RE: Top-Flite 1/5th F4U Corsair ARF Group Build and modification thread
I emailed Robart on electric retracts for Corsair, to find out when they would come off back order, NO REPLY. Does anyone have any info? Tower just moved date again to end of August. Really want to try out these gears. Thanks, Rick

RE: Header Drop on 50cc Yak ?? PROP ??
Could some one from AeroWorks look up what drop for header for 50cc Yak54. I've looked in manual and cann't seem to find any where that states drop needed. It suprizes me as the arfs are so complete with all the little extras, it seems strange they left this out. I would like to look into this plane more. Thanks for your time Rick M

RE: TF FW190 A3 ARF
Just for the heck of it , I called Tower Product Support and they told me that they have no specs. yet for the TF FW-190, but will put them on the web site as soon as they are released from Topflite. This leads me to believe they are stalling and a mid Sept. release date is to soon . I thought I read that the new giant Corsair arf took 6 months, to release. SO, it looks like a watchful eye from everyone to see when info is released. Rick

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
On my Corsair, I did a mix with the flap and aux 4 on my JR 12x. This is the same way you do with ailerons and elevator so you have a slave channel and a master. Once you have this set you go to servo reversing and switch direction of one flap servo. This makes it so both servos can be mounted in the same way and no y harness. I realize some radios don't have all the bells to do this, but there are also companys that sell a servo reverser. You want to keep the flap servo facing toward fuse, so you are toward end of flap where it goes to mate to center flaps. Hope this helps Rick

RE: TF FW190 A3 ARF
Tower has the FW 190 coming in mid August for 749.00. I taking a big guess that it is the same size as the already released giant scale arfs that have come out. 50-55cc size motor, about 86 inch span and about 20 lbs. I would also guess that Robart is coming out with a set of retracts. I may be all wrong about this, but that is what I came up with. Since mid August is not that far away, there should be more info coming soon if they plan on meeting their date or this whole thing may be be farther out. I just got the giant scale Corsair which looks pretty good for a arf. Rick

RE: Top-Flite 1/5th F4U Corsair ARF Group Build and modification thread
Great job on the mods so far. I saw the tail wheel in the ad being low. I'm picking mine up tonight from hobby shop. I have a old Byron Corsair that I'm restoring. It needs some work on the wings. I have striped the paint from the glass fuse and covering from all control surfaces. It is basiclly the same size as the TF arf. I got the TF arf so I can get one in the air right away, as my build time is reduced during summer. I plan on using Robart electrics in mine. Rick

RE: SOUND LEVELS ON 42% PLANES
AMA uses 3 meters to test, the hardest to meet, but what our club uses. I'm not sure why IMAC uses a different distance. I have worked hard in my club to keep noise down, as we have one person that lives near our field that is objective of the noise, I have felt that exhaust noise is the highest noise maker, as gas exhaust has more sound energy than glow fuel. The use of canisters for me has helped alot for dropping Dbs.. Also, I have to use a 3 blade carbon prop to reduce tip noise. The reduced tip speed makes a difference. Another club in our area uses a test flying a certain height wide open to check sound. I cann't remember what their limit is. I don't fly at contests, but just some one who likes big planes with gas engines. Throttle managment is a useful tool to reduce sound in the air. Wide open power is not needed in most flying and flying around 3/4 power reduces noise big time, as you make a pass down the runway. Other than a short time on takeoff and some verticle manuvers, wide open is not needed. I also have found doing a split s to turn around is a handy low power manuver, that masks almost all noise. I have to be careful at one end of our field to make sure to keep noise down. We own our flying field, but still have to keep noise down, so no complaints. Rick

SOUND LEVELS ON 42% PLANES
Was thinking of getting a 42% 150cc size plane, with MTW Canisters and a 28.5 3 blade Mejlik prop. Would this setup be with in the 96 DB. level? Our club has a 96 Db. sound restriction. My 100cc size planes on cans and 3 blade can make that, but before I jump into the big boys pool, I need to know what I'm getting into. Thanks for your time. Rick

RE: Problem with Graph Tech gear
I have used Graph Tech for 2 seasons now on my 100cc QQ's Pitts Python. I have had no spreading issues or breakage, even on a couple of not so smooth landings. I have bought the gear for my new H9 Beast. Not sure why you are having a problem, the gear is very strong. Maybe you have a bad gear from a batch that was made wrong, and all the gears in that batch are bad?

RE: Horizon went big
I just hope they do a better job on this one than they did on the 100cc one they came out with. It didn't live up to what had come from H9 in the past, ended up selling the one I had. On one note about buying one of these big ones, how many of these will be bought, put on a build thread, to race with others to be the first to have and fly, only to be put up for sale. I've seen so many of that going on, people have to have , than after that, their looking for the next new plane.

RE: Question about cans
I would say some cans do give a slight increase in power. My feelings they offer more of a sound reduction than any thing else. If you are looking at 3D QQ uses cans on most of his planes, as well as many other top pilots. Too many flying fields and contests are restricting noise out put. They do the job, and some of the big long rear exit will boost power. Rick

RE: MEJZLIK AND PT MODELS CF 3 BLADE PROPS ???
Does anyone know why both TBM and Chief Aircraft has stopped selling a good portion of what they used to sell. 3 blades are still popular in IMAC, else where noise reduction is needed.

MEJZLIK AND PT MODELS CF 3 BLADE PROPS ???
I have been looking at TBM and Chief Aircraft, who both carry cf props, and have found both Mejzlik and PT Models seem to be almost all out of stock as far as 3 blade. I have ordered also from DA, Mejzlic in the past, but didn't call yet. These props come in shipments so many times a year and are out of stock some times. I use a 25 x 12 3 blade on my 100cc's to help with noise, along with canister mufflers. I know that there are other 3 blade cf props, but I had good luck with these 2 brands. Does anyone know if these are not being carried any more, or is there other dealers in US who carry 3 blade CF props? Thanks for your Help

RE: IS THE NEW H9 BEAST HERE???
That is the problem with coming out with a model of a scale plane, your stuck with the color scheme. I bought a used Python last year. and love it. I'm not into 3D flying, but more full scale aerobatics. I bought a beast a week ago. Yes it is a little on the dark side, but I believe it is worth my time to do a little face lift. I plan on stripping the covering off the bottom of the wings to do a scheme similar to the Python, but in red and white. I'm leaving the top of the wings alone and the fuse. The inter plane struts are going to be red as well. This will take a little work, but it is worth it, for me. As I like the view of the bottom of the wings on the Python. I still believe you will have to use the cover if out in the sun. My club has a big shelter that I can put the plane out of the sun, on hot days. This will be a fall project for me, as I have the Python to fly now. Hope this might spur a little more interest in the Beast. Rick

RE: IS THE NEW H9 BEAST HERE???
Maybe you didn't understand may question. There is a review of the plane in the Horizon's ad for plane. One spot on Horizons site it says late April delivery, on spot it says late summer, but this person says he has received a kit. So are we to assume that his review is false and he doesn't have it? I was hoping that some one might have info on when the first shipment was coming. Rick

IS THE NEW H9 BEAST HERE???
Went on line to Horizon's web site and saw a review from some one that had recieved a H9 Beast. I also see that Horizon has moved arrival to late summer. I was told that they were getting a small shipment in, for early back orders. My hobby shop ordered one when H9 first released the part number to order by. I will check with them to see if they have any info. Anyone else have any info??? Thanks Rick

RE: Aero Works P-51?
Has anyone flown their P-51 yet?? I was mainly wondering how it handled on a grass runway, and what everyone thinks of the supplied retracts. Most of the videos are always off of paved runway, but some of us have to make do with grass. I have seen a bunch of posts asking how does it fly, but except the protype flying, that's all I've seen. AERO WORKS P-51 - ANY ONE FLYING????
I.m interested in those who have bought this plane as to how does it fly? Have you had any problems with the Aero Works supplied retracts? I have seen the thread on the plane, but not alot on how it flys. Aero Works was suppose to come out with a gas demo video, but I don't see any thing but the electric one. Did they over price them selfs on this plane. Being that it comes with retracts, inner retract doors and a seqencer setup with servos, retractable tail wheel, sliding canopy and cockpit, and at least Ultracote covering, or the option of a ARC for 300.00 less, is it worth it. Everyone says, it has to fly well or no one will buy it. So lets here from you that spent the money to buy this one of a kind warbird. I went to get to Comp.-ARFs web site to compare but was unable to get anything when I Googled it. Rick

TOP FLITE B-25 ENGINE QUESTIONS
I put up a new post hoping to get a few more responces than to post to big thread. So my main issue is all the videos I've seen on the plane are from paved runways. I emailed Tim from Hobbico and he thought it would be good to ask those who fly off of grass what engines they are using. I read one post that said with the older OS.70's the plane had all it could do to take off of grass and he had to use flaps as well. Tim I believe is using a pair of newer OS .72 4cycles. I my self now am wondering wheither a pair of OS.81s or even .91 4 cycles would be better to give it the pull it needs to lift off, and than throttle back once air speed is obtained. Could I get some feed back from those of you who fly off grass, as to your solutions. Also with a little more weight up front it would aid in balancing. I also would like to know if any body is using a gyro hooked to rudders to aid any yaw issues, and to help in engine out flying. Thanks for your time, this will help in buying the right motors for my B-25

NEW QQ BEAST BIPE Announced
Just saw under new releases QQ's new Beast Bipe. Manual was not on Horizon's web site yet. Does anyone know for sure if this plane will be canister ready? The pics of the plane in gallery show the plane with stock mufflers. It would seem strange not to mention it will except canisters unless it won't. I have seen a couple of other big planes not canister ready. I know this is not a problem with some, but if you need to have a quieter exhaust you must run canisters or pipes. It was my under standing they are taking orders for first shipment in spring of 2010. Rick

RE: WOW!! New DL 111cc and 55cc !
Sorry if this question, has been asked before, but I need to ask. From what I can see the mounting pattern for the DLE111 is the same as the DA100. But I need some info on the exhaust, is it the same as the DA100. I have a QQ 102 inch Yak that had a DA100L with MTW75 canisters. I pulled just the DA out to put in another plane. So will the MTW headers bolt up, and has anyone hooked up the DLE to MTW75 cans? How did it run? I'm thinking about putting the DLE111 in the Yak, but wanted to know how it ran on canister mufflers. I have to run these cans in the Yak because of space and I need a quiet setup. I have only seen stock mufflers on the planes that I have viewed. Thanks for your time. Rick
