RE: Airtronics SD10G for pattern
Still playing with my new SG10 and loving it as well. I had some issues with some servo extensions with filters... but after some time and trying a few other brands it even caused interference with them as well so I have been delayed in getting some airtime with the radio. RE: What do you think??
You do not want to use the OS 120 pump. It is a great scale motor but lacks the oomph for pattern. I went this route and wish I hadnt earlier. I would go with the YS 100 or 115 or the os120 two stroke. Chuck Hochhalter

RE: P-11 Figure M
I noticed that as well on the sim Don... seemed when I stalled in the direction of flight it was "easier" to end up on top of myself where as I could stall "short" to help fix poor geometry if the first leg was not flown properly. Chuck

RE: Harmony Bipe
Just a note as well... I have flown the plane 3 times... and only one of those was a full flight. Second was cut short my motor trouble and the third was at 50 feet after takeoff massive flutter. So.. honestly... I am not going to change anything on my setup until I can solve the aerodynamic disaster waiting to happen issue which may clear up a bunch of the other stuff. I will advise all when we are flying again. Chuck

RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana
So MJ, your personal preferences are what drive your arguments for the rules or a solid understanding of what it takes to be competitive using either propulsion system. Fact of the matter is... planes can easily be built electric or glow and make weight. It doesn't always take a lot of money.. it does take more work to convert one plane to another but that is achoice the pilot makes when doing so. I have built both and flown both and had success with both and all my planes have been 2 meter and under 10lbs 6 oz. This discussion has been beat to death. You can be competitive following the rules... why not follow them. Jason, Andrew, QQ, Brett and Chip have and because of that the each have the opportunity to represent our nation. Chuck

RE: Harmony Bipe
Plane drops the nose when the 45 deg upline roll to inverted test is performed. I think you might be right about the thrustline.... would also clear the pull to the canopy in the downline... cant remember if it did.. but i think so.. hahaha.. too excited. Chuck

RE: P-11 Figure M
It seems if you just bang the sticks, the plane will snap esp if you are using a lot of aileron in the spin, a mostly rudder spin and a little aileron to help reverse direction seemed to work nicely on the sim... hehe been playing a bit tonight. anyhow... just noticed these things. Chuck

RE: P-11 Figure M
This combination seems to cater to those who like to fly around 170-180 meters and push their sequence out a bit. This obviosly opens up more airspace to fly the 1/2 reverse bigger and smoother. Also noticed no Top Hat or cross box Humpty. I have been flying the M on the sim a lot and look forward to trying it (very high) once at the field again. Chuck Hochhalter

RE: Set-Up Help
Chris, Let me point you in the direction of Dualsky Motors. I have flown these for two years and the 110 size would be perfect for this plane. I used this motor in my E-Pentathlon with a takeoff weight of 10 lbs 2 oz. Slightly underpowered but got 3rd in Advanced with it. I used 3750 mah packs to also help keep weight down. check them out at www.2dogrc.com Chuck Hochhalter

RE: School Project: Design, Build, Fly!
Chris, You can relieve the existing firewall and mount a new one further back using reverse standoffs with minimal weight gain and strength loss. Similiar to IMAC style mounting of the engines, but you slide it back instead of forward. Chuck Hochhalter
