RE: E-flite Taylorcraft
Jaybird are those GWS floats ? Horizon just sent an email letting me know the control rods will be on the way soon. Gotta love that killer customer support.

RE: E-flite Taylorcraft
You know I thought that and checked the box and nope they are officially mia if its too much of a hassle to get them from horizon I'll most likely just make a new set . No biggie

RE: E-flite Taylorcraft
ORIGINAL: cobra525 Well, I discovered a flaw in my plane. It was a break at the rear right side of the fuse where the horizontal stab begins, then down almost to where the control rod exits.. I know it wasnt there when I built it and epoxied the stab, It has never had a bad landing, only exposure to looping and rolling and 12mhp wind if that. I cut out the covering at the bottom of the fuse just behind the air outlet, and saw the glue joint had come loose. It made the horizontal stab move up and down on that side more than usual due to the rear of the fuse flexing. So I popped it back into place from the inside, dropped some thin CA on it, and covered it up again. It just so happens that I had some red covering for my Pitts special that matched and I used that at the bottom rear of the fuse. It looks great so I didnt need a 14 dollar roll of cream covering this time. My friends insisted on taking it back to the Hobby shop and getting a replacement fuse due to it being a possible manufacturing defect, but I have already put in some special features into this fuse, like the reinforced landing gear area, a little istrument panel and whatnot. I should have taken a picture of it to post but didnt even think about it before covering it up. Hopefully that was just a freak isolated thing and my cute little electric doesnt start falling apart on me.
mine was broken in the exact same place right outta the box so apparently it may not be isolated .I too just repaired it but everyone else might wanna look at theirs just to be sure

RE: Hangar 9 Funtana S90 build quality????
yeah I LOVED my funtana 90 it flew great till a blender dislodged the battery.I watched it go it inverted wide open into the ground [:(] .If you can get the new funtana x100 go for it it is a much better flying plane

RE: Hangar 9 Funtana S90 build quality????
the sevo didnt strip out and cause the flutter did it ? a servo that isnt strong enough will do the same thing along with too much airspeed

RE: Hangar 9 27% cap 232 wing bolts.......help
5955's for the elevator/rudder and 5625's on the ailerons but the 5625's now have slop after 25 or so flights so I've got 5955's on order.I've got an EF 88" yak waiting next in line and it calls for them . Once you fly with top of the line servos that all you'll want I dont care what anyone says but there is a difference IMHO.

RE: Hangar 9 27% cap 232 wing bolts.......help
Mine are metal also and they're now epxied to the wing and the black plastic nut is used to retain the wing with a supplied saftey clip in the end .Sounds like maybe they did maybe a small revision on the isntructions and forgot corresponding new parts. Your gonna love the cap it flies awesome and does some of the craziest tumble and spins ever Even after I broker her in half and repaired her. Good luck [:D]

RE: airwild extra 260 29% who's got one?
nuttypro is not the only one with some hiccups on an otherwise excellent plane. My buddy has one and it needed a repair(reglue) for almost every one first 8 or so flights and it's never been crashed and so far the engine box has broken (cracked right past the firewall in that big cutout) and half the hatch tiedowns failed in flight cuasing the hatch to fly off in flight ,hitting the elvator half bending the rear stab tube, and the landing gear ply sheet split on the second landing . He still has it and has no problems since fixing all those things and the guys at AW know about it and were very quite amazed at what had happened. I'm not puttting this plane down in anyway IMHO this plane flies awesome , its just a heads up for some possible things to look for. Rob

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
You'll need an apc 12x6e prop and at least 2 hs65hb servos for the elevator and rudder .You should be okay with the 55's on the ailerons.

I just pulled the trigger on one of these bad boys in red . I'm just waiting back for the confirmation its on its way . Being I'm at sea level I plan on flying the plane with a da50 and stock muffler first.

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Thats what I did .I used an aileron from a dead foamie for a 1 inch rudder extension. The plane gods where very kind to me last week.I was flying around doing some pretty violent snap rolls and at about 100 ft up my funtana became 3 pieces [X(] .The velcro strap I had for safety incase the velcro strip on the battery failed also failed and the 3 pieces were funtana ,hatch ,and battery! Within a nano-second I realized I had no control and watched it flat spin really really slowly into some tall weeds that cushioned it causing NO damage. The hatch fell not too far away and was easy to find but I only heard the battery go in as I was watching were the plane went.It took 2 days to locate the battery but it amazingly survived the fall as well. I still cant believe it's not confetti [:D]

RE: GX45vs.DA50vs.BME50
Mark I think that combo sounds like it will work good . That Os 120 should yank it around nicely . A guy at our field has one in a new funtana x100 and its easily got unlimited performance .

RE: GX45vs.DA50vs.BME50
My cap is stock with hs5955's everywhere and 1 hs925mg on throttle, 2 nimh's 1-1600mah 1-2700mah,2 jr hd switches, smartfly optical ign kill ,smartfly power expander sport ,and futaba sysnthesized rx. . It will pull out of my poor excuse for a hover with good power and climb till its a teeny spec pretty fast .I have not weighed it with an accurate scale but its lighter than a guys 17.8 lb aeroworks extra 260 at my field and a litlle heavier than my buddies Air wild extra 260 which is 15lbs even. You'll love it its a good plane . Its my first gasser as well I have had for a few months and now All my glow planes are gone I was so sick of wiping al that nasty shmeg off the plane after flying.
