Hi John, I will check the website you mentioned. Thanks John, you have been very helpful after I went through your thread from page 1. I will send a mail to the full scale owner in Japan to see if he is able to send me more pictures for those missing instruments. Thanks John! Wallace J. Kao

RE: WACO YMF
Hi All, Here are some cockpit pictures of Waco YMF-5C Super I got from the full scale owner in Japan, I am building the same as shown on the first picture from Peter Barth's 1/4 scale kit. I am working on the drawing using Corel Draw, but still missing some instruments located at both upper corners, so I think I have to figure those instruments out myself...

RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi all, Can anyone help me on deciding what the best right thrust and down thrust angles are for Saito FA-450R3 engine on the 1/4 Scale Peter Barth's Waco YMF? I way planning to apply 1.5 degree right thrust and 0 degree for down thrust, but not sure if this is enough for such engine. Bernie, Your Waco is really looking good, can not wait to see pictures of fuselage built up. Are you going to make functional front cockpit door? Wallace J. Kao

RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Thanks to SoCalSal and Cesar, I will keep the firewall straight with 0-0 degree and use either standoffs for G-62 or engine mounting box for Saito FA450R3 once I decide which engine will be installed on the plane. Thanks to both of you again! Wallace J. Kao

RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi Cesar, Good to know that your Waco YMF is almost ready for maiden, wish you the best![sm=thumbs_up.gif] I am doing the firewall now, but need to know what is the best way to make the firewall with 1.5 degree right thrust and 0-2 degree down thrust? either the firewall with required angle or keep the firewall straight and make the engine mount box with required angle accordingly? I am planning to use either Saito FA450R3 or G-62 Gaser. Wallace J. Kao

RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi Cesar, I attached here with two pictures for your reference, The top view with red line area shows the front cockpit area, it is located on top of both 507 and 508 bulkheads.... The side view with red line area shows the front cockpit door, I may have to cutout the 501 longeron to make functional door... I hope this is clear enough for you to figure out what I am trying to solve [:D]

RE: Buiding pics Waco YMF-5 Barth Modellbau
Hi All, Does anyone have any idea of making functional front cockpit door? It seems that I have to cutout the upper left side of the longeron between former 507 and 508 and make another former right after 508. I am worried about if this is going to affect the airframe structure. Your input regarding this issue is appreciated. Thank you all! Wallace

Hi Cesar, It is really enjoyable of reading your Waco YMF-5 building thread. Thank you for sharing, Cesar [;)] I received the 1/4 Scale Waco YMF-5 kit from Mr. Peter Barth about a month ago. After checking all parts in the box, plans and reading throughout the manual, I have to admit that this is the most complete kit I have ever had in terms of quality, accuracy. I will start the build very soon but need to study a little bit more about making functional front cockpit and door and possible chance of converting to YMF-5C Super version. Wallace J. Kao

RE: Technopower radials powerfull enough for ziroli dauntless?
I don't thing the Technopower 1/5 Scale 9 Cyl. radial engine can handle Ziroli SBD, unless you are able to keep the weight much lower. I used Saito 450R3 for my Ziroli SBD

RE: 110" Dauntless project - it began
Looking good on you progress, Joe. I am also thinking about making a detachable horizontal stabilizer as it definitely can not fit into my car either. So I would like to know how you do on this portion if you have any pic available. Are you going to make the elevator control surface linkage also detachable with hidden control horn inside the fuse or leave the horn as what the plan shows? it has taken me days to fingure out how to make them all detachable and still not quite sure about which way to go. Thanks! Wallace
