RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf
after an inadvertant bad landing and damaging my wing I purchased a new wing then tried to do some custom 3 piece flaps on my old wing after a little work I am now compleate installing them though the wing is not recovered yet the flaps look and work great. planning on recovering this week end and flying with it. will post pics when compleate.

RE: Hangar 9 P-40 Warhawk
at 3 inch it was real tail heavy bad enough it would try to fall off my ballancer. so I added a trueturn spinner, weighted adapter and 2oz lead and it was alittle nose heavy at 3.5 inch and flew great.

kmtranmd: I have already flown this plane it fies verry well but I set my cg at 3 1/2 inch back I would rather a little nose than tail. a nose heavy plane flies good a tail heavy plane flies once.

RE: Hanger 9 P-40 Warhawk 60
after building mine I tried to balance at 3 inch and it to was tail heavy but not real bad I have an aluminum spinner on it so it was slight. then I remembered the h9 corsair how the cg was off I am a firm believer of setting cg 1/3% of wing width. which is 4 1/2 inch same as the corsair and it flew great slight nose heavy. always remember " A nose heavy plane flys good a tail heavy plane flys once."

RE: gp at6 texan arf v/s ys 91 ac
Tim I have a KMP texan which is the same specs as the gp only mine is fiberglass. Little heaver I think. I have a saito 50 in mine and it is very fast at full throttle but it is still controllable. I don't think I would go over max recommended engine. from my experience I for see nothing but problems and headaches. good luck

RE: ESM / KMP AT6 TEXAN
I have built and flown the at6 and I must say it is the best flying 40 size texans I have flown the retracts I chose were the hobbyco mechanicle the wing is already built up for them but I did have to epoxy a 1/4 in. piece of hardwood in the center section to mount the servo to because the center of the wing would flex on servo operation and it started to crack. the plane flies great I opted for the saito 50 and there is more than enough power for this light of a plane. good luck and have fun.

RE: Great Planes AT-6 Texan ARF
My first plane was a corsair and my 2nd was a kmp texan, basicly the same as the GP texan except fiberglass landing and taking off are dif. due to the amount of rudder you need to compensate for engine torque the plane will leave the ground its self as long as you have your speed up. slow speed stalls are common so your landings will have to be a bit faster or the plane will fall out of the sky. IMHO no you did not take to big a step

I agree with the others on some parts. But I do not think it is a big step. RE: KMP/ESM AT6 Texan or Harvard
I have one of the KMP at6 Texan and it flies great I have installed the hobico retracts in it and after epoxying a piece of 1/4 inch hardwood inside the wing and mounting the retract servo to it they work perfect. The wing is already built up for the retracts so there is virtually no cutting on the center section of the wing just a 1/2 in. hole for the retract linkage to run through freely. I am running an older Saito 50 and there is enough power to fly it at performance speeds. a little more than 1/2 throttle is sufficient for buzzing around the pattern. full throttle the plane performs respectfully with the aggressive bank and yank. do expect to add a little weight to the nose to achieve proper balance. only about 2oz. Good luck hope this helps.

RE: Hanger9 P-40 warhawk arf 60 size
I have received the new retracts about 1 day late I was out flying last saturday and on my first take off for the day the stock ball links poped off and the gear spun 90 deg. as it left the ground as it was starting the climb the tank lost preasure and the engine stalled. The plane still landed gracefully in the dirt but it did shove a rock through the underside of the wing and broke one of the ribs. Oh well I have ordered a new wing that came in today. I will rebuild the other wing and try to build flaps for looks and opperation, if I mess it up it is not a big deal. I have a new wing.

RE: ys 120
century jet makes a set of pnuematic retracts specific for the H9 corsair. they are pricey but worth the money considering a new wing is 111.99 every time the stock fold up on you.

RE: Hanger 9 P-40 Warhawk 60
I talked to horizon hobbies today and they are using an upgraded version of the corsairs rotating retracts. they have made the wire a little stiffer and changed the loop style ball link caps to full cup style caps this should help out allot. they are sending me a set of the new retracts for my corsair free of charge. I guess they are tired of people calling and complaining about the original junk retracts on the corsair. I will install them then post back and let everyone know how the hold up. heres hopping I do not have to buy a third wing and cowl.

RE: Hanger9 P-40 warhawk arf 60 size
I just got off the phone with horizon hobbies and talked to them about the retracts they are the same as the corsair but they have been upgraded. the main problem I have with my corsair is the ball links pop off during touchdown. they said they have fixed that problem by installing full cup ball link caps. they also are sending me some for my corsair free of charge.

stuka conversion
My name is Robert and I have a Great Planes Stuka .60 arf. I would like to convert it to electric and I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions. tower hobbies has a conversion that includes a fun 500-27 brush less motor with speed control and prop adapter, instructions looks like everything except battery. I guess my question is would this motor be big enough to power the arf or do I need to go bigger. any help would be great. thank you
