RE: Graupner MC-32
I'm also flying one and having zero issues with it. Thinking of converting to Weatronic but not quite ready to spend more money on them unless they adress their customer service. So flying HOTT now and very happy with it. Telemetry features are very similar to Weatronic, and the top display for realtime telemetry offcourse. Programming is very easy and straightforward, as all Graupner TX's. Bigger and heavier than a MC-24, but a very solid feel because of the magnesium body. There were some issues with the side sliders but are adressed, stronger material is used for new TX's and upgrade parts are available. On the German RCNetwork forum there is talk of a MX-32 (hand held type) TX beeing in the works, but don't get your hopes up, the original release date for the MC-32 was beginning of 2009, I got mine FEB2012. RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
ORIGINAL: George Check your end points and neutrals! I burnt up two flap servos on a Mibo partly because the hinge line and flap were not correct (bought used) and end points. I would think going from one Tx brand to another would cause some issues. Also, check the modulation selected, this can cause problems as well (documented earlier in this thread). It sounds like you maybe very close on a few of the servos and it is manifesting itself as you put flights on it exercising the servos and maybe binding on a few occasions? I maybe way off, but just a thought! Regards, George
End points and neutrals are not an issue, none of the servos are binding whatsoever. All servo travels are programmed in the 12R rx, the only servo setup we adjusted was the one from the canopy after replacing it. We have setup the end points from the TX using Gigacontrol so we could see the full travel of how it was originally programmed. So we are sure we are not outside the original max. travel. About the modulation, if I select auto in GC, we get massive glitches, if I select Weatronic modulation manually then everything works fine. I have tried all others in the list but Weatronic modulation is the only one that works. Regards, Bart.

RE: Weatronic 2.4 RF diagnostic tool
ORIGINAL: STAN-CAUSSEL David , did you get an answer about your problem ? I never had such a trouble. GENERAL QUESTION : Who is using a FUTABA T12FG with a WEATRONIC 2.4 Tx Modul ? Stan
Stan, your A-10 won "Best military aircraft" at the "Jets over Pampa" meeting in Belgium. But we are starting to have serious problems with your model. Don't get me wrong, your build and finish is just spectacular, and I am 100% sure my friend Wim has bought your airplane without any defects, but after 7 flights he has 3 burnt out servo's. I have set up the plane for Wim, because he was not familiar with the Weatronic system. He bought a brand new Futaba 12FG, I installed a new Wea DV4 module on it, installed V2.59 firmware because we were having glitches and bad servo resolution on V2.56. While setting up the model with the new transmitter the servo wich actuates the canopy burnt out (Hitec HS5995TH I believe). I replaced the servo and completed the programming, tested everything, performed a range check, all OK. Now in the 7th flight the nose steering servo burnt out, and the left elevator servo! No need saying the model is grounded untill we find what is causing this. There were no modifications made to the model, just another transmitter (Futaba T12FG instead of Graupner MC-24) and firmware upgrade. I have tested Wim's TX with one of my planes before he went out to fly the A-10, and I noticed straight away that the servo's are not running as smooth as with my TX (also MC-24). So I am pretty sure the problem lies with the TX, or the combo TX-Wea. Does anyone have an idea why? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Bart.

Go with the 9210. In your initial post you mentioned you liked the idea of 2 recievers for redundancy, The AR9210 is basically 3 recievers linked to a Powerbox Evolution. Plus you get the benefits of a dual regulated redundant battery input and amplified servo signal outputs. Regards, Bart.

RE: The New Graupner MX-20 HOTT
ORIGINAL: Modellbau USA Â The system is identical to the Weatronics system just with updated technology. Range of the US system is the same as the European version. I have a system set up on one of my FPV and I am consistently getting about 2.5 miles of range before it enters fail safe. The radio are the same as the MX24 every channel is assignable, contrable and proportionally functional. The telemetry has airspeed sensors as well as GPS
HOTT does not use dual TX antenna's, so it's far from identical. HOTT uses a single circular polarised antenna, Weatronic uses dual patch antennas. There are lots of similarities though, but not the same system or derivative of the Wea system. I ordered the MC-32 HOTT transmitter myself, wich was originally designed so it could be used with the Weatronic telemetry, but cooperation between Wea and Graupner ended premature and firmware development for Weatronic stopped. RE: Weatronics Users: Why move to 18MZ?
ORIGINAL: luv2flyrc I use Weatronic with JR. I think people (including myself) have concerns about the long term viability of Weatronics and are becoming hesitant to invest more than they already have in it. Some have decided to cut their losses now and go with the new 18mz. Concerns about Weatronics viability come from their complete lack of customer service, their refusal to successfully address some known issues and the market trend of the current manufacturers to build dedicated (non-modular) transmitters. This relegates Weatronic for use with older transmitters. I really like my Weatronics equipment but, want to see where the company is headed before buying more. I've been waiting for an English voice file for over a year. It makes me wonder if Wea has any interest in sales outside their domestic market. Mike
+1 I fly Wea and Graupner, and I am completely happy with it. but they need to get their act together in the customer department. Just ordered the new Graupner MC-32 (easily adaptable to Weatronic) but going to fly the HOTT stuff for a while before I make up my mind about further investing in expensive Wea RX's. Bart.

RE: Buy a new or used turbine?
ORIGINAL: highhorse
ORIGINAL: siclick33 Well each to their own but I would buy the engine that is best for the job and not the biggest/heaviest one that I could fit in the available space. Aside from residual thrust, there is also weight, size, fuel burn, and not insignificantly cost to consider.
Read again. The point was not buy the biggest and heaviest one for the space. The point is that the original poster is looking at 25-30 lb motors, and when you bother to look at size and weight of the 25-30 lb class motors, they are really no lighter than the 35 lb class motors. The 35 pounders then, are the smarter long term buys.
That statement may be true for a Jetcat P80-120-160, but have a look at the weight difference between a Cheetah and a Rhino. I believe Dominic is shopping for an engine to put in his small Futura, that is a P80 size airframe. I wouldn't put a 35 pounder in that one. Bart.
ORIGINAL: Fortune7 GPS and Link Vario module, with Micro 12 Gyro III receiver: I have my jet ready to fly within the next few days and wanted to know if there's any specific setup to be done in the receiver (via gigacontrol) for the GPS and LinkVario (LV) units. I have the GPS connected to the LV unit as per instructions, and the LV unit with the airspeed sensor connected. Now, I know the GPS (voice) output can be switched at the Tx (spare channel permitting) for height, speed, etc., but can I assume all data from both GPS position and height, plus airspeed and baro. height will be recorded on the Tx memory card (only - Rx is a Micro) so I can then analyse everything afterwards, picking-out the stuff I want? Otherwise, do I need to configure the Rx to log what I need up-front? I could probably figure this out if I had the Tx, Rx and laptop in the same place but the jet is already packed in the car! Cheers, Andy
No need to configure anything, all parameters are logged, you can pick them out afterwards.
