RE: Skydive event in Ohio
Hi We also lost a 33% cub due to a battery failer a while ago. The knew one is also getting a duel battery sistem. Pitty one learn this the hard way. Or is it the expensive way. Will post fotos of our new one in next month. It will be ready then. We were lucky in getting a new one as a sponsor. There is a local company building 33% and 48% cubs in SA. When they heard we will use it as a drop plane they went for the sponsor. Riaan

RE: Official RCSkydiving questions & help
Thanks I will check with the company I buy the meterial from about the porosity level, as far as I know it is 5%. A local printing place has tried the printing but no good. I have tried using good ink, it does take into the meterial but do not no what will happen in rhe sun. Have not tried that. Will let you know about the porosity level. Will more porosity efect the forward flight. The chutes I have made fly great. Don't have any problems whatsoever. Cheers Riaan

RE: Newby with rigging questions
Hi First thing is the material you bought. You do not want to use zero porosity for a rc chute. You want the real thing, low porosity parachute material. I work with Gary's not. Threaded back into the line. I use a 1.2mm thickness line. Put extra webbing on the corners where you tie it and just make a small hole with the soldering iron. Cheers Riaan

RE: Steering Lines
Where tey attach to the body. First i had mine coming from the canopy threw the slider and then a ring on the back slider then threw the hand and on to the shoulder. It did look as if the arms did not come all the way down. I have got a bigger jumper now than my previous one. I now have the steering line coming fom the chute directly threw the hand and on to the body. With my first setup I had no problems with openings at all. I have not jumped with the second setup, so I just hope I do not pick up stering lines over the chute when opening. Thanks Riaan

RE: Bud Nosen Giant Scale Aeronca Build
Hi Ron Yes it was me that asked about landing gear. Thanks for the info. What I can see is that the plans for the landing gear is very much almost to scale. So I will try and build it. RE: Bud Nosen Giant Scale Aeronca Build
Hi Mark I have never tried putting a drop box on top of the fuse. But from what I have read that is not a good way to go. How about a cover plate so you can cover the built-in drop box for one diver. If your'e not using it, cover it. I am going to try and take up 3 jumpers, thats when all is done. Our jumpers range from 1kg to about 1.3kg. I have found some one to help with the repair work for time is very limited on my side. Ron Keep up the good work. Does anyone know of plans for scale-ish landing gear. I did find this http://www.fly-imaa.org/imaa/hfarticles/const/v1-1-7.html I don't want to go for the thick alu. Maybe try and do it from ply or perspex. Cheers Riaan

RE: My first JUMP!!!
I have found that my one does not penatrate strong winds that well. In the stronger winds i way it up with led to 2.2 pounds. Ideal conditions with light winds I bring the weight down and is that a pleasure playing around. Take it up as high as we can see the plane to fly. I then get around 3:30 minutes of flight. A firiend at the club also build one and I made him a chute. His jumper is about 2.5 pounds. Made two jumps today, but having steering problems. The arms does not pull down enough. The chute opened well. Did put a slider on his one. Riaan

RE: My first JUMP!!!
Here is a photo after he got a jumpsuit. Since then I have perfected the chute for my use. Over 25 jumps with no problems. In strong winds I ad some weight and get him up to about 1kg.

RE: Questions on the Gitchel parachute
Hi Yes it is there for airflow threw the cells. I use a 60w soldering iron to cut and its works for me. It is small and light, the tip is not sharp, round becuase the material is being cut with the heat. I cut on normal presboard or chipboard. Riaan

RE: My first JUMP!!!
Hi I added weight to get the jumper around 1kg and it made a big deffirence. Much better control. What we did notice is that if the jumper is approaching the chute will go wider and smaller. Does anybody know what the cause might be. We did about 15 jumps today with no problems. Riaan

RE: My first JUMP!!!
Hi We were jumping for the whole day and did about 20+ jumps. We played around with the steering lines and still not what I want. The weight I think is also to lite. The jumper ways 650 grams. I will make lead bags to attached and then see how it goes. From all the jumps there was only 3 with line twist and line over. Managde to get them lose before the ground. The day ended with a spiral and that was the worst landing. All and all a good day. We did take some fotos and will put them on soon. I still don't have a jumpsuit, so please excuse the nacked truth.
