RE: Pictures of a huge new hobby shop in Houston area
Yes - we were in the Sugar Creek shopping center for over ten years - Now we have moved onto a 2.2 acre site less than 5 minutes away from our old store .

Pictures of a huge new hobby shop in Houston area
Check out the new RC Hobby Shop over in Stafford,Tx just outside of Houston this huge new store is packed full of more airplane ARF's than I have ever seen in a hobby shop. They just finished up the new RC car tracks and this place looks like the place to be if you are in the Houston area. Check them out www.RCHOBBYSHOP.com.

RE: *Carbon-Z Yak 54 BNF by E-flite*
My setup for 3 d with carbon z yak - max throws with 65% expo for ail & elev 45% expo on rudder get all the travel you can out of your radio - the linkages are set perfectly already slide battery all the way back in stock compartment and then I tape 2 quarters and a nickel to the back radius of the rudder with clear tape this really allows you to: hover reasonably easily , still retain great all around performance, it will be tail heavy on landing but extremely manageable. This plane excels at knife edge , great waterfalls, fast precise rolls, roling harriers no problem . If you get one of these take it easy the first few flights then add tail wieght and tweak the radio settings to your liking then go out and have some fun my new favorite plane

RANGE ON THIS PLANE IS OVER 300 FT IF YOU HAVE FULL BATTERIES IN THE CONTROLLER. I HAVE FLOWN IT FROM INSIDE A STORE LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW WELL OVER 200 FT WITH NO PROBLEMS NOT EVEN A GLITCH , ALTHOUGH WHEN THE TX BATTERIES START TO GO OUT THEN YOU WILL LOOSE RANGE QUICK

RE: Micro Cessna 210 RTF Electric
is it just me or does this plane fly awesome , i have made 8 minute flights with touch and gos stall turns loops spiral dives and close calls that when you pull up this plane just gets right on track. There is something with the wing and motor incedence that provides extreme stability and the ability to right it self well, all this coming from a SCALE plane that is tiny, this plane is truly a breakthrough everybody needs to go buy one

RE: Parkzone's Cessna 210 Centurion RTF
wow i figured this post would be huge by now this is the coolest rc product since the blade cx. this is a plane easy enough for a beginer to fly yet will continually amaze the most seasoned rc pilot. This plane flys so well and even handles a bit of wind compared to many larger entry level planes. I can not say enough about this plane it is a huge advance in r/c technology and will push the limits on the new products that will be released next. Up in the air the cessna has power to climb do a loop if you are going in to the wind or you dive it then pull up and you can fly large smooth patterns. If you are a seasoned pilot this plane can do stall turns, spirals and low tight manuevering . This plane can take off from the ground and fly up out of sight ....remember this little plane is only about 14 inches big, simply amazing and very well thought out

SINGLE CYLINDER DA 85 IS WHAT I AM WAITING FOR ANY WEEK NOW BUT I AM WONDERING IF MAYBE THE 5.8 FPE MIGHT BE A MORE POWERFUL ENGINE . THERE IS NO BUDGET OR ANY DETERMINING FACTORS EXCEPT SPEEEEEEEEED. WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS I WOULD LIKE THE PLANE TO GO ABOUT 120MPH

RE: Open new RC hobby shop
if you want to have a good store you need 200-400k for inventory and startup cost , the fact that you only have 1 store within 90 miles is good , unless that means you dont have dense population in your area. Also if you open up a hobby shop make sure it is that , a hobby shop not a rc car shop . You have to have a diverse selection of products because belive it or not not all hobbyist like rc cars , in fact alot of them hate rc cars. So if you are going to sell to the masses then you need to stock stuff that the general public will buy ,not just what rc car drivers will buy. Plastic models, kids toys , trains are among the largest categories and profitability for hobby shops, you have to use the profits from them to grow your specialty niche in Rc. You will find that rc products generate a profit of 25-35 % profit where trians, toys and plastics are usaully 100% profit. Sell an rc car or plane kit for $199.99 and make $40 profit, or sell a plastic model or train for $79.99 and make $40 profit. Our store specailizes in high end planes and cars but all the GENERAL items in the store do make profit and is much less of an inventory investment, vital to succesful hobby shops. If you have a specialized single market hobby shop it will have a limited life span gauranteed. You have to remember the average new customer walking into a hobby shop is much more likely to spend 10 bucks on a kite or 20 bucks on a plastic model rather than 500 on a tmaxx. if selling some silly kite or yo yo makes money it doesnt matter to me because after all that is the reasson you are in business -- to make money. The biggest problem that i see new shops is hobbyist opening a hobby shop instead of realizing that you are a hobbyist opening up a retail bussiness with no retail knowledge only limited product knowledge. go to NRHSA.org for more info sorry for being a realist

RE: Buy From TOWER HOBBIES and HORIZON HOBBIES whenever possible please !!!!!!!!!!!
It is too bad for those of you without a good hobby shop locally to go to , you don't know what you are missing out on although this is not your fault. At our local hobby shop you can go in and pick up a DA50 ,mejzlik prop, some swb arms, and a good piece of advice to go with it. You can get a hacker motor a hyperion yak and a 5 cell thunder power battery and every accessory needed to get it flying . If you race rc cars you can spend $1500 on you tmaxx revo or savage customizing it with aluminum parts just to your liking. You could buy online but there is not a single website around where you can truly find a diverse selection of the best product for EACH APPLICATION like you could in a good hobby shop that can choose a product based on its funcionality and performance ,not pricing or branding. Tower may have a great giant scale 3d airplane but try to find a decent gas engine they sell to power it , simply put they are all basically boat anchors. Why because the large name vendors will promote their proprietary products which are manufactured to their specs and PRICING so instead of finding a better quality product to provide to thier consumers they find one they can make more money on, and you can't blame them . Consumers have to realize that if every body buys from mail order then eventually you will have no store to go to on saturday to get that 3mm set screw or bottle of super glue that will determine if you are flying or not on sunday . If your LHS has a plane that you want in stock ,give them a chance before you mail order it . In the wal-mart world we live in today the hobby industry is not up to speed with others. If you had to go to the store and buy an ipod then take it home and put it together , you might pick a local store that you know you can ask a question about the product rather than find the cheaper price in the internet and ruin your investment because you didnt have the needed knowledge to put it together correctly . Most (non hobby)products you buy today are ready to use, but most hobby products do need assembly and support ,that is why your hobby shop is there. Sometimes the prices in local hobby shops is a bit more expensive than mail order, but if you have a damaged product or a question you can talk to a real person face to face that can usaually solve your problem better than a person paid to take phone orders 1000 miles away from you and you have ship the item to them before you get an answer. Also Obviuosly Tower and Horizon will not be going out of business any time soon , both of them can control the market . 70%+ of all hobby shops inventory is bought from the parent companies of Tower and horizon so the origanal issue post about them struggling is just for lack of a better term -retarded, the complaints they are having is the fact that the cheap chinese direct products are having a negative affect on multiple things in the hobby industry . I think this will be one of the biggest issues in the years to come. Look out for the first real china based distributor to have a full product selection coming straight out of china with dirt cheap prices. That is when Tower and horizon will come up with new innovative products and marketing to offer a better VALUE over the alternatives. ................until then find a local hobby shop and support them so they can grow into a full service store that can supply you with what you need
