RE: RCV 60 SP sat unrun for many years - what to do before running
Hello Peter I can confirm that your two 60SP engines are of 2001 vintage and were as you say sold.... As you can see these are fairly early engines and many changes/improvements were done since these were sold... changes or seal replacements which we can suggest at this point. Hope you get on with them ok. Regards RCV Engines

RE: 90SP + CoolPower 10% fuel ok?
Hello from RCV We used to specify that fuel used on our engines had a small amount of castor in it. However, for some time now we have switched over to using a fully synthetic fuel for all our test work and are very pleased with the results. We now recommend either a fuel with a samll amount..., but as long as it is a good quality fuel you should have no problem with a fully synthetic. RCV Engines

RE: 90SP + CoolPower 10% fuel ok?
Hi At RCV we now do all our testing on Techpower 10 which is a fully synthetic fuel. We find that that runs extremely well. We have no direct experience with Coolpower 10 so we are unable to recommend without qualification. RCV

RE: RCV engine for a trainer
Hi Yes, the RCV60-SP should be fine for a trainer of this weight and using this flying style. We do not recommend a fuel with high castor content. If this fuel is hard to come by it would be fine to use a fuel with high quality synthetic oil content. I hope this helps. Kind regard Stephanie

In reply to dave0955 Sorry to read that you are having problems with your engine. I have discussed this with our Chief Technician, as you will appreciate it is difficult to remotely diagnose, however we suspect it maybe related to the timing of the engine. Would it be possible for you to check this. We would appreciate it if you could contact us direct on sales@rcvengines.com with your engine and contact details. Many thanks Stephanie

RE: RCV 91cd Exhaust pipe
Hi I am afraid RCV do not make a 90 degree exhaust pipe. The pipe threads are standard OS sizes as you mention so that you can use a pipe suitable for other 4-stroke engines. The thread size for the RCV91-CD is M11 x 0.75 (this is the same as the OS91FS). I hope this helps. Many thanks Stephanie

RE: 120SP Any thoughts on this fuel?
Hello Hellcat, As per the posting by Andi you will be not be able to change the compression on your engine, without making modifications to it. As I have already stated we do not recommend this type of fuel, so we cannot say how the engine will perform for you, if you use it. We have a pretty comprehensive warranty including a Lifetime guarantee scheme (from 010805) so as long as you have registered your engine for our 2 year international warranty and have not altered the engineering configuration in any way, crashed the engine or abused it, we will honour the warranty. Now, I feel I have to make this clear to you. If you wish to go ahead and use a 20/20 fuel, with more than 15% nitro which could put stress on the engine, therefore resulting in damage. We are not at liberty to cover you for warranty, as this could be deemed as abuse. I hope this will help you decide on the best course of action. Many thanks Angela Peskett

RE: 120SP Any thoughts on this fuel?
Hello HellcatAce, We have no no first hand knowledge of using Powermaster YS20/20 fuel as is it not one of our recommended fuels, due to the high oil/nitro content. As you are aware our recommendation is for 15% oil and 10% nitro. However, if you would prefer to run your engine on this fuel then by ll means try it but please be aware it may not run at optimum performance. Best regards Angela Peskett

RE: I know this has been asked many times...
Hi I have spoken to our Chief Technician and can advise that the Zinger 3 blade props that you intend to use will absorb between 1.8hp and 2.1hp which is more than you will get from a RCV90-SP. We would therefore recommend the use of the RCV120-SP which will produce around 2.0hp at 5600rpm. I hope this helps answer your query. Best regards Stephanie

RE: Wood props on SP series?
Hi Jim We always use and recommend glass composite propellers, however wooden propellers can be used if necessary and have been used in some RCV testing. It is important however to use good quality/heavier wooden propellers because generally wooden ones are too light and do not produce the flywheel effect. A point to note is that RPM figures will be lower when using wooden propellers. Best

RE: 90SP + CoolPower 10% fuel ok?
Hi I have spoken with our Chief Technician and can advise that CoolPower 10% would be OK in our RCV90-SP. Fuels must have an oil content of around 15%, with no more than 6% Castor Oil. However we do recommend the use of high quality fully synthetic oils giving clean running and longlife. All of our engines are tested using Model Technics TechPower 10. Some alternatives would be Morgan Omega 10

Hi Thank you for your post. From what you have described, it does not sound like you have followed the starting adapter instructions. Please make sure you remove the cone and fit the adapter as per the instructions. To answer your question you can start the 60SP the conventional way it will not damage the engine, however we do not recommend this for safety reasons. Thank you and kind regards Stephanie

Hello Buz2au, The best RCV SP engine for your P47 will be the RCV90SP using a 15.5 x 12 APC propeller. If you could run the engine in first on a 18x 12 APC propeller before running on a 4 blade blade that will be ideal. Have fun Angela Peskett
