to search without any results. I am using slaved aailerons for the upper wing. I am getting 1/2 in more down throw in the upper wing ails then in the lower. I see no way to fix this. Any suggestions other then adding servos to the upper wing?

RE: Giant Aeromaster
This thread has been quiet for sometime now so I thought I'd post in it. I just got mine ready to fly. I'm running a Fuji 43EI with a 20x8, I found a 3 1/4 in AT-6 spinner that looks cool on the plane. For servos I have 4 HS-615 MG(2 elevators and 2 ail), HS-645 MG for rudder, forget what's on the throttle. I have an A123 2 cell 2300mA RX pack and a 4 cell 2000mA NiMH for the ignition. My all up weight is 18lbs 6oz. Which means I have a wing loading of 22.8oz/sq ft. or a wing cubic loading of 6.3 I bought it RTF with the Fuji but I stripped the electronics and put my own gear in it. I've heard both horror stories and great things about the fuji engine, so I'll see for myself how it goes. ALthough it seems heavy it does have a lot of wing area so it should have spirited flight. WHen the weather gets nice here I'll get it out to the field.

RE: Mean Machine Build??
I am building a MM with a Feigao 10XL, Hydra 120(not HV) am thinking about Lipos 4S2P(3800-5000mA) or 12 cell IB3600NiMH It was suggested by Jay(the auther of the article) to go with either m445, x642, m545 or m645. I have no idea the difference between any of them but I plan on getting one balanced and sharpened so at $35. a pop I can only get 1. I'd like to see 40mph or faster without frying the batts, ESC or motor. Which prop should I go with???

RE: Ask Maarten DeMoor - Setting Up AFP(D) To The Max
This is what it stated on the site ATI XPert / ATI All In Wonder / ATI Rage (this accounts only for the old 7xxx series. The 9xxx series is highly recommended!) The card I have is (2006 Edition) is newer then the 9xxx series and has 256 mb I haven't bought any addons but I do have planes and scenery that I have downloaded from other sites. Everything works fine except for those 2 scenes. I would hate to download the patch and find things not working.

I just downloaded the new drives but those 2 scenes still don't work. I have an ATI All-In-Wonder 2006 card. Don't know if it matters but the version of AFPD I have is 1.8.21 and I did not download the Patch Version 1.11.07.09 because I didn't know if I have a 3D-card with OpenGL 2.0 driver support.

RE: Ask Maarten DeMoor - Setting Up AFP(D) To The Max
I read through this thred but not all 12 pages. I tried to search the AFPD forum but did not get any results. I want to change the CG of a plane but do not see where to do it in the edit mode. The only way I can see to do it is to make the tail surfaces heavier. Is there a way to put in a # value for the CG?

RE: new hyperion 3d models
AND FREE SHIPPING!!!!! Plus it is a local hobby shop that has knowledgeable staff who fly the planes they sell, and give you a great deal even if you do not know about it. In my case I called them to order a Hyperion Cap 232 for $99. (the going price most places) and I was told they had a special which added 3 E-Flight S75 servos(not my favorite, but still FREE!) for the same price I was paying for the plane alone PLUS free shipping. I was pleasantly surprised and will purchase from them again. After all the other site has this posted: "super sale Limited Stock Any Cap 232 SU31 Or Extra 300l kit $135.00" Of coarse you could pay $20. more too(my calculations is $35.). I know nothing about the other shop, I am sure they are fine too. Not here to bad mouth them just thought everyone should know about a better deal. After all we are a community of Modelers, here to help one another. I thought. [8|]
ORIGINAL: gt_jumper like $20 less
RE: changing the weight of a plane
That's a whole lot of work just for 1 plane. Any way of doing it so that we could just put in a # of the total weight of the plane and not have to do each plane individually? I have like 30 planes.
ORIGINAL: mach1-RCU You can open the aircraft TMD file using windows notepad. Use the find function to locate the line Geometry/fuselage. Under that heading you will see a line that says Mass = (some number in GRAMS) This is what the weight of the plane is currently when you load it in to fly. The next line says RangeMassMax = (some number in GRAMS). This is the maximum the plane can be changed in the airplane editor. Change this number to a higher one. Remember it's in grams here. Then save the file. Start AFPD and edit the plane. Select Fusealge and change the weight anywhere up to the weight you noted in the file. Save the airplane. Then check the weight in the first screen of the editor. This doesn't seem to effect the physics just feels heavier and requires more power.
RE: NEED A 3D PLANE...I GOT A NEW DA-50
Putting a 50cc in a H9 Extra 260 reminds me of all the people who used to put .60's in a .40 plane. It just does not have the wing area for that engine. It was not built for the 50cc gas it was built for large glow. The WH 540 was and is a GREAT choice. Not knocking the 260, it's a great plane other then the landing gear that delaminates, I have seen it fly with a YS on it. But with only 78" wing span and 1134sq in VS the WH 84" wing span and 1365 sq in IMO the 50cc is big for it. As for Yaks, there are 6 at our field. Be original get something other then a yak.
