RE: DLE-30 Carb Wont Draw Fuel
Too much air is passing from somewhere if the butterfly is closed and it is still running, especially at that high of rpm

RE: DLE-30 Carb Wont Draw Fuel
ORIGINAL: azalner I even pressurized the fuel tank through the vent. No go![:o] Thanks Al
Take a blunt object, pressurize the tank, then push on the diaphragm through the vent hole, fuel will flow, if it doesn't you have your answer.

RE: DLE-30 Carb Wont Draw Fuel
The metering needle could possibly be stuck, even a mal-adjusted fulcrum arm wouldn't stop the fuel from flowing when choked. You did open the needles after rebuilding. right? When assembling the pump side you did put the diaphragm first (flapper valves) against the carb body then the gasket, and the reverse on the metering side??

RE: LA7 Info / Research / Build - Scale Wings
ORIGINAL: wxman2 I am going to do something that I really don't want to do because they aren't scale, but with all the reports of engine overheating issues with LA7, I have decided to put some louvers in the bottom of the cowl. Going to mode them in so that they aren't that noticeable (hopefully).
Louvers do a great job of extracting air. Most people don't realize that is probably the most important part of air flow, create a good low pressure area to move all that hot air out. Trying to force it through from the front will never work as well as pulling it out the back. I've run gassers with 1:1 entrance vs exit with perfect cooling when a low pressure area is employed.

RE: DLE-30 Carb Wont Draw Fuel
Hmmm, you could be right. All you need to make an engine run is spark, fuel and air. We know air is there so all you have to do is find out which one is missing to diagnose the problem and go from there. Do you have spark (at the plug, no short, at the right time) will it run on a prime but not other wises, etc. Take a systematic approach and he will have his answer.

RE: DLE-30 Carb Wont Draw Fuel
ORIGINAL: azalner Pulse line is internal to the reed block and is unobstructed. I pulled the cover off the upper chamber & flooded it with gas. Al
Apparently it is pumping fuel after rebuild, something not right here.

RE: G62 muffler install, need advise Please.....
The pipe might or might not change the performance of the engine. I still would run a straight pipe if noise is not a problem, you can't use JB weld and instead of solder use braze. It isn't that hard to make your own header once you get the flange and a few pieces.

RE: DLE-30 Carb Wont Draw Fuel
Thing is you have fuel in the carb as stated before so it is pumping. Time to start looking on the ignition side if you can't get it to pop. As captain mentioned a little more info would help

RE: Checkvalve replacement on Walbro wj-71
I didn't think the check valve was all that important, isn't it just to stop some richening when backing off of the throttle.

RE: DLE-30 Carb Wont Draw Fuel
Did you reassemble the carb correctly?? Also check the reeds and the pulse line holes to make sure they are lined up, they do run an internal pulse line right??

RE: Does DA make a high performance version of their engines?
He would polish the exhaust port, change the base gaskets to better sinc the port timing and go thru the carb. It really didn't increase power to any degree, but runability. I believe it was Salsa something out of bakersfield california.

RE: Does DA make a high performance version of their engines?
They have a magnesium and cylinder lightened version of the 200, but no, they have nothing but stock. That does not stop you from modifying them yourself, change port timing, squish and squish angel, etc., of course it will void the warranty

RE: gas enguine radio interferance
ORIGINAL: speedracerntrixie And if that problem arises while in the air?
If an ignition ground breaks, shielding separates etc. you are hosed no matter how many gizmos you have. A good set up with grommets and tie-downs which keep things from rubbing and chaffing goes a very long way in keeping the gremlins away. Oh and buy quality equipment. If by chance something does happen in the air kill the engine and dead stick it if you have altitude

RE: gas enguine radio interferance
ORIGINAL: NM2K That is a good suggestion, Capnjohn. The relatively new world of operating on 2.4 GHz does force us to consider new variables. It also provides us with some additional safety, if setup properly. I'm sure we will be discovering new operating facts about 2.4 GHz for quite a while. At this early stage, I wouldn't be deriding others, nor their techniques, until the jury is back in their seats. Ed, NM2K
The just of my post was that if everything is working properly, especially the ignition, there shouldn't be a need for all those gizmos and tricks. If you are having problems find out where that problem lies first.

RE: gas enguine radio interferance
Man, I have been doing things wrong for many many years[;)] I haven't twisted any wires, at times place ignition and flight batteries next to each other, never use ferrous chokes, only use metal push rods or CF with ball links for throttle and everything else, sometimes all close together, and to date I haven't had any glitching problems. My engine on engine off ground checks are within 10% of each other and always exceed manufacturers recommendations. Had an ignition go bad once, which I caught on the ground and no amount of gizmos would help stop that massive RF blast. Hey antique, still have and ignition or two of yours that are about 8 years old and still going strong, yep they must be no good to last that long[:)]
