ME 262 info for Father & Son Project
Hello friends, I have reached that magic time in my life where my teenage son said "Dad you need to fly something different, lets build and ME 262" After some soul searching knowing how much time and money is involved I said OK under one condition. We will scratch or plan build this twin turbine beauty. I plan on teaching him how to design/build models. So my question is does anyone offer a good set of plans, 3 views or short kit? Does anyone have a partially completed project? I tried a few searches for a descent 3 view drawing but no luck so far. We have a few plastic models on order. Thanks again, this should be interesting. Peter D

Futaba 14 question
I'm about to start my new Kingtech K-80 turbine. I'm an old JR guy so please be gentle on me. I understand that the throttle channel has to be reversed for the ECU to work properly with a Futaba radio. Do you use servo reverse or hardware reverse? Also I need to set up a kill switch instead of a trim to turn the turbine off. How much offset is required? Thanks again for all the help. Peter D

RE: Spektrum range test results don't look good
ORIGINAL: AndyKunz
It seems the range test mode at 30 paces must be on the edge of adequate signal.
30 paces is a go/no-go value. Usually they fail long before you get to 30, or they go way past 30. If you aren't getting 30 reliably, have the radio serviced.
I did indeed, your saying the telemetry was not designed for use during the range check seems slightly odd as the range check screen includes telemetry data if it's fitted to the model.
It's there to give you more information during a range check. If you're getting a hold or frame losses during range check at 30 paces, have the radio serviced. In short, have the radio serviced. Andy PS - Don't forget, have the radio serviced. Start here: http://www.horizonhobby.com/content/_service-center_render-service-center
Being in the UK I would send the radio to Horizon UK, but thanks for the link. I now also have access to a 2 week old DX8 so will compare it to mine before doing anything, purely out of curiosity.

RE: Spektrum range test results don't look good
Thanks guys. I've done a bit of relocation, but wont be able to test for a while as we've got solid rain for the foreseeable future. It does make far more sense having one vertical and the other horizontal. It seems the range test mode at 30 paces must be on the edge of adequate signal. What's slightly annoying is all my test equipment only goes up to 1.6GHz so trying to do anything with sure results is a bit difficult.
ORIGINAL: Thomas B Did you do the range check at 30 paces as instructed? Model on the ground, enter range test mode by pushing the button while in the correct screen and walk 30 paces away from the model while working the controls. If you get less than 30 paces, Spektrum suggests you get your radio serviced. With the radio signal/TX output strongly attenuated by the range test button, it would not be surprising at all to get some lost frames and a hold. When using telemetry with the DX8, I get a few lost frames once in a while and a very rare hold once in a great while. The only evidence is in the telemetry...cannot tell in the air. I would ignore telemetry during the range check, as it was not designed for use during the range check.
I did indeed, your saying the telemetry was not designed for use during the range check seems slightly odd as the range check screen includes telemetry data if it's fitted to the model.

Spektrum range test results don't look good
Evening guys, I've recently started the move from 35MHz to 2.4GHz, so far limited to parkflyers and have been very happy with the results. While running in a new engine I had a play with the range check while using a TM1000 telemetry box and in the flight log data I ended up with quite a few lost frames and one hold, considering this was over just 15-20 seconds of pointing the Tx all over, that doesn't quite sound right... I was directly behind the model so the satellite Rx wouldn't have been doing much, the position of the AR8000 doesn't seem ideal too, being so close to the steel pushrods and servos. So, any tips as far as the numbers go? I should think by now there must be some 2.4GHz installation guides around? Thanks guys.
