RE: frustrated isnt the word
The link didn't go through for me. But to try to answer your question sight unseen. Any adjustment controlling the tail rotor will control the "spin", or yaw of the heli. If the heli is side slipping, roll, it is a good indication that the swashplate is in need of adjustment/leveling. This is done by adjusting the links from the servos. Not seeing what your heli is like I can only suggest trying to find an online manual from the seller/manufacturer or possible see if there is a video for a similar heli on Youtube. Try searching youtube under RC helicopters fixed pitch. Good luck.

E500/Big Lamma conversion for DX6i
I'd like to convert my E500 for use with my Spektrum Dx6i Tx and an AR6115e Rx. Changing the Rx and connecting it is not a problem. What I need are the settings for the DX6i. Do I use the 90deg. swash plate setting, throt. curve, etc..

RE: Blade 400 setup
Try the settings for the 450. My understanding is that the 450 is the newer, upgraded version of the 400. If nothing else it should give you a starting point.

RE: Why is anything in RC controversial?
Its not just the RC hobby where flamming takes place. Take a look at some of the electric train forums and see the discussions that frequently get heated about Lionel vs. MTH. I remember growing up when muscel cars were the thing and the heated discussions those caused. No matter what the hobby, put more than three guys/gals together and the sparks'll fly.

RE: Helicopter Differences Question
I have an E-Sky E500 that did have a tendency to favor going in reverse. My finding was that the heli is tail heavy and needed some weight added to make it slightly nose heavy. Also mine does not do well with even a little breeze.

RE: Getting more into Heli's
Avoid the Honeybee Kings if you can. I went inexpensive (cheap) with an HBK4 and with the $'s I put into it I could have gotten a better heli. The Tx started giving me problems in a little over a month, and what is supposidly factory set up isn't. I bought a DX6i and installed an AR6115e onto the heli and am trying to get things set up for stable flight. Also when trying to find parts many sites are out of stock. At this time I'm saving for a Blade 450, don't want to get into a T-Rex kit just yet. I also have the E-Sky E500, similar to the Big Lama it doesn't have enough power to buck the least amont of breeze.

RE: Problem: Loose belt or engine failer?
I'm having a similar problem with my Honeybee King 4 with DX6i TX and AR6115e Rx. The heli kicks ccw 90 def. for no reason. So far I've changed the rudder servo with no luck. I have a new gyro on order to see if that's the problem. Checked the belt and its tight, doesn't appear to be anything mechanical.

RE: Beginner wanting to buy a transmitter for heli flying
I recently bought a DX6i and, separately, an AR6115e receiver to upgrade my Honeybee King 4. Unless you are familiar, or have someone to help you, programing can be confusing. With luck there are a series of videos on YouTube that take you step by step through installtion and programing. Search the videos under "DX6i setup". The series is by rchelpcom, for me it comes up the first one at the top of the list.

Dumb mistake
This afternoon while getting some spare blades ready, i.e. balancing, etc. I happened to find that the blades I had on my heli were installed backwards. Last week after chipping a blade I hurridly threw on a new set. Even though the mis-installed blades worked for me, I'm in the practice hovering stage, when properly installed they did make things easier. The lean to the right that I had is gone and the tendency to drift/roll toward the left is much less to the point that I can trim it out.

RE: BIG LAMA
Check your motor and gears. I recently had to change out a motor on my E500, same frame as the Big Lama. The heli started flying eratic, everything looked ok when powered down till I started wiggling things and thought the motor was loose but it was the motor shaft moving. The motor bearing was shot, replaced the motor and all is well.

RE: Disappointed in Grayson Hobby
Grayson Hobby is a small business. I went to their store last week to see what it is like. They're only open 4 hours a day and at that opened 20 min. late the day I went. The store was clerked by, I believe, the owne'rs wife. I was hoping to gain some information on heli's but it appears they are mostly into fixed wing. I too tried calling, and I'm considered local, and received the recorded message, I did put in my question as to their hours and location using their form and received a reply the next day.

Anyone near to Athens, GA?
Anyone near to Athens, GA interested in instructing a novice on the use and setting of a DX6i? I'm changing the E-sky transmitter and receiver for my Honeybee King 4, modified, took off the body. I'm having TX problems and I'm changing to the DX6i and AR6115e and could use some help in setting the TX values and the use of the switches on the DX6i.

RE: E-sky E500 Response
Changed the motor out this morning and tested it while the wind was minimal and all worked well. I'm surprised that no wear showed on the main gear considering the motor shaft may have been under stress. When setting up the motor I followed a hint found on another thread to run a strip of paper between the gears and observer the condition as it comes through, corrogated = all OK, punctures + too tight. Also had a problem with my HB King 4 not lifting off. Found the gear on the motor worn, I would have thought the plastic main gear would have worn first. Just in case changed out the motor and main gear, all working fine. I hope to get out to Grayson Hobby this week and pick up a DX6i and receiver for the HBK4, the E-Sky TX that came with the heli takes about 5 min. of switching on and off before the LED stays lit.

RE: E-sky E500 Response
I may have just stumbled onto the cause of my problem(s). I noticed the gear for the front motor was not meshing with the main gear, I tried to tighten it, tested flew and the heli sat on the ground, no lift, spinning counterclockwise. Checked and the gear was not meshing again. Tore the heli down and found the front motor bearing is shot, the shaft can wiggle a good 1/16". Just ordered a replacement motor, wish me luck.

RE: E-sky E500 Response
Thanks for the info Aircrash. When I first glanced at your location I thought you might be just up the road, then I noticed Greece. I'm near Athens, Georgia, USA. I do have the Xtreme extended shaft and blades. I'll have to start fooling with the linkages a bit more than I have and see what happens. There isn't a heck of a lot of info. on setting up or tuning the E500 or on many of the other E-sky products.

E-sky E500 Response
While flying my E500 this morning I finally am tired of the lack of control response to the sticks. I need to push the controls for pitch and roll to their limits to get the heli to respond. I can see the lower set of blades change angle but the response is slow if at all. Anyone else notice this on their E500 or possibly Big Lama, the BL is essentially the same but with a lrger body? If you think it might be a pitch adjustment, how does one adjust the pitch on the E500?

RE: My Stabilizer Set keeps coming off
downunderdog - I too had TBE after installing an Xtreme inner shaft on to my E 500. Thanks to rchelicopterfun.com I found that a main cause of TBE is that something on the upper blade/stabilizer head is too tight. My blade holders were tightened too much onto the shaft. Loosened them and lubed moving parts with silicon and all is working fine.

RE: Need a part for an E-500/Big Lama
Thanks for the offer bjethier and the info. aircrash but talk about lucky, I found the brass part in my heli tool box in my workroom this morning. I was flying in the yard and the door was open, the brass weight flew in the door bounced off the door to the garage and fell into the tool box. After finding that part I surmised that the plastic part had to come off first and couldn't have gone far from where the heli came down, I was in the process of landing when it happened, so I started a circular search of the lawn and found it in abount 5 minutes. I leave for a vacation cruise tomorrow and I wonder if my luck will carry over, I think I might give the cassino a try. Roger

Need a part for an E-500/Big Lama
I had one of the stabilizer weights come off my E-500 while flying this evening and have had no luck finding it. I also know from previous searching for a spare that the stabilizer bar assembly. Esky part 000659, is out of stock everywhere I've tried. Any one have any suggestions on where to get a weight or stabilizer set? Or maybe you have a weight in your misc. parts bin from a crashed heli. Thanks, Roger

RE: Esky honey bee v2 transmitter problem
I too am having a similar problem with my HB King 4, 3 months old. More and more frequently I turn on the transmitter get the rapid LED blinking for the 3 seconds then it goes out. I've tried unbinding and rebinding with moderate success. To get it to work, if I'm lucky, I need to turn the transmitter on and off several times before I get binding. My batteries are good. Is there any way to test if the problem is the transmitter or the receiver? If I were to scrap the E-sky receiver and transmitter and replace them, say with a Spectrum DX6i, would it be just removal of the E-sky receiver and replace it with the new receiver using the existing servos? By the way, is E-sky still in business? Parts are difficult to find, every where I look they're out of stock.
