RE: Nitromodels PREDATOR RQ-1B
went to my local home depot for the nylon screw, and nylon tubes. The nylon tubes were no where to be found. As in out of stock I guess because I believe I found the right area and even asked someone. so, it looks like I'll just mount the motor directly to hte "firewall" (guess not a real high chance of fire in an electric). the motor is about 2'' (51mm) possibly another 2mm with the mount and i believe the manual states 56mm is recommend so hopefully i won't have to adjust too much to fit it.

RE: Nitromodels PREDATOR RQ-1B
you'd have to know how many amps your ESC can put out to the servo's specifically, and then how much each servo draws. You can run 4 HS55's on most esc's no problem. The 5th servo is questionable and I'll stand back and wait for someone more technical to answer you. But thats how you find out. Look up the data for amp draw of each servo, then look up amp capability of esc, and I mean in the 2amp region not 32amps to the motor. I have my own question too.. I have a 7chp futaba computer radio, do I need to have y connector still or can I program it in for the ailerons

RE: Nitromodels PREDATOR RQ-1B
actually I was asking if that was the idea. I had a hard time picking it out from the pictures. so instructions would be: 1. put a whole slightly smaller then the anchors 2. pop an achor in place 3. using a screw/bolt in anchor to hold wing in place vs instructions for your original nylon screw: 1. drill hole 2. use wood screw to make threads in hole 3. CA hole to get threads to harden 4. using nylon screw to hold wings on. ???

RE: Nitromodels PREDATOR RQ-1B
You using the drywall anchors in place of drilling/threading a hole a clean hole for the nylon screws? I may have to do that instead

RE: Nitromodels PREDATOR RQ-1B
I am currently reading through everything before I start building and noticed the grams confusion. 28g = 1oz as 16oz = 1lb. The 31g = 1oz in other circles. Gold/precious metals is the only area I'm area of from experience but I haven't researched for any others. So if you have an ounce of gold you actually have 31g. but an ounce of airplane is 28g. Why that is, I have no idea.

RE: Nitromodels PREDATOR RQ-1B
I looked at the nitro Motor but like most things they are out of stock . I imagine that I'll use the stock wheels so I'll look for 8" set up. I'm pretty good about cutting power right before touch down to prevent prop strikes because I always belly land but better safe than sorry. Thanks for the quick response. BRAD

RE: Nitromodels PREDATOR RQ-1B
whats the limit on prop size? I have a predator on its way in the mail and I was thinking about ordering a 2217-09 suppo motor from lightflightrc.com since I'm already planning on getting a different motor for another plane. If you look at the specs on it ( I think its the same as graysonhobby's motors w/ the same numbering system) its a 950kv etc..etc 11v with a 10x6HD gives around 50mph pitch speed and 32oz thrust w/in amps of my 10c 2100lipo. so...is 10'' too big or should I just work with a 9''? Any idea of pitch speed/thrust to shoot for?

RE: model reviews
the 60 is just for 1 single plane, no other parts. I've been doing this for long enough to not be naive about "real" costs. I was just saying I'd rather not buy a junk plane and crash all my parts and waste a min of $60. I expect 300-400 on helicopter even though I have a motor, esc, servos, rx and TX...basically

Yup, I've seen the walkera stuff. I'm more so talking about no name stuff and things exclusive to them.

model reviews
I really like your selection as it is very different and the prices are great What I would like is a review section of your models, proper reviews. Even some started here would be fine. I've been toying with the idea of buying the hyrdo plane, and the p-40 (electric) for sometime now but haven't because I know nothing of quality and as great as your prices are, I don't want $60 worth of trash. I've also been really looking into moving into heli's and again I think your prices are great but I can't find anything about your models. I might have to buy the p-40 and review it for you! are there any places you have reviews?

n30 motor replacement
I searched the forums and didnt find anything mentioned about it, but I could be wrong. Is there a comparable electric motor available at radioshack. i found this http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=273-258 but I definately couldn't find specs on the n30 motor to see if they were similar or not. I live in College Station and the LHS here never has anything and i'd rather not pay the $5 s/h for a $3 part on ebay thanks

Amp draw
I remember reading somewhere that someone said that if you keep the electric set up the same (i.e. same volts etc) but increase the resistance (prop) then you also increase the amp draw. That makes sense because the battery is being strained more, but if you look at the simple physics V=IR then if R goes up and V stays the same , then I (amp) must go down... Could someone explain me to what actually happens and which one is correct thanks

Which battery for which plane
very new and dont understand. I'm getting two 8cell 9.6v 800mah nimh battery packs for the crazy max which is the recommended battery.. My question is when I upgrade planes and go w/ new motor/esc combination ,. how do i know if i could still use the battery packs. If its the same or close to weight of the suggest pack or same Voltage or same capacity? any help or insight would be greatly apreciated thanks, Brad

Thanks, thats what i was thinking, my other question is ,, they both do use identical electronics but i believe the directions require gluing the servos in place. If i glue them in place will it be stupid to take them out, and would velcro or tape be just as effective as glue thanks

First plane ( in a while)
I've been out of flying for about 5 years, but still played around w/ the simulators every once in awhile, and even more now, and feel that my skills are about what they were when i stopped flying. I was at the point where i could fly reasonably well even in really heavy wind. I was flying an ugly stick 60 (forgive me if thats incorrect, its been a while) and could do most tricks but still need to get my mechanics down, but i had no fear of crashing ( from at least pilot screw up). I am now looking at giving it another go , but this time i want to go the electric route. I've been looking at the Crazy Max and the Wattage Sukhoi-31. I know i can fly the crazy max, but I want the sukhoi. I was wondering what everyones opinion would be to get the sukhoi or to give myself a grace period and go w/ the crazy max . Main question about the sukhoi is how well does it slow down if i need it do just to give my self some relearning time. thanks
