Prop Change
I am currently flying a 4*60 with 75AX turning a 14X6 Prop. What should I expect if I put a 13.5 x 13.5 on this combination? Any ideas! Thanks

RE: 25% Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog build
ACaetano; I you building the Vally Dog you cannot build the stabilizer over the plan because the ribs tapper towards the ends both top and bottom. You have to support the outside edges off the plans. Look back in the tread and you will find where Ken explains this. see pic's and no I haven't flown mine yet.

RE: 25% Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog build
1/5 Dawg Airplanenutes; Here is a link to the Go Slow. I have mine set to lower the flaps slowly, and to raise them just a little faster. Looks really normal rather than bang their down and bang their up. I think this will allow you to compensate for any balloning effect. Which will allow approches to look more normal. they will work with Futaba also. [link]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPNV3&P=SM Rich F

RE: 25% Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog build
1/5 Dawg Caet; My Charge jacks for ignition and rx will be on the Inst panel along with rx switch and Kill switch is at bottom right on the fire wall. The three switches you see are nav/strob/mars lights. Landing lights come on as flaps are lowered. I haven't tried it yet but am hoping to run G-20 without Vel stack. Have installed Go Slow on Flaps which works wonderful. Rich F

RE: 25% Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog build
1/5 Dawg Ken, Chic: I realize that both of you are the mother load of information on the L-19. But I came across a little info that has helped me in my data quest. Letter sizing. Plus different Camo drawings and more. The first link is to many different aircraft, lots. The second link is to the L-19 letter sizing and size of stars. The third link is an easy scale converter that has made my life/build much easier. Seeing as how my math skills are limited! I just put in the full size and my scale and wala I have the 1/5 size. 2.75 inch rocket, tube size, a little over ½ inch. Maybe this will help others as well in their scale efforts of even different aircraft. Haven’t done much building as of late, just slapping on poly and sandind. But have been doing a lot of surfing for info and ideas, and reading of Dawg’s in Nam. Still sticking to my original color sceme. Which brings me to another question. In picture one that I had the call #’s are 51.14748. In picture two that you sent me of a Dawg in Austraila, right under the Call # is in large letters VH-LPV. Do you know what these stand for? Something for Auss’y reg. maybe? Just thought I’d pass this on: Rich http://www.cybermodeler.com/resource1.shtml http://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/o-1/o-1_profile01.shtml http://zooplies.com/Miniature_Haven/Building_Aids/scale_converter.shtml

RE: Building my first kit
I did the same many years ago. After a med. prob. I needed something to do, so I built the GP P-51 with a K&B 45 and then a LT-40 trainer and started leaning to fly with an instructor. While learning I built the Goldberg Anniversary Cub. I had the instructor maiden both Cub & P-51 and they flew great. So we turned to the Cub on buddy cord, and them the P-51. But as a kid I had built many stick kits and U-contol planes. So I had some experiance building. The GP P-51 is a nice build and a great flier. I had it for many years. Just take your time and build it straight. Rich

RE: 25% Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog build
1/5 Dawg Ken; I didn't move my strut forward as you did, I stuck to the plan, so my door doesn't open very far. I did change the hinges to a more scale like position. Muller still needs work, to long right now and I have seen the pipes cut stright and angled, so I guess it really doesn't matter. First attempt at mounts and rocket tubes/cones. Rich

RE: Futaba 3305 servos
I got my hands on 6 3305's and am/was planning on using the on a 1/5 high wing airplane I am building. I questioned the fact that they where ground based servos, but people I talked to said they'd use them. They offered the $10.00 each that I paid for them. I kept them for it will save me alot of $ if I use them. What is the deal with the different servos. Is there really any big difference it application? Thanks

RE: 25% Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog build
1/5 Dawg Thanks Ken, the pictures were great, I now have a better idea of how the top hinge works. I will change that. The 3 toggle switches in the lower R corner W,R,G, are for the lights. White will be the strobe, the red for the Mars light and green for the navigation lights. The landing lights come on with the flaps, as I copied your set-up. I will also add two switch/charge jacks as Chic did. In about the same places. I have to get a picture of the muffler pipes, as I was able to bend them back and cut them off at an angle close to the fire wall. I am ready to start putting the glass on the tail feathers and fuse. Do you have some really close pictures showing the different markings/lettering that is on the Dawg, as in the second pic you posted? The close up of the gray dawg door! And thanks again for your info on the door, that really helped. Rich

RE: 25% Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog build
1/5 Dawg Rick; Right now I have a Z20ie installed and am setting a 13.5 pounds. Don't know how much more wt I am going to gain in finishing. But it just barely fits inside the cowl with out cutting holes, except for the plug boot. I tried a Z26 but couldn't get it inside the cowl without cutting holes. Rudder and elevator servos will be just behind the back seat. Flap and Ailerons are in the wing, of course. haven't figured out where throtle and choke servos will go. I think the thrt will be under the floor behind the gear plate, like Ken's and choke in the engine compartment like Chic's. in tread. Will see as I get there. Difference in room from their 1/4 scale to my 1/5th. Rich

Just cut 1/4 inch off each side of the 13x8 and rebalance it. That will give you the clearance you need.
